Job Overview The supply chain manager is a core member of the team who will be responsible for managing all facets of the supply chain side of the business, including purchasing, production, inventory management, logistics, distribution, and more. This candidate must additionally be willing and able to take on tasks and assignments that might be otherwise outside of their normal job description. The candidate must not only excel at the technical side of the job, but also be a good cultural fit with the young and energetic people that make up the Birch Benders team. Job Responsibilities Production & Procurement o Purchasing all ingredients and materials necessary for production o Planning production with co-packer and managing production schedule o Maintaining and growing relationship with current and new suppliers o Perform ingredient and packaging research to reduce costs of goods sold o Review and approval of supplier invoices o Serve as day-to-day contact with co-packer; manage/grow relationship with co-packer Inventory Management o Manage inventory levels at co-packer and other warehouses o Set up an efficient and cost-effective ERP system o Manage and resolve any discrepancy issues including over, short and damaged goods Logistics Management o Set up and manage all inbound and outbound freight, from small parcel shipments to truckload o Develop strategic plan to reduce total freight spend o Provide customer service support for inbound and outbound shipments o Handle, submit, and monitor all freight-related claims Quality Assurance & Certifications o Maintain and handle all product certifications, including but not limited to: organic, kosher, gluten free, etc. o Maintain updated QA documentation for all ingredients and suppliers, including specifications, nutritional information, company certifications, etc. o Handle all QA related issues and inquiries from customers, co-packer, etc. Prepare regular internal operations reports Other project management as necessary Qualifications 3-5 years experience in food supply chain or food manufacturing management Excellent computer skills, namely Microsoft Office suite, and any other necessary ERP software Must be extremely well organized, resourceful, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with an ability to build and handle many different projects at a time Strong analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills Excellent time-management skills and ability to work with tight and variable deadlines Compensation Competitive salary plus benefits
