BENEDICTION

The Heart of the Matter:

Before his ascension, Jesus blesses the disciples and tells them that as witnesses to his presence and resurrection, they too will be filled with power to carry on his ministry, to be his hands and feet in the world. To see the world through the eyes of Jesus is to see through the eyes of love. What does it mean to look through the eyes of our hearts? How do we see things around us in a heightened way? When our level of love goes up, our level of appreciation and gratitude goes up as well. Look around you. ANNOUNCEMENTS - WEEK OF MAY 24, 2020 COVID-19 UPDATE: All worship and ministry gatherings typically held in person are now online for the foreseeable future. Join us on Facebook live on Sundays at 10:30am!

Opportunities to Connect Online

Our world is experiencing an unprecedented hardship of social distancing. But while we can't meet together in person, ministry is still happening at MUMC, living out our vision to be Alive in Christ in our community so that our community is Alive is Christ. Church is not a place, but the people!

Stay connected to www.facebook.com/middlesexumchurch for

daily worship videos, devotions, and prayers! Pastor Jay goes live

on Thursday and Friday for reflections on the upcoming worship

scripture. Have a God-moment or reflection you'd like to share?

Sign up on your connection card or contact the church office.

Join our Facebook group 'Sunday's Coming at MUMC' to go deeper

and discuss the scriptures from Sunday’s worship.

Look for a bedtime story on Tuesdays, Thursdays

and Saturdays at 7:30pm on the church's Facebook

page.

Adult Zoom Life Groups:

Tuesday Afternoons with Pastor Jay - Join Pastor Jay on Tuesdays at 4:00pm for a time of supporting and praying for each other while socially distant.

Wednesday Night Bible Study - Join Pastor

Rachel on Wednesdays at 7:00pm as we read

the scripture for the following Sunday, reflect on

it's meaning, and pray for one another.

Sign up on your connection card or email the

church office for the login information to join either

of these groups. No internet connection? You

can join by phone! Got an idea for a zoom life

group? We'd love to hear it!

You are invited

to share with us!

During this time of global

pandemic, we have learned that

we are better together. In an

effort to create community and

connect with one another,

Connections Coordinator Linda

Kimmel has created a survey to gather information about

individuals and families at MUMC. The information will be

used to help strengthen our ministries and, with your

permission, to create an informal directory. You are invited

to complete this 5 minute survey here.

FREE TIME ON YOUR HANDS? DO

YOU LIKE TO MOW LAWNS?

Summer will soon be here and we need

volunteers to mow the church grounds. If

interested, please contact the church

office or sign up on your connection card.

Thank you!

My Mom, Vera Kimmel, will turn 99 on Wednesday, May 27th.

Since she cannot have visitors in the nursing home, I thought

MUMC could shower her with cards! If you send her a card,

please identify yourself as being from MUMC. Her address is:

Tremont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center

Attention—Vera Kimmel, Room 712

44 Donaldson Road

Tremont, PA 17981

Linda and I will visit her from outside her

window with signs, cupcakes, and talk to

her via iPad. Thank you, Glenn Kimmel

Ways to Help Community CARES

Thank you to all who have been supporting our friends at Community CARES during this time of uncertainty. Here are some ways you can continue to support CARES:

Donation of Urgent Needs - for a full listing of their current needs, please visit the CARES website at https://www.morethanshelter.org and click on "monthly needs".

Donation of Meals - they are seeking meals to serve up to 60 people. Please visit their website and click on the "SignUpGenius" icon to sign-up. **Please Note: All urgent needs and meals are to be dropped off at the Stuart

Community Center located at 415 Franklin Street, Carlisle. There is a drop off table in the back parking lot; please ring the doorbell and someone will come out and get your items.

If you have specific questions about providing meals or current needs, you may contact Emily Gochenaur at: [email protected]

Donations Being Accepted at Mission Central Over these past several weeks, you may have had some time to

organize items throughout your house and came across things to

donate. Mission Central has a contactless drop-off available to

accept your donations! There are containers located outside,

near their donation doors, Monday-Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm;

please note that they ask you refrain from dropping anything off

outside of these hours or when there is inclement weather. At this

time, they are accepting all donations except furniture (which will

resume at a later date). They are also continuing their medical

drop-off in the labeled carts. Thank you for your support within our

local community!

Mission Central is located at 5 Pleasant View Drive,

Mechanicsburg PA 17050

Collection Event for

Capital Area Pregnancy Center

Mother’s Day (May 10th) through

Father’s Day (June 21st) These past few weeks sure have been

different, but one thing that has not changed is the way Capital

Area Pregnancy Center (CAPC) is providing services for those in

need and saving lives! In “normal” circumstances, around Mother’s

Day you would have received a baby bottle for the Annual Baby

Bottle Blast event. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to

use baby bottles this year. However, we can still support our

friends at CAPC! During this event, as you feel led, donations can

be made through checks and online. If you are able to give above

and beyond your regular weekly offering during this time,

please consider supporting this important mission.

To donate by check: please mail your donation to the church

office made payable to “MUMC” with Baby Bottle Blast noted in the

memo line.

To donate online: please use the “Give Online” link on our

website or the “Give Plus” App on your smartphone, and select a

one-time gift for Capital Area Pregnancy Center.

Donations may be made anytime between Sunday, May 10th

through Sunday, June 21st. Thank you so much and if you have

any questions or concerns, you may contact us by

email at [email protected]

CAPC!

HAVE YOU TRIED E-GIVING?

Step 1: Go to: http://middlesexumc.com/ and click “GIVE

ONLINE” or download the GIVEPLUS+ App on your

smartphone. Step 2: Login or create a new account.

Step 3: Make a one-time gift or set up a recurring contribution.

Thank you for your generosity during this time of uncertainty. We

have been overwhelmed with the number of new online givers and

offering that has flooded our mailbox. Your continued gifts play a

crucial role in helping us keep our financial commitments to ministry

and mission so that we can continue to be “Alive in Christ in our

community so that our community is Alive in Christ.”
