YEAR 1- What we actually did. Power-point presentations to S1-S4 to introduce the project Around 100 pupils visited Polmadie reclamation visits (4 visits) and wrote essays on recycling Pupils compiled culture boxes for partner schools Pupils entered art competition for the environmental workbook cover S1 pupils worked through environmental workbooks in French and English Pupils compiled information gleaned from websites on European, Scottish and Glasgow City Council’s environmental policy under 3 main headings: land, air and water. Pen-pal exchange set up between pupils in S1, S2 and S4 with France (in French) and Poland and Sweden (in English) Pupils produced a video about climate change and were runners up in the schoolnet competition for European Green Week We arranged for a recycling officer to come to give a talk to all year groups Pupils responsible for weekly collection of paper and plastic bottles Throughout the year pupils collected information on the environment and displayed on 3 notice boards Pupils produced a video to introduce themselves to participating schools Pupils put forward various suggestions for a domain name, they chose” Litterhitters”. www.litterhitters.new.fr Magazine 1.

Hosted 3rd partners meeting in Glasgow in October Weekly recycling part of school life 3 visits to Pollok Park to regenerate a neglected area and promote biodiversity Strengthened links with local agencies; PTA (Parent-Teacher Association), BTCV (British Trust of Conservation Volunteers), PEAT (Pollokshields Environmental Action Team), Pollok Park Countryside Rangers Visit to Summerlee Industrial Museum Tree planting in school grounds Art work: Comenius tree Weekly environmental meetings Monitoring “Carbon Footprint” Penpal exchange in partner schools S3 pupils working through environmental workbook in French and English Represented “Education” in “Flourish”- Glasgow City Council Team Excellence Awards. 2 prizes for Litterhitters play performed in French. European Movement meetings: Richard de Marco, Ross Finnie and Linda Fabbiani Visit to Shawlands by David Martin MEP 5 submissions for prizes Litter Strategy by S4 pupils who went to Cyprus. They gave talks to pupil councils S1-S4. Mr Geddes addressed all year group assemblies about school litter problem. Studied Exodus book by Julie Bertagna. “Art d’Eco” Art in the Park, Pollok Park May 21st 2007 Science Centre, Eco Day, March 2007 Raised £10,000 lottery money to pay for: 3 day environmental trip to Badaguish, Aviemore Picnic furniture Produced jute bags with eco-code “Medusa”- Art Installation made from recycled materials Eco-conference, June 2007. 16 local “green” organisations plus Learning Community
