Welcome to the May edition of the Sunshine Magazine.

Summer is coming… this month sees the start of Summer. The weather has turned and now we have lovely warm temperatures which will soon start to escalate as we get nearer July and August.

In this edition of the magazine we have written about the European Championship coming up starting the 8th of June

The 2012 edition of the Camposol Street Plan is on the streets. You can buy it from various outlets which are listed on page 16. Part of the money from the sale of a map goes to MAD, Making a Difference, so when you purchase the new map, you are also helping a very good cause.

We also this month take you on a trip around the world see page 6 and 16.

On page 20 we tell you about legends from Manchester City, coming to Playa Flamenca.

These areas are even more sensitive to the sun for several weeks.People who have experienced sunburn when young are at greater risk of skin cancer in later years even if they are not exposed to sunlight for long periods of time.

Bathing with Baking SodaPut 3-4 teaspoons of baking soda into a tub. Simply soak your body for 15 to 20 minutes. If too long, the skin will be dry and flaky. After bathing, do not use a towel. Let it dry by itself.

Rubbing Chamomile TeaChamomile has a calming effect and makes the body relaxes. Brew chamomile tea in a bowl, and then leave to cool. Take a sponge, dip, and then stick on the affected areas.

Applying Aloe VeraAloe Vera can reduce the pain and redness caused by sunburn. Split it into two and then apply directly to the irritated skin. Do it regularly as many as five to six times a day for several days.

Manchester City legends are coming to town

Sixteen former Manchester City footballers will be coming to the Orihuela Costa area in early June to compete in a pro-am football match at the new Deportiva near Playa Flamenca. The game,

thscheduled for the evening of Saturday 8 June, will be the highlight of a three day visit by some fine footballers as they will also attend a gala dinner at Goodfellas Restaurant and host a golf event at La Peraleja Golf Resort.

The entire event, sponsored jointly by Flamenca Beach bars Legends and The Lansdowne in association with Goodfellas Restaurant, is the culmination of many months of hard work by a small organising committee. Manchester City Legends have graced our shores for the past two years with some considerable success but this is the first time they have been here in such numbers and for such a long time in one place.

With all players and support staff staying in the immediate vicinity of the Flamenca Beach commercial centre – courtesy of ACE Properties – it is anticipated that the whole centre itself will be heaving with anticipation on all three evenings as a series of events, signings, auctions and raffles are planned.

The weekend gets underway with a gala dinner at thGoodfellas Restaurant on Thursday 6 June with

entertainment late into the evening next door at Legends Bar. Ticket prices including a four course meal are just 35 euros.

On the Friday, thirty lucky local golfers will get the chance to play “a round with a legend” as the week of events moves to La Peraleja Golf Resort where an 18 hole contest will be staged – cost just 60 euros including buggy.

But it is the Saturday which provides the fitting climax to the entire event with a football match against a local select eleven. Prior to the big match itself local youth team Junior Strikers will be playing against a Spanish junior team to provide a fitting warm-up to the big match. Entry will be by programme costing 5€ - under 14s accompanied by an adult will get in for free.

In addition to providing entertainment on a grand scale for many locals the aim is to raise money and awareness for the charity SANDS which assists families who suffer from the premature death of babies – a charity which is dear to the heart of main sponsors as one of their family had a still born child only a few months ago. In a referendum 66.5% of Swiss voters opted not to increase their annual holidays from four to six weeks.
