Schedule Appointments In Order To?

Handle Credit Cards?

HOW WILL YOU

• Avoid congestion in Waiting Area

• Properly sanitize tools between clients

• If you use a touch pad, it should be disinfected after each use.

• Ask Client to swipe their Credit Card rather than handing it to the front desk staff or you.

• Consider using applications such as Apple Pay or Venmo, so you can avoid physical contact between your client and your salon equipment and surfaces.

T H I N G S TO CO N S I D E R

PRIOR TO OPENING:• Remove magazines, coffee bars and candy

containers

• Schedule disinfecting every 1-2 hours reception desk, door handles, phones and writing implements.

• No handshakes. No hugs. No high-fives. For now.

• Ask clients to wash/sanitize hands as soon as they enter the salon/barbershop

• Provide Hand Sanitizer at the reception desk and at each stylist/barber station

• Are you able to keep interior and exterior doors open to avoid having clients and staff touch door handles?

• Are your stylist/barber chairs 6 feet apart?

• Remove any community/shared back bar styling products and replace with products for each station. Pay close attention to products that come in jar-like containers or require a stylist to place hands in the container. Ask stylist to sanitize hands prior to using these types of products or use disposable applicators after each use

• Have plenty of sanitation and disinfectant on hand for break rooms/shared areas.

DISINFECTION REMINDERS FROM BARBICIDE®

• Disinfectants must be EPA-registered and labeled as bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal.

• Disinfection will work on a clean item, so cleaning before disinfecting is the first step. Methods to clean: soap & water, chemical cleaners (Ship-Shape) or cleaning wipes.

• Contact time on the label MUST be observed for disinfectants to work. Contact time refers to how long the surface must stay visibly wet with the disinfectant to destroy all pathogens listed on the label.

• Disinfectant for immersion must be made fresh daily and replaced if it becomes contaminated sooner.

• Disinfection is for hard, non-porous surfaces (glass, metal, plastic or synthetic materials)

• Porous/soft surfaces cannot be disinfected but can be cleaned. This could include but not limited to: chairs covered in porous material, towels, cloth and your hands & body.

• Demonstrate your dedication to providing safe services in the salon, spa or barbershop by becoming BARBICIDE® Certified! Go to https://barbicide.com/certification/ for more details.

M OV I N G FO RWA R D EVERY CLIENT, EVERY DAY!

• Clean, disinfected brushes, combs, hair clips and capes must be available for every client. Make sure your salon has enough of these supplies for every client or enough time in between clients to properly disinfect these tools.

• Disinfect arm rests on chairs if made of non-porous materials after every client.

• Disinfect electrical appliances after every service and allow for the proper disinfection time according to the label.

• Clean and disinfect shampoo bowls and nozzles after every service and allow for the proper disinfection time according to the label.

GETTING YOUR SALON OR BARBERSHOP READY:

• Clean and disinfect all non-porous surfaces in your salon or barbershop: counter-tops, light switches, handles, keyboards, credit card machines, rolling carts, drawer handles, stations, any containers used for storage, waiting room chairs (if non-porous), etc.

• Clean and disinfect all electrical tools: Clippers, trimmers, hair dryers, curling irons, flat irons and shears

• Clean chairs and headrests. NOTE that porous materials cannot be disinfected. Using a disinfectant on porous materials can damage the material.

• Clean and disinfect shampoo bowls and nozzles.
