My Brothers & Sisters in Christ, The reading from the Gospel urges us to ‘prepare the way of the Lord’, a ‘way’ which comes
through repentance and the forgiveness of God through Christ. We cannot share in the glorious resurrection if we have not prepared for him, by living righteous lives, loving one another. In the opening sentence for Advent, Jesus says, “I am coming soon”. And there is a response; “Amen, come Lord Jesus”. This statement of response agrees that Jesus is coming and by acceptance urges Jesus to come, for they are ready. Are we ready if he comes now? Let us prepare ourselves and be ready to meet him. Today we celebrate with our members who have at-tained their eightieth year and over at the 10:00 a.m. service, a special welcome to them and their families. We welcome too the Custos, the Mayor and the Mem-ber of Parliament. It is with great respect that we honor our members and congratulate them on attaining this celebrated age. We pray that God will continue to be a blessing to you all. Thank you all for your work and par-ticipation in this church, and may the Kingdom of God be your goal. Every blessing be yours.
Fr. Barry
The Message of Advent. How does Advent suggest that we prepare?
1. Repentance - forsake the sins of the world for a
godly way of life.
2. Prayer - pray for the coming of Christ, for he
shall save.
3. Patience - his coming may be delayed. Watch
and wait, for his coming may be sudden.
