    Suspense is an anxious or uncertainfeeling while waiting for something to

    happen or become known.

    Mystery is something that can not beexplained or understood, something

    puzzling.

    -Some light at the bottom of the stairs, but the further

    up it gets, the darker the light becomes

    -There is a red strip going down the stairs- red is

    associated with danger, warning and alert-Point of view shot of the man walking up the stairs

    -You hear each squeak of every stair the man steps on

    -As he gets very close to the top, non-diegetic music

    starts to play, it gets louder and louder

    -There is a door at the top

    -It flings open without him even flickering a movement

    -The lights in the room fall down to the ground

    instantly and it goes pitch black

    arrive, this creates Suspense The audience dont know where the stairs lead to and why

    a darkened corridor with a door at the end of it,out of which a beam of light shines, laminating athin strip down the corridor

    -During the tilt, a red carpet is shown with dark

    enclosing walls-As soon as the long shot of the door appears, a

    quiet piano starts to gently play/ a slow sound of

    water dripping to the ground starts to play

    sense of claustrophobia. This creates Suspense The audience wonder what is behind this door and why is

    this person there alone. This creates Mystery

    The glow of a tip of a cigarette inshadowy darkness

    -To begin this mystery there is a close up of a young girl with herhood up, lurking in the darkness down an ally in Central London.At this point the audience are unable to see her face.

    -As she smokes the cigarette , all you can see is the glow of thetip and the deep cuts over her dirty hands.

    -This follows to a cut to a long shot of her and a pan of theoverflowing ally bins, smashed glass and rubbish. This is so the

    audience get a round idea of where the young girl is.-Close- up of the girl smoking. She lifts her face and looks up atthe street lights , her makeup is smudged and she has a bloodylip, this is done to foreshadow a sense of fright and despair.

    -Girl throws cigarette to the ground. The camera follows the falluntil it gradually ends to a extreme close up on the cigarette

    slowly burning out. This is a representation on the girls lifeheading for ruins.

    -The last shot is a mid shot of the girl walking out of the ally anddisappearing into the crowds of London leaving he audiencedesperate to find out more about the girl.

    -The fact that the girls face is in darkness due to it beingcovered by her hood makes the audience question why they

    cant see her. -The audience wonder why she has cuts on her hands and

    face and why she happens to be alone in an alleyway in thedarkness

    man hanging by his finger tips from the guttering of a roof highabove the teeming, heedless city

    -Mid shot of a man clinging on from a guttering of a roofabove a city. This makes the audience alert to danger,concluding to the ending result and the harsh realitywhich is death.

    -Close- up shot of the man slowly losing grip, his fingersare hurting him due to the weight and the struggle to

    keep grip.-Non-diegetic music is used at a fast beat to highlightthe urgency of the man finding safety.

    -Fast sharp cut to the clock to portray a sense that timeis running out for the man that is stuck; there's nowhere to go, no safety. This follows to an aerial shot of

    passerbys , which is concurrent to the fast music , thisforeshadows no one can help , he is isolated away fromsociety.

    - The man cries for help to show he is beyond desperatefor his safety

    The viewers are uncertain as to what is going to happen tothe man, will he survive or will he not?

    The fast cuts create a feeling of time running out, this makesthe audience worried and highlights suspense

    -cross-cuts to his feet slowly walking

    -cross-cuts to mid shot of cabinet

    -close- up of scotch bottle empty

    -cross-cut of neon sign starting to flicker,

    about to break (metaphorical as the mancould be about to be in danger/die)

    -mid-shot of man approaching cabinet

    The audience get frightened as it is a point of view shot and theperson is walking slowly towards the shower curtain. The audiencealso get scared when the shower curtain is just about to be pulled

    open. This creates Suspense

    The door is ajar so the audience want to find out what is behind it.They also want to know why there is blood running down the bathtub. This creates Mystery
