History Antonio Agosta first understood that fixed scaffolds were not so comfortable for dynamic and light use as required by painters. That’s why he designed a model which is still produced and which revolutionized the concept of scaffolding beginning to manufacture and sell mobile scaffolds. Italia model was the first light, foldable, usable on stairs, telescopic and extension scaffold produced on the Italian market. The scaffold was first sold one piece at a time directly to painters. Only some years later, with much effort, Mr. Agosta succeeded in convincing specialist dealers to believe in his invention and to sell his products opening the door to distribution of scaffolds. Carrying on in its develop, at the end of seventies, the company changed from small factory to industrial park. In those days the first wooden ladders were introduced by Svelt. Later they began to manufacture steel and aluminium ladders. Gradually they introduced more and more access products. At the beginning of the new century many acquisitions were made and international branches opened. The Group diversified also in other sectors like handtrucks, aerial platforms, loading ramps, aluminium boxes, mezzanines. Svelt Group has always lived with the principles that had identified the beginning of the activity and today is dedicating the same energy in technologic research for a more and more efficient manufacturing activity. Today Svelt Group, managed by Mr. Antonio Agosta, Mr. Davide Agosta and his brother Mr. Eros Agosta, is the first group in Italy for turnover, productive volumes and area coverage. The aim of the group is strengthening its market leadership remaining always open to requirements of global and modern market.

The whole process of research and development is operated inside our group. We work with internal designers. We have got a company laboratory for tests and planning of new products. We cooperate with Politecnico di Milano (Applied-Science Faculty in Milan) that tests products and certifies they conform to European Standards. Since 01/09/2007 all our steel scaffolds have conformed to Standard 2002/95/CE, (RoSH), which forbids to use hexavalent chromium and other toxic products on anticorrosive platings (zinc coating). D.Lgs n. 151 del 25/07/2005. The zinc coating has been changed from gold to silver, which is less polluting. The wood used for scaffold working platforms is glued with no polluting agents.

Steel, aluminium, paper and plastic used for production and packaging are recyclable.

Our foreign suppliers are chosen also according to standard BSCI on working condition in their country.
