NOVEMBER 21, 2021, OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE

Dear friends in Christ, Greetings of Peace, Hope and Joy to each one of you! This weekend, we have Fr. Albert Kemboi, a missionary Priest from Kenya, working in our Diocese. He will be celebrating all four masses in the collaborative. On behalf of all the parishioners, I extend a warm welcome to Fr. Albert. Fr. Albert will be talking to us about his mission in Kenya. Here is a brief write up from Fr. Albert.

Every year, each parish is allowed to invite a priest to make a mission appeal. So, this year, we are inviting Fr. Albert for this purpose. Since we did not yet have our annual collection for the missions, on 20th and 21st, at all masses, we will be having a second collection. Part of the money will go to Fr. Albert’s mission and a part of the collection will be sent to our Diocesan Mission office, as part of our contribution to the world missions. I am sure you will come forward generously to support the missions. God bless you for your gener-osity. This Sunday is the Solemnity of Christ, King of the Universe, and it is also the last Sunday of this liturgical year. May Christ reign as the king of our hearts and of our families. Our mission is to collaborate with Jesus in building up his kingdom. This Sunday, we have a con-crete way of making this happen, through our generous contribution to the missions in different parts of the world. As we come to the end of yet another liturgical year, we raise our hearts to God in thanksgiving for the numerous blessings we have received as a community from God. May we continue to grow as a family, united in genuine affection for one another and deeply rooted in our love for Jesus. In Christ, Fr. Simon

Kalamazoo - Lodwar Sister Diocese Relationship Bishop Paul Bradley has announced that the Diocese of Kalamazoo has entered into a “Sister Diocese” relation-ship with the Diocese of Lodwar, Kenya. The goal of this relationship is to foster joint learning and sharing of gifts. Fr. Albert Kemboi; Parish priest of St. Ambrose, Parchment (our exchange priest from Lodwar) and Patri-cia Curtis will be present at all masses Nov. 20th and 21st to share with us, opportunities of the Sister Diocese efforts. This is not to replace the Sister Parish efforts. Blessings upon you all as we share the opportunities.

Happy Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Proclamation

The first Thanksgiving Proclamation under the Constitution was sent to the exec-utives of the States by the President George Washington in a brief letter, October 3, 1789. This form is recorded in the “Letter Book” in the City of New York Washington Papers.

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor, and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanks-giving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many single favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.” Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks, for his kind care and pro-tection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation, for the single and manifold mercies, and the favorable inter-position of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war, for the great degree of tranquility, un-ion, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed, for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish con-stitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge and in general for all the great and various favors which He hath been pleased to confer upon us. And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our pray-ers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions, to ena-ble us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly by constantly being a government of wise, just and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed, to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord. To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and Us, and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.
