Why solar concentrators?
● One of the most promising renewable energy technologies
● Easy to manufacture in non-industrial setting (home workshop)
● Can be manufactured out of materials available at any hardware store
● Make renewable energy more accessible and affordable

We are thinking beyond cooking with solar concentrators...
Why SunnyDay is special?
All technologies developed at SunnyDay will be released as open-source tech drawings and documentation — anyone will be able to make the same devices (some examples here)
Why SunnyDay is special?
The event will not end just with awarding the winners and giving them prizes. It is about community and cooperation.
The concentrators developed are intended to be produced in non-industrial / small-scale production settings (home workshop or hackerspace)
What's new in 2015
● Going international. SunnyDay becomes international solar challenge. Solar hacker teams from all over the world are welcome!
● More power. The concentrators developed this year will be times more powerful than those on last year's hackathon.
● Global crowdfunding. We're crowdfunding globally to provide good rewards for bright minds and creative teams.
