Business Charity Luncheon supporting headspace Geelong 3rd MAY 2019 at GMHBA Stadium, Presidents Room We invite you to the 3rd headspace Geelong business charity luncheon raising funds for the headspace Geelong “Social Inclusion Program 2019” of which BCYF is the lead agency. The Rotary Club of Belmont and its Community Partners are seeking your support to “make a difference” to the health and wellbeing of young people in Geelong (12-25 years old). Headspace Geelong is the busiest centre across Australia and delivered 11,428 occasions of service to some 4,000 active clients. Unfortunately the demands for help far exceed the resources. The funds raised at the 2017 and 2018 events has allowed the headspace Geelong Social Inclusion Program to deliver the following to our Geelong youth: over 300 individual mentoring sessions from an engagement and assessment clinician; and • over 60 community based group sessions. We continue to support the headspace Social Inclusion Project because: • Current core funding does not allow assertive follow up of disengaged young people; It targets the disengaged = not engaged in school or study; High risk of suicide – leading cause of death in the age group and recent suicides of males within our region; There is a high risk of poor outcomes without intervention; • Creates a positive environment and experiences with a positive role model for young people that may not have that opportunity in their life; • A reduction in social isolation and psychological distress levels; • Increase in social connectedness to community and positive experiences; • Increase communication skills and confidence. Rotary Club of Belmont and its Community Partners plan to make the Business Charity Luncheon reflective of the serious issues, but a balance of entertaining speakers and a focus on having a good time for all. You can support this event through event sponsorship package, table sponsorship package and/or auction item donations. All contributions will directly help improve the health and wellbeing of our Geelong disengaged youth. Further details and ticket order form are attached. COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Andrew DaddoAndrew has managed to have a crack at just about every aspect of the entertainment industry, probably more out of necessity than by design. He’s appeared on TV, presented radio programs, podcasts, appeared on stage and even made a few movies. Maybe best of all, Andrew’s an accomplished author. He’s written 27 books of various sizes, weights and colours. These include picture books, chapter books, short story collections, novels and a vague biography.

Tony ParkTony was born in 1964 and grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney. He has worked as a newspaper reporter in Australia and England, a government press secretary, a public relations consultant, and a freelance writer. He also served 34 years in the Australian Army Reserve, including six months in Afghanistan in 2002. He and his wife divide their time between two homes, one in Sydney and another in South Africa on the border of the Kruger National Park. He is the author of

fifteen novels set in Africa, including co-author of Part of the Pride (with Kevin Richardson), War Dogs (with Shane Bryant), The Grey Man (with John Curtis) and The Lost Battlefield of Kokoda and Walking Wounded (with Brian Freeman).
