graduate programs across six academic colleges are fully accredited.

SUU is the only university in Utah to guarantee all students will graduate

with both a diploma and field experience, through internships, under-

graduate research or study abroad. SUU has always placed its students

first, fostering small, personalized classes evident in the University’s im-

pressive. SUU offers a traditional college experience on its residential

campus. More than 90 percent of its 7,656 students live within one mile

of campus.

A member of the Big Sky Conference, the University supports 17 NCAA

Division I teams. The SUU Women’s Basketball and Softball programs

are reigning Big Sky Conference champions.

With an important role in the regional economy, the University partners

with the Utah Summer Games and the Utah Shakespeare Festival to

attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to Cedar City each year.

SUU President Scott L Wyatt’s inaugural promise and the University’s

strategic mission: “Southern Utah University will lead students to rates

of success that no other public school in our region can match.”

President Scott L Wyatt

Southern Utah University’s 16th Presi-

dent, Scott L Wyatt, comes to campus

from his former post as president of

Snow College, where he served for six

years.

President Wyatt led Snow in fundrais-

ing, growth initiatives and strategic

planning, including approval of its

first four-year degree program, construction of the Karen H. Huntsman

Library, and a new 400-bed student housing complex. His administra-

tion raised more money for the College, over the last six years, than has

been raised during any comparable time in the College’s history. He also

oversaw the enhancement of the Snow College brand and led the Col-

lege to a 40% increase in student enrollments over the past five years.

He also guided the realignment of Snow’s career and technical educa-

tion programs to better fit local workforce and economic development

needs. During his tenure, Snow College was consistently ranked in the

top 10% of two-year colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute and

named sixth in the nation for college completion by CNN Money.

Prior to his appointment as president of Snow College, Wyatt was a

partner in the Logan law firm Daines & Wyatt, LLP.

Wyatt served in the Utah legislature for two terms, where he was a

member of the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee. He

also served on the board of trustees for Snow College and Utah State

University, and was the student member of the State Board of Regents.

He has taught political science, ethics and education law courses.

President Wyatt holds a BS in Philosophy and Economics from Utah

State University and a JD from the University of Utah.
