Phil Simon Systems SUPPRESSING VALUES IN A CRYSTAL REPORT Suppressing Values One of the most powerful features in Crystal resides in its ability to exclude data based on meeting or not meeting certain conditions. The benefit here is twofold: 1. the speed of a report with a table linked only once is far superior to the same report with the table linked twice or more; 2. visually, it’s much simpler to look at and join a minimal number of tables. Let’s look at an example from the PAYDEDUCTN table. The following parameters have been created:

Report asks for these fields but does not filter on them (see select expert). Design view of report shows groupings – MTD, QTD, etc. Here is where we can suppress data that do not meet the previous-entered

Note that the field is ‘quarter’ and the prompt is ?quarter. Thus, quarters 1&2 are suppressed, retrieving only the desired values.
