ABOUT US OUR DESIGN

Ian Foo and Lauren Turnbaugh founded Hypr Hawaii SUP and Surf in Kona, Hawaii, in 2003.

With their love for getting out on the water and knowing that the Hawaiian landscape is best viewed from the sea, they have been pioneers of the stand up paddle board resurgence that started on the beaches of Hawaii and which has now spread across the world. Hypr is derived from the two words that sum up the inspiration for the boards - Hawaii and Performance. We decided to spell it our way so you know when you are buying one of our boards that you are buying the best in high performance - HYPR!

All Hypr Hawaii boards have been designed with high performance in mind. The centre of the board has a unique 10mm deep double concave which increases lift, improves tracking, and makes these boards extraordinarily stable for their width. This advanced hydrodynamic design channels the water flow over the fins, giving a smoother, faster, and more stable glide. Our patented hull design is also truly something special. After the first few strokes of the paddle, the upward sloping chines move the lateral waterline inward to lift the board effortlessly. Match that with the bottom of the rail edges that slope upwards and you get speed from the moment you take off. In fact, the rails have a 3” slope towards the inner chine on each side which makes the board feel 6” narrower while on the move, creating the fastest in high performance hull design. Let’s not forget the aesthetics. Each board is individually hand-made by highly skilled artisans using the very finest materials available and comes in a range of finishes and sizes to suit your needs. These beautiful boards are unlike anything else in design and

construction, and although they are beautiful enough to adorn a wall, they are actually built to be used and to give lasting pleasure. So please don’t hesitate to contact the team to discuss your requirements and to get the best in high performing boards for your lifestyle. All our boards feature a super light EPS foam core, solid wood stringer, solid nose and tail blocks, gore-tex vent valve, and the patented hull design. Each board comes with its own board bag, honeycomb fins, leash, and paddle which is expertly cut to size to suit each paddler. The paddle is ergonomically designed with an oval shaft to optimise your comfort and grip. This makes each stroke more powerful, helping you to cut through the water.

www.hyprhawaii.co.uk www.hyprhawaii.co.uk04 05

If you are looking for versatility this is the board for you! Mid to light weight riders will reap the benefits of this multi faceted board.

Whether you are looking to flat water paddle, SUP yoga, or catch waves, the volume on the Ohana-iki board thins out towards the rail to get the best balance between stability and manoeuvrability. For the surfers amongst you, the Ohana-iki gives a longboard style surf experience for mellow and easy carving on long rides. Loose when on the tail, the Ohana-iki responds effortlessly to your feet so you can turn with ease and make the most of each wave.

Jumping aboard the 11’ 2” Ohana, you instantly feel the stability!

Paddlers can enjoy easy paddling on our flagship board that is great for flat water paddling or surfing in small to medium sized waves. With its extra thickness and wide round nose, this board offers a particularly high volume which is great for beginners, the heavier paddler, yoga enthusiasts, or families looking to enjoy the water with their dogs or small children on board too. The extreme stability of this board also makes it a great option for paddlers looking to take their first steps into small wave surfing. Once you head into the surf, the extra width and length of this board will make it easier to catch smaller waves and to catch waves earlier, meaning more time enjoying the ride.

KAIMANA 9’6” KAIMANA 10’6”

www.hyprhawaii.co.uk www.hyprhawaii.co.uk06 07

The mission of the Kaimana is to combine Hypr ultra-performance with comfortable stability and smooth glide.

The relaxed diamond tail combines the low drag of a pintail with the control of a square tail, and gives superlative manoeuvrability. At 150 litres the Kaimana is comfortable for larger experienced surfers or as a do-it-all board for light paddlers. The excitement begins when you start to plane, and this board paddles into waves beautifully, thanks to the tracking and control provided by the unique concaves. The slim rails and sharp edges make super-tight turns simple, and when you shift your weight to the centre of the board after a screaming bottom turn, you feel instant acceleration down the line as the concaves lift the board and shoot you forwards.

The 10-6 Kaimana adds flatwater distance paddling versatility and delivers extra glide compared to the 9-6, and is suitable for a wider range of paddlers and conditions.

