However much the dogs might bark; the elephant will trample along its way and powerfully blow its trumpet too in the process. So for once, let's join hands with our corrupt communities, industrialists and babus and netas and see what makes them tick to give some meaning to the old adage “if you can't beat em, then join em”. Although corruption is the greatest evil that has kept more than 800 million Indians in poverty, at least for once, we need to acknowledge the manipulative intelligence of those Indians who are masters of corruption. And it is to India's credit that its greatest export is corruption and mind manipulation. Global corporations have taken note of this and many such enterprising Indians especially from Gujarat are working with several corporations and lobbying firms in the US and Europe helping to explore the legal loopholes to rig the system there and rip off those countries. An analysis of corruption among Indians easily concluded that manipulative intelligence is directly proportional to the level of corruption. And if this is true, then Gujarati businessmen are the most intelligent people in the world. They are the ones making the most money in India, the the US and Europe after having beaten the Sindhis by a huge margin. Which perfectly explains Modi's rise and Advani's fall. Gujaratis have to be commended for the fact that they are not only practice manipulative intelligence in India, but have also used the same techniques to illegally enter the US in droves and rip off America's trusting public to become the richest community in the US . One cannot deny the intelligence of these corrupt Gujaratis who took advantage of every loophole to bend US laws and in 3 decades, took over half of the motel and hotel industry, which is a huge success; unmatched by any other community in the US. The daring and cunning with which the Gujarati accomplished this has put even the Italian Mafia Dons to shame. In the US, the Italian Mafia was decimated because it was overtly illegal. But the Gujarati gang is much smarter than the Italian Mafia. It knows well how to covertly rip off America. Gujarati secrets of corrupt and unethical business practices don't leak to the authorities in the US due to the language barrier and the “kemcho” unity factor. Their dark secrets in the hotel and motel industry that are being exposed by other Indian communities in the US, make for a fascinating reading. If every other Indian community emulated the business secrets of these Gujarati hoteliers, Indians would be the richest people in in the world. When Gujaratis started immigrating to the US around 4 decades ago they found out that housing was the most expensive thing in the US. To counter that, a few Gujaratis joined hands and bought cheap motels, lived there and did business. They competed with other motels and hotels by lowering room rates as they personally had no expenses and furthermore, they indulged in various ingenious illegal and unethical practices to reduce operating expenses and overheads. They are still united in their goal to destroy the competition from American hotel owners by rigging room rates and rigging hotel prices. American hotel owners find it hard to compete with the room rates offered by these Gujaratis. Immigration fraud and labor fraud are the main cornerstones to their success. Most Gujarati motel owners spend up to USD.50,000 each to illegally infiltrate illiterate and semi literate Gujaratis from India into the US. These illegal immigrants work 24-7 as 'slaves' in the motel for 5 years or so in the hope of getting a green card one day. During this time they are only fed cheap rotis and vegetables and given used or donated clothes. They don't have any papers or medical insurance or even a driver's license. They sleep in the guest rooms (sometimes even 5to 10 cramped in one room) and illegally work in the motel/hotel UNREALISTIC BOOM IN REALTY PRICES AT ULVE-IS IT JUSTIFIED?? Which ever side the entry point is, the passengers staying at Ulwe will have to go round and that could be quite a distance. AMNESTY INTERNATIONALITS ACTIVITIES

Amnesty International organized a number of seminar on human rights questions at the non-governmental organization forum at the conference They attracted members of non-governmental organizations from all parts of the world, prompting power fu l deba t e s abou t t he relationship between the state ,personel behavior and the realities of women's lives. The seminar focused on international standards affecting women;s human rights;Amnesty International concerns about human rights violation against women and work with the victims;and how work with the news media can be most effectively used by non-governmental organizations to promote the human rights of women. In Africa Amnesty International continued its long term program of publicizing the African character on human and peoples Rights throughout the region, Amnesty nternational's guide to the African character which aims to make the charter more accessible to the public was translated into more African languages. The translations into zube and xhosa were comple ted and were wide ly organizations and the genera lpopulation in South Africa members distributed to non-government a in

Nigeria and Zimbabwe began work on translations of the guide into Hausa,Shona and Ndebele. Both the charter and Amnesty International's Guide have now been translated, some in co-operations,with ocal non-governmental organizations into more than 10 languages.

