RESPONSES FROM THE CITIZENS’ ASSEMBLY
HEADLINES
• 102 RESPONSES (Survey Monkey 80%, Face to Face 20%, plus Citizens’ Assembly discussion)
• More people satisfied than dissatisfied with service received (50% cf 30%)
• Over half did not have surgery explained • Large majority (77%) want treatment at
nearest local hospital• Patient, family & medical team to work
together to make decisions
KEY MESSAGES (1)
• A good service is one which:- Has good access to consultants/specialists and well-trained staff, providing ‘first class’ medical treatment- Gives patients and families good information, including risks and benefits of surgery- Delivers a safe, compassionate and prompt service with good outcomes which includes plans for aftercare
KEY MESSAGES (2)
• Develop use of technology to ensure access across the region to top class advice/input to emergency surgery
• Acknowledge the patient/family ‘voice’ in helping to determine what treatment and aftercare should be delivered