That being said if wave riding is your passion and you want down the line speed without compromising too much manoeuvrability then the Kaimana can definitely handle it.Our 10’6 model has been tested in some of the most extreme conditions the ocean has to offer, charging 20ft monsters in Tahiti and giving the rider a thrill they’ll never forget.

As with all of our boards it features super light eps foam core, solid wood stringer, solid nose and tail blocks, gore-tex vent valve and our patented hull design.

GUN

Guns conjure up images of screaming down the face of a triple-overhead offshore wave. And these guns can certainly do that!

But what is less well-known is that guns also make extremely versatile all-round boards. The same sleek and long profile that allows you to get up enough speed to catch that monster wave also makes these boards speedy cruisers on flat water, and mega-fun small wave grovellers, able to pick up even the smallest summertime ripples. Hypr Hawaii guns have a special super-fast rocker. Combine this with the unique double concave that creates extraordinary levels of lift, these boards are probably the fastest surf-style boards you’ll ever paddle, in any conditions. This board is fast, gorgeous, and stable for its width. But most of all it is FAST.

The 12-6 and 14ft guns are super-capable downwind boards too, and the slim hard-railed design with beautifully balanced volume in nose and tail gives a huge amount of control for surfing downwind bumps. The 12-6 and 14 are just as capable for general ocean paddling and downwind as they are for surfing offshore reefs.

The 11-6 will catch any size wave, and is the quintessential high-performance all-round board for an intermediate to advanced paddler, or even light beginners. It probably paddles faster and catches waves easier than any other 11-6 on the market. The 10-6 gives more glide for earlier entry, perfect for competent surfers up to 90kg, while the 9-6 is for advanced surfers wanting to tackle serious juice while smiling from ear to ear. These are Hypr boards, for those who demand the ultimate in speed, performance, strength and beauty. Try one and see. The effect is immediate, the impression will last forever.

PONO 9’ PONO 10’

www.hyprhawaii.co.uk www.hyprhawaii.co.uk10 11

The smallest in the Pono range allows smaller or lighter riders to have the lightest board possible for their everyday needs whether it be rivers, open ocean or waves.

If you are looking to get into waves and you’re a bigger rider then this will certainly feel like a short board.

Dropping in quickly, even into smaller waves, allows rail-biting bottom turns with the board carrying speed even when execution is not perfect: this is a forgiving and flattering board guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

As with all of our boards, it features super light eps foam core, solid wood stringer, solid nose and tail blocks, gore-tex vent valve and our patented hull design.

The 10’ Pono is a classic example of a board displaying dimensions not reflective of its water performance in any way.

The Pono is a Swiss army knife model in that it will cruise along flat water with ease but step on the rail and you will be carving waves.

For medium to heavier riders this Is a perfect all round board and if you are hitting 100kg plus, then this can definitely be used as a short board style sup in surf.

As with all of our boards it features super light eps foam core, solid wood stringer, solid nose and tail blocks, gore-tex vent valve and our patented hull design.

PONO 11’ RACEBOARDS

www.hyprhawaii.co.uk www.hyprhawaii.co.uk12 13

At 11’ in length, and with a slight elongated nose, the Pono glides effortlessly.

This is a hybrid touring / small wave board. Although it doesn’t have a massive overall length, you will find it paddles with ease and before you know it you have chewed up miles.

Paddling out into surf you won’t need much in the way of size to start to glide. Picking up 1 foot waves with ease you can get to grips with moving around the board and start your progression.

Features include an offset handle to keep the stringer intact and allow an easier carry system with the board sat further up into your armpit also a cargo net has been fitted on the tail for those long excursions.

Our patented hull was created to make our boards surf as fast as possible and now we have transferred that design into our raceboards.

With our sloping chines the board stands at 24.5” but once you start putting power through it you will move like its 18.5” wide which means amazing tracking and speed.

Features a v channel on the deck tail for water to exit as quickly as possible on buoy turns. Multi Handle position for different riders choice.

Tracking is such a key point with race boards and ours is no different, our hull design has created such a narrow feel to these boards that the tracking will easily allow you to get 20 strokes per side before changing side. If you are able to position your weight correctly you can paddle on your strong side for a long as you need.