Amnesty International took part in the international book fair in Zimbabwe the largest book fair in sub-saharas Africa and the Continents main meeting place and trading venue for the African book industry-distributing and publicizing its publications and human rights education materials. A

poster was produced to create awareness of the obligations of governments of the south Africa Development Community under international human rights. This poster in the form of a series of questions and answers was widely distributed at the book fair and formed the focus of Amnesty international campaigning action.Groups around the world continued to develop their expertise in using the news media to raise awareness of human rights. In Mali for example, Amnesty International members were given a regular weekly slot on national radio. Programs have featured discussions on subjects such as the human rights situationin Rwanda and the recent Amnesty International campaign against human rights abuses in sudan.

In late 1995work began on the production of a poster aimed specially at young people in war-torn Rwanda . The poster focused on raising awareness about the right to life and included suggestions on how educations can encourage children and adolescents to learn to resolve conflicts peacefully.

of these masters of deception, changing their first names to Jimmy, Pete, Ron etc. and employing white girls at their front desk to deceive unsuspecting Americans into believing that the motel/hotel is American owned. They are known to be tightwads and don't spend their money in America, except to buy out motels/hotels to make more money. Even their food is imported from India by other Gujaratis. They are so stingy that most of the food they eat is cheap dry food like khakras imported from India. They live in their own motel/hotel rooms and have no other expenses, so it is easy to save money, gang up and go on a motel buying spree. Money laundering is another major racket - profits made from motels/hotels are sent to tax havens to invest in Indian stock markets as well as to fund right wing politicians in India who kill and harass Christians and Muslims. Unaccounted money from India also flows the other way round to buy out motels and get laundered. Most of these hoteliers are united under the Asian American Hotel Owners Association which states on its website that if each member of AAHOA had given $25 to the PAC in 2003, the association could have made $2,000 contributions to each of 100 different Senate and House candidates during the 2004 election year. What for, one might ask!!! The next Gujarati goal is to capture 100% of the hotels in the US and once they gain control of the entire hotel industry, they will surely make the American public dance to their monopoly room rates in just the same way that the Gujarati businessmen are making the rest of India dance to their monopoly over Indian business. The moral of the story is that corruption in India has helped train Indians to manipulate the world. What a twist!!!

Gujaratis is that they are also 24-7,hardly ever rousing suspicion. Each of them do the work of 3 Americans singlehandedly in return for only lodging and food and save the motel owner around USD.100,000 each in labor costs annually. Just 2 'slaves' would save a hotel owner over a million dollars in 5 years. Once these 'slaves' get their green cards; they are rewarded and financed by the illegal Gujarati banks in the US to buy more motels. After they buy a motel they too in turn illegally import more Gujaratis from India as 'slaves' and this cycle has been going on for the past 4 decades. Today there are hundreds of thousands of Gujaratis who have infiltrated into the US and together, the cartel has captured more than 50% or 21,000 motels and hotels across the United States. Many of them are known to indulge in insurance fraud and are masters in cooking account books to skimp on taxes or to fraudulently get finance. Another source of their savings comes from prostitution rackets which they run on the side in their motels. Added to that is the fact that they save on laundry expenses and it is hilarious to hear them joke about how Americans happily sleep on sweat and semen coated pillows, quilts and sheets. It was revealing to hear from one of them on techniques of how not to do laundry for months and yet make the bed linens look like they are washed. Semen and other stains are spot cleaned with soap and water (stain removers are expensive) to save money on washing the entire bed sheet. Many of them are known to wash bed sheets and blankets only after it has been used for months by several guests back to back. Most motels run by Gujaratis use only dark colored woven and patterned sheets to hide all the dirt and grime. As for carpets they are only vacuumed and never shampooed, harboring all kinds of germs Another aspect of most

CONTROVERSIES SEEM TO HAUNT RR PATIL AT REGULAR INTERVALS!

