Who are we?The New Parent Support Program (NPSP) is a profes-sional team of social workers, marriage and family ther-apists and nurses who focus on providing one-on-one support for new parents. The program helps parents, including expecting parents, develop the skills they need to provide a nurturing environment for their children. NPSP is free and voluntary for all services offered.

Having a new baby in the home is a pleasure and a challenge for most parents. But for military families who are separated from extended family, parenthood can pose special concerns. To help parents cope with the challenges, the military has developed the NPSP.

Through a variety of programs including home visits, Baby Boot Camp and Parenting Proudly classes and more, the NPSP will help your family cope with the unique, everyday demands and challenges of raising a family in the military.

Who is eligible for NPSP?All military families and single Marines who are expecting a child or have a child under six years of age are eligible to participate free of charge for all services offered.

What if we are not new parents? Even if you have been raising your family for a while, new ages and stages bring different challenges. The NPSP offers you the opportunity to express your con-cerns and ask questions about babies, young children and family relationships.

What if this isn’t our first baby? The addition of a new brother or sister to the family can often present new challenges and change. Demands on your time are different with more than one child in the home. Our program helps develop support networks and answers questions while your family experiences these changes. Sometimes, even the marital relationship is stressed. We can help you to address some of these issues and open the lines of communication.

When will you come to our home?Home visits are arranged between your home visitor and your family at your convenience. Families may schedule visits so both parents are present and are able to acquire parenting skills together to care for their growing family.

How do we enroll? The NPSP is easy to join. Just give us a call at (808) 257-8803 or visit us in Bldg 216, Marine and Family Programs, C.A.A.R.E Center, Room 59.
