MAGAZINE TITLE

Question two clearly portrayed that a simple word would be the best magazine title, in the majority of participants opinion with 50% in contrast to a pun which received 31.8%. I will likely use a simple word as most people will prefer this and it clearly signifies what the magazine will be about unlike the other ideas.

TYPE OF ARTIST

This question emphasized that the participants would like to hear news and interviews about both upcoming and popular artists, with half of the applicants selecting upcoming and half popular. I am going to feature both type of artists so that it branches out on a wider scale in terms of my audience as the magazine aims to cater to all within the indie genre. Indie magazines typically feature new bands anyways, with few popular artists however I want to signify both and this is one of my unique selling points.

FEATURESThe majority of participants in this question represented that 31.8% would like to see striking make up as a mean feature of the image on the front cover. Both eye contact and unique props received 22.7%, so I am going to use striking make up combined with unique props to make the magazine attract the audience to the best of its ability.

INTERACTIONTwitter was the most popular factor within this query, taking a whooping 72.7% of this question. Social networking is vital within this generation as is the new media (eg. Apps). I am going to use social networking to a great extent to attract more of the audience as it gives the audience a more personal relationship with the magazine.

RELEASEThis question gave the participants the opportunity to type in how often they read magazines instead of selecting like in prior answers. The majority of my participants said they read magazines ‘not often’, ‘once a month’ followed by a few ‘weekly’ results. This supports my decision of making my magazine a monthly edition as it will contain more features and give the audience more time to read the magazine as they have a month, in contrast to if it was a weekly magazine which is more based upon gossip and people who have time to generally keep up with magazines, which contradicts my target audience as they are generally very busy and have little time to read magazines on a weekly basis.

FREEBIESThe majority of participants in my survey said that they prefer to receive freebies with magazines, a mighty 77.3% which contrasts to 22.7% for no freebies. I will feature freebies like MP3 downloads and posters to attract my audience into purchasing the magazine.

COMPETITIONSThe majority of participants in my survey said that they prefer to participate in competitions in a magazine, a mighty 76.2% which contrasts to 23.8% for no competitions. I will feature competitions like tickets to festivals and meeting favoured bands to attract my audience into purchasing the magazine, and give them a personal relationship with the magazine.

WHY PEOPLE READ MAGAZINES

This question gave the participants the opportunity to type in why they read magazines instead of selecting like in prior answers. The majority of participants said they like to read magazines to gain information and because they are entertaining. They also like to learn about what songs are in the charts and to find out about new artists. They enjoy reading articles and seeing events and reviews. This supports my choice of creating an Indie magazine because these fit within all of the aims that I aim to make.

PURPOSEThe vast majority of participants said they like to read magazines to be entertained and informed, both with a 68.2%. This supports my decision of choosing an indie magazine as they both meet these requirements and back up what the audience want, which is portrayed in the previous answer. Participants also enjoy to be inspired and like to learn things, with 50% for being inspired and learning 31.8%.