Home Minister RR Patil hurt his own popularity ratings after he is said to have violated the prison decorum. The opposition and a section of police were very quick to criticize him for visiting the jail and enquiring the well-being of Qasab, who was responsible for the killing of hundreds of people including several policemen. In the year 2007, Patil suspended Constable Milind Dandi for a month for showing friendly gesture towards a convicted criminal Munnabhai because it violated prison decorum. But, when the same Patil visits Qasab, who was responsible for 166 deaths to enquire about his well-being in Arthur Road Jail and that too two days before the attack's second anniversary has understandably hurt the sentiments of many policemen. The point upheld by the opposition and a section of police are understandable. But, one should not forget the fact that the home minister is the in-charge of the prisons in the state and he would be made answerable if something goes wrong with the accused. Qasab is a terrorist and is now a show piece to the entire world on which our human rights policy is exhibited. Any untoward incident with Qasab at this stage could tarnish the image of human rights in India to a great extent. To enquire about the well being of Qasab should be taken as a part of his job and

The Home Minister seems to be a very straight forward person and his actions are spontaneous but non- malicious. His linguistic problem adds to the spontaneous actions he has and earlier also he had come across such controversies. Patil's statement after the terrorist attack -“Aisa nahee hain, bade shahoron mein aise ek adh hadse hote rahte hain isliye total intelligence failure hua aisa nahe hain”-came under severe criticism and was one of the reasons for Patil's removal from the post of Dy Chief Minister by his party chief Sharad Pawar. With such frequent actions and statements, his image takes a severe beating though he puts up a brave face. Patil, known for his clean image is known as “Mr. Clean” in his fan circles. He is also affectionately referred as Aaba (meaning father) by people of Maharashtra. Very few ministers in our country have such an image and considering the clean image he has, the only way Patil could be let down is with such controversies. People should understand that the opposition is just waiting for such opportunities to pull him down.

authorities to understand the situation in jail. Therefore, to compare the actions of a home minister with the actions of a constable is inappropriate.

INDIA OR THE U.S: WHO BENEFITED OUT H-1B VISA?thAs we celebrate the 20 anniversary of

H-1B visas it is always good to turn back and see what the country has benefited out of it. The H-1B discussion is always heated and sometimes even worse 'when it turn racist, elitist, subjective or just plain ugly. Even though recent reports say that H-1B visas may soon become a dream for the Indian techies still the Indian companies weep over it. The spark of hope during the recent Obama's visit which died down in hours show where is H-1B heading t owards.

B u t d u r i n g t h e r e c e n t v i s a controversies Bernie Sanders, Senator from Vermont said, “ The very least we can do is to make sure that banks receiving a taxpayer bailout are not a l l owed to impor t “cheape r labor”from overseas while they are laying off American workers. “Over the 20 years has this lost its shine? Isn't H1B visa a skilled job visa? How can it be cheap labor visa?

Rahul Narayan an Indian techie who went to U.S. on an H-1B visa and later shifted to a U.S. firm says that majority of the Indians prefer to shift their jobs to U.S. firms since they offer you better pay and other facilities. Employees prefer their comfort rather than being nationalist. Such a way H-1B visas are really helpful to the Indians.

If you look back towards when the congress government created the H-1B visa program, 20 years ago it sent the American IT industry into unchartered territory from which from which it has yet to emerge. The U.S. had an H-1 visa for foreign nationals with “distinguished merit and ability” prior to 1990, but that year, in response to warnings of an emerging “skills gap” or “skills mismatch” among U.S. e n g i n e e r i n g a n d t e c h n o l o g y professionals, thus the government broadened the scope of the visa.

The benefits of U. S. on the H1B are a plain truth that is known to everyone. They are able to get substantially higher work quality at lower rates, more spending in U.S. hence the movement of currency etc. Since the Indian companies work on a contract basis the U.S. companies don't have to worry about the perks much. If you look at the Indian scenario IT professionals who have been displaced from their jobs because of offshore outsourcing believes that the H-1B visa has made government a complicit partner in the shift of jobs. They maintain that the H- 1B visa and offshoring have become inextricably linked, with offshore companies

Besides the Indian companies' benefits through the revenue generated from these onsite positions and the little improved spending power, has Indian economy achieved anything out of it is a matter of a question now. Can we say that some of these 'gains' are not really concessions by the U.S.? It is true that 20 years is late for analyzing lit but it is always good to mourn over something that is beneficial to all of us. Should we mourn for a 'cheap labor visa' anymore?

placing H-1B workers in client sites in the U.S. with the intention of ultimately transferring the work overseas.

