• Beforemakingorchanginganyconnectionsbetweenthespeakersandyouraudioequipment,ensurethatallequipmentisturnedoff.

• Anyfaultsorproblemsshouldbereferredtoaqualifiedrepairtechnician.ContactyoursupplierorInvolveAudioforinformation.

• DonotplaceanyliquidsonoraroundtheSURROUNDMASTER.

Quick start installation

1) Unpack

Removeyoursurroundmasterfromitsboxandremoveallpackagingandconnecttopower.

2) Speaker Positioning

TSS: Two Speaker Surround

Positionthespeakersasyouwouldwithaconventionalstereosetupwiththelistenerbetween1to2speakerseparationwidthsinfrontofthespeaker.Ensureyouaresittingexactlyatthehalf-waypointofthetwospeakers.Notethatthe2-channelsurroundeffectworksoutsidethiszonebuttheeffectisreducedandvarieswiththelistener.

Youmayalsouseasubwooferwiththissystemconfiguration.

4 Speaker Surround – ideal system

Situateyourspeakersevenlyinfourcornerpositions,an equal distance from the listener - for a mostrealisticandtruelycircularsurroundwerecommendthatthelistenersitsascloseaspossibletothecentralposition between all speakers in the room. Sincemany roomarrangementsdon’t suit theplacementofrearspeakersbehindtheseatedposition,therearspeakersmayneedtobeplacedmoretothesidesbutstillbehindthe listener,ascloseaspossible to thediagrambelow:

You may also use a sub woofer with this systemconfiguration.

5.1 Channel Surround

Pleaserefertothediagramtotherightforthestandardarrangementfor5.1surroundsoundconfigurationthatyoumayalreadyhaveestablished.

Wherever possible and practical, wesuggest using the 4-channel systemabove with the centre speaker in theusualposition,

Youmayalsouseasubwooferwiththissystemconfiguration.

3) Amplifier SettingsIfyouhaveasurroundsoundamplifieryouramplifiermaybesettoaparticularmodewhichwillnegatetheSurroundMasterexperience.Ensureyouhaveyouramplifiersettoapassthroughmodesuchas“DirectMode”.Pleaserefertoyouramplifiermanualforfurtherinstructions.

IfyouleaveyouramplifersetonProLogicII,TheatreorothersurroundsoundenhancementmodesyouwillcanceltheSurroundMastersurroundsoundexperience.

4) Connections

CablesThree cables (RCA) are provided with your SurroundMaster. You will find these beneath thecardboard insertwithin theSurroundMasterpackaging.One isan inputcable toconnectyourStereoOut signal to the SurroundMaster line input jacks. Two additional cables are providedwiththreeplugsoneachend.ThesecablescanbeusedtoconnectyourAudioamplifierswiththeSurroundMaster.

ThesecablesareincludedtoensureyourSurroundMastercanbeusedimmediately.Youmaywanttousehigherqualitycablesastheymayimprovethequalityofyoursystem.

TheSurroundMasteralwaysaccepts left/right stereo inputs forallmodes.Connect theseeitherdirectlytoyoursource(CD,DVD,TUNERorTV)linecableoutputsORtothepre-outofyouramplifier.

2ch- TSS (Two Speaker Surround)

PRE AMP to AMPLIFIERConnectcablesfromthe2CHSURROUNDoutputsofyourSurroundMastertoyourstereoamplifierPOWERAMPINPUTifyouareconnectingtheinputoftheSurroundMastertothePREAMPOUTPUT.

DIRECT to AMPILIFIERConnectcablesfromthe2CHSURROUNDoutputsofyourSurroundMastertoyourstereoamplifierAUXILIARYINPUT(orequivalent)ifyouareconnectingdirectlyfromyoursource(CD,DVDetc)

IMPORTANT!IF THE FRONT SWITCH ON THE SURROUND MASTER IS SET TO FOUR SPEAKER+ MODE (Factory Setting) YOU MUST SET IT TO 2 CHANNEL MODE.

TO DO SO: 1) SWITCH THE SURROUND MASTER OFF;

2) CHANGE THE FRONT MODE SWITCH TO 2 CH;

3) TURN THE SURROUND MASTER BACK ON.

4ch - Four Channel Surround

PRE AMP to AMPLIFIERIfyouareconnectingfromapre-amptotheinputoftheSurroundMaster,connectfrontandrearfromthe4CHSURROUNDoutputsofyourSurroundMastertotheinputsofyourPOWERAMP(multichannel,or2xstereoamplifiers,4xmonoblocksandsoon)

DIRECT to AMPILIFIERIfyouareconnectingdirectlyfromyoursource(CD,DVDetc)totheinputoftheSurroundMaster,connectfrontandrearfromthe4CHSURROUNDoutputsofyourSurroundMastertoyourreceiveramplifier(multichannel)inputs.

IMPORTANT!IF THE FRONT SWITCH IS SET TO 2 CHANNEL MODE ON THE SURROUND MASTER THEN YOU MUST SET IT TO 4+ CHANNEL MODE TO ENABLE ALL 4, 4.1, 5 or 5.1 MODES.

TO DO SO: 1) SWITCH THE SURROUND MASTER OFF

2) CHANGE THE FRONT MODE SWITCH TO 4 CH;

3) TURN THE SURROUND MASTER BACK ON.

PRE AMP to AMPLIFIERIfyouareconnectingtheinputoftheSurroundMastertothePREAMPOUTPUT,connectfront,rear,andcentrefromthe5.1CHSURROUNDoutputsofyourSurroundMastertoyour5channelsPOWERAMPinputs.ConnecttheSuboutputfromtheSurroundMastertoyouractiveorpassivesub-wooferaccordingly.

DIRECT to AMPILIFIERIfyouareconnectingdirectlyfromyoursource(CD,DVDetc),connectfronts,rears,centreandsubfromthe5.1CHSURROUNDoutputsofyourSurroundMastertoyoursurroundreceiver5.1INPUTS.

IMPORTANT!IF THE FRONT SWITCH IS SET TO 2 CHANNEL MODE ON THE SURROUND MASTER THEN YOU MUST SET IT TO 4+ CHANNEL MODE TO ENABLE ALL 4, 4.1, 5 or 5.1 MODES.

TO DO SO: 1) SWITCH THE SURROUND MASTER OFF

2) CHANGE THE FRONT MODE SWITCH TO 4 CH;

3) TURN THE SURROUND MASTER BACK ON.

IMPORTANT NOTE!Ifyouchangemodesfrom2to4channelsortheotherwayaround,theunitmustbeturnedoffandbackonafter5seconds,toallowthesoftwaretoresettothenewmode.

Fun Things to Try with your Surround Master.

WiththepowerofftheSurroundMaster is inactiveandtheunimprovedstereosignalwillpassthrough.Thatis,thesignalsfromthesourcewillbepassedthroughasiftheSurroundMasterwerenotpresent.So,byturningtheSurroundMasteroffandonyoucaneasilydemonstratetheeffectoftheSurroundMaster.

AnothergreatdemonstrationofhowSurroundMasterperformscanbeseenifyoursystemhasrearspeakers.IfyoulistentoyoursystemwithonlytherearspeakersturnedonandtheSurroundMaster turnedoff,. youwillhear littleornothingcoming from the rear speakers. But, if youturntheSurroundMasteron,youcanheareverythingfromtheambientsoundpresentinmostrecordingstoafullpresentationofrearspeakersound,dependingontherecoding.
