Support Military Marriages as Troops Return

About 4 thousand soldiers returned from war back home. After all they have been through, there are challenges for them to reenter the society. There is the post traumatic stress, they have to return to their daily jobs and normal lives. Unfortunately, after the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan began in 2001, according to Fox News, the rate of the military divorces has risen for about 42 percent.

In First Kiss to Lasting Bliss, I've written a text about a couple that went through a year long ordeal in the Iraq and had plenty of challenges when they returned. With great help of the community and parents, they managed to maintain their marriage and reconnect with their four kids. There are plenty of tips on how to help with separations in the military and meeting military black singles, however it's not our theme right now. Now, we want to talk about what we can do to support these families.

There are thousands of military personnel that were separated from families for years. Once back, not everything went butter smooth. There were plenty of obstacles to overcome. Dennis Rainey, CEO of FamilyLife, wrote about the return, happiness, a period of unbridled love, but this isn't something that lasts. According to him, first 90 days are the period in which these families will struggle the most and have to achieve it all.

Rainey said: The most common pitfalls during this post-deployment period include maintaining unrealistic expectations, rushing the transition, renegotiating roles, and dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder,. Support and resources are needed during this period to help these families.

If you do know a couple or family like this, offer them your help, with yardwork, housework, finding a job, or just be a good listener.

I would like to give my personal thanks to the people who defend our country and stand tall for our ideals and our safety. It is our duty as the citizens they risk their lives for to support them and assist them in the ways we can so they and their families can go through this tough time easier.

Among the soldiers, there are those who will come in a worse shape than they went in. The same goes for the police. They both protect us, from the threats inside and outside our country, and deserve our gratitude and support.