JOURNALISTS SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THE TRAPS OF POLITICIANS AND LOBBYISTS

During the good old days,

Journalists were thorn in the flesh

as far as the politicians were

concerned. Corrupt politicians

were afraid of the journalists as

they were capable of revealing

them in front of the public to any

extent they wanted. None of the

politicians, lobbyists or bigwigs

had the courage to approach a

journalist for any favour and what

ever the journalists wrote were like

gospel words for the people.Now,

it appears the upright nature the

journalists possessed earlier has

started stooping and this change

will take away the trust people

have with journalists. A handful of

journalists are enough to spoil the

names of the entirecommunity and

itssuch characters and sideline

them to time we identify such

characters and sideline them to

protect the sanctity of journalism.

This appears is the only field

where corruption has not crept in

drastically.Journalists, due to the

nature of their job come close to

politicians, bureaucrats and other

sections of our society. They take

part in conferences, seminars and

often dine and wine with

politicians and are likely to get

carried away forgetting the

parameters of the profession and

fall into the traps of the politicians

and start stooping towards a

certain section of politicians who

are always on the lookout for some

one who could cover up their dirt

or at least do not reveal them in

front of public. In the case of the

three-Barkha Dutt, Vir Sanghvi

and Prabhu Chawla, who were on

the Radia tapes, had damned

themselves further through the

television appearances. The

editors grilled Barkha to the extent

asking her to issue an unmitigated

apology as they were not

convinced by Barkha's statements.

It was clear from the tapes that

Radia was a friend and not a

source, and that it was she who was

leading them into speaking to

various persons to ensure that

Raja was included in the Union

Cabinet.

In a country like India, the

journalists have a lot to work with.

Instead of being with the rich or

corporate lobbyists, they should

----------------------------------------------------------------------------be leaning towards the weak and

oppressed. The poor, weak and

oppressed in this country heavily

depend on media to highlight their

plights. The kind of politicians we

have, one could imagine the plight

of these people if there was no

media to support them.

WOMEN’S CRUTELY TO WOMEN

I happened to read a heart rending story from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, which is acclaimed as the most progressive State in India. It was about the utter helplessness of a woman convict confined to the four walls of a cell in the Poojapura Central Jail, which is under the nose of the authorities including the Home Minster. The unnamed lady's sad plight came to public notice following the publication in Malayala Manorama daily, of a petition she submitted to the National Human Rights Commission. It reads:Sir,I am a convict in a case and I am in jail for the last two months. When I was lodged there, I was in an advanced stage of pregnancy and the court had passed orders to the jail officials to provide me with the necessary medical facilities. In the evening of April 22, at lock-up time, I started getting labour pains. From six O'clock in the evening till

4-30 the next morning, I was writhing in pain and crying for help. But the wardens turned a deaf ear and did not bother to take me to a hospital. Two women, Ruby and Geeta, both newly appointed, were on duty in the night shift. Instead of taking me to a hospital, they only cracked crude jokes. “Women give birth to children. That is painful. There is no vehicle here for you to go to a hospital. Lie down without bawling. For your sake, we cannot suffer mosquito bites at night In a hospital. You can deliver in the morning. Moreover, you didn't make it in the rightful way” Thus went their barbs. I continued wailing miserably. I was in terrible distress and I begged them to save my life, but they were stone deaf. I was in so much agony that I could neither lie down nor sit up.

rdAt 4-30 A.M on 23 , I started bleeding and they pulled me out of the room. The Central Jail is not your family property for your child-birth, said the wardens. Instantly, I delivered my child on the stone floor. Some of the inmates came out and cut the umbilical cord. It was sheer luck that I and my child were alive. Although the wardens were women, I had to deliver in full view of others. And then I had to walk in that condition some distance to reach the van that took me to the S.A.T hospital.

My husband lodged a complaint with the superintendent of the jail. He (Mohan sir) offered me a chair and enquired in detail about the incident. But he did not write down my complaint. In the hospital, they did not give me any food. Nor did they inform my husband about the delivery. He came to know of it when he went to the jail to see me as usual. It was only after he came to the hospital that I got food and water.Seeing my pitiable condition with a new born baby in my arms, the court granted me bail. I am writing this letter after coming out of the jail. No woman should be so cruelly treated. My purpose in writing this is to bring to your attention that at least during labour, women should be given medical care,Yours……”.How cruel can women be to other women? The Poojapura incident should serve as an eye-opener to the authorities and the Home Minister of the State. Convicts too deserve humane treatment. The jail officials were not just guilty of callousness, but of sadism. There has been no further news in the matter. I hope the Human Rights Commission takes a serious note of it.I wonder whether such incidents would have prompted Shakespeare to change his opinion on women and say
