Suppressing Values One of the most powerful features in Crystal resides in its ability to exclude data based on meeting or not meeting certain conditions. The benefit here is twofold: 1. the speed of a report with a table linked only once is far superior to the same report with the table linked twice or more; 2. visually, it’s much simpler to look at and join a minimal number of tables. Let’s look at an example from the PAYDEDUCTN table. The following parameters have been created:

Report asks for these fields but does not filter on them (see select expert). Design view of report shows groupings – MTD, QTD, etc. Here is where we can suppress data that do not meet the previous-entered

Note that the field is ‘quarter’ and the prompt is ?quarter. Thus, quarters 1&2 are suppressed, retrieving only the desired values.
