General objectives of HUNPOL-TRANS correspond to objectives of SSA projects:

contribution to the development of ERA in surface transport increasing participation of surface transport research

organisations from Hungary and Poland renewing enthusiasm in Europe for science and technology

regarding surface transport to catalyse researchers boosting Europe’s competitiveness with sustainable growth strengthening and expanding cooperation among old and

new member countries facilitating cooperation with countries outside EU supporting Joint European Technology Initiatives

Page 3: Sustainable and Safe Surface Transport, 22nd November 2005

Specific objectives

to assess situation and perspectives in Hungary and Poland with respect to surface transport (road, rail and waterborne)

to select most active RTD units (including centers of excellence) from surface transport sector in Hungary and Poland and other EU countries

to define their profiles – strengths, weaknesses and needs to organise a series of profiled workshops adapted to real

needs of participants to identify IPs and NoEs that fit with the needs and plans to encourage participants to become surface transport

evaluators or experts monitoring project progress and to make it possible for the representatives of the European Commission to meet the potential evaluators and experts

to promote constructive international networking and partnership in the areas of surface transport

to facilitate access of Hungary and Polish organizations to European Technology Platforms

WP 1 Target group

To identify suitable science and research organisations interested in the Surface transport programme.

To define organisations competencies’ profiles. The set of organisations’ and researchers’ competencies and skills will be exploited for database on research potential in NMS

To classify target groups and select a set of activities for each of the target groups

Page 7: Sustainable and Safe Surface Transport, 22nd November 2005

WP 1 Target group - questionnaire

The questionnaire consists of five main parts:

contact details, data on institution size and areas of competence and

main specialisation, technical offer and/or product categorywho can implement it/ to whom it is addressedassistance expected from NCP Poland and Hungary.

Page 8: Sustainable and Safe Surface Transport, 22nd November 2005

WP 1 Target group - questionnaire

The aim of the questionnaire was to collect more data on potential partners interested in participation in upcoming activities and events thus the questionnaire included questions reviling product category, technology area.

The questionnaire was put to the project web site with the option most preferable by the consortium to be filled in on – line. After filling it with data of new participant, all most important data were revealed in a internet web page as information on that partner for those who search for new co-operation.

The questionnaire to fill it in with data is available under address http://www.kpk.gov.pl/hunpol/form.html.

The data base of partners interested in starting new co-operation is available under address: http://www.kpk.gov.pl/hunpol/tabelka.html.

Page 9: Sustainable and Safe Surface Transport, 22nd November 2005

The questionnaire was also sent to the group of institutions in project partners data bases.

The data base of institutions searching for co-operation includes 29 records.

WP 2 IPs and NoE identification

To make available the information concerning current IP/NoE and STREPs projects and project initiatives mainly for research organisations from NMS (the consortium will spread this information to the other NMS).

To create stable structure facilitating further co-operation between MS, NMS and ACC.

Page 13: Sustainable and Safe Surface Transport, 22nd November 2005

WP 2 IPs and NoE identification

The consortium provided incorporation service for organizations cooperating within HUNPOL-TRANS in area of surface transport.

For those organizations with no project ideas but with appropriate potential (resources, skills, experience) HUNPOL-TRANS consortium offered project incorporation service.

Since there were many SMEs with multithematic profile incoporation activity was carried out in the following calls:

2nd call of Transport 3rd call of Transport 3rd NMP call 3rd call of aeronautics

There were lots of good contacts to project coordinators to incorporate new units. For example for call 3A we had almost 70 contacts, for 3rd NMP call about 40, for 3rd call of aeronautics more than 20. Below we present the final results.

WP 3 Conferences, seminars &brokerage

To perform introductory seminars for prospective newcomers to Framework Programme

To provide about 2x150 of participants of the Call Conference with information on the current matters relating to the implementation of Surface transport priority.

To initiate consortia creating process by facilitating direct contacts between NMS and MS researchers and organisations (brokerage and visits)

To renew the enthusiasm in Europe for surface transport science and surface transport technology

WP 4 Partner search tool – database for researchers and research organisations

The internet database was created for researchers and research organisations for surface transport sectors (road, rail, waterborne) in Hungary and Poland. The database comprises information on competencies, scientific experience and skills.

The database reveals product category, technology area. The database facilitates search for partners submitting REQUEST for a partner for a joint project or one may submit a technology OFFER. An Expression of Interest will also be incorporated into the database.
