Welcome to the Massachusetts Horsemen’s Council’s“The Classic” Horse Show and Pleasure Finals!

We welcome you back to Briggs Stable in Hanover, MA where we offer an action packed day of classes.

Offered again this year will be the MHC Pleasure Horse Lifetime Achievement Award. This award will go to a pleasure horse nominated for it’s achievements in and out of the show ring. Nominations must be made by August 27, 2018. Send nominations to fdknow@comcast.net

New this year, NEHC is offering the NEHC Hunt Seat Pleasure Equitation Medal for the Adults with plenty of time to qualify for this years NEHC Medal Finals.

The Jr. Horsemanship Award will also be given out the day of the show sponsored by the “Massachusetts Horse” magazine. This award will be given to an exhibitor exemplifying all that is good in our young riders today.

We again will have two rings to ensure all exhibitors a variety of classes.

Every entry at a recognized show shall constitute an agreement and affirmation that the person making it, along with the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver, rider, and the horse: (1) shall be subject to the Constitution and rules of the Association and the local rules of the show; (2) that every horse, rider, and/or driver is eligible as entered; (3) that the owner and any of his representatives are bound by the Constitution and Rules of the NEHC/MHC/Briggs Stables and the show will accept as final the decision of the hearing committee on any question arising under said rules and agree to hold the show, the NEHC, the MHC, and Briggs Stables, their officials, directors and employees harmless for any action taken; (4) that the owner, rider/driver and any of their agents or representatives agree to hold the NEHC, MHC, Briggs Stables, the show, and their officials, directors, employees and agents harmless for any injury or loss suffered during or in connection with the show, whether or not such injury or loss resulted, directly or indirectly, from the negligent acts or omissions of said officials, directors, employees or agents of the NEHC, MHC, Briggs Stables or the show. Management reserves the right to decline or refuse any entry without being liable for compensation, and eliminate from further competition any exhibitor or horse should the best interest of the show be served. Every exhibitor or his agent and trainer must sign an entry blank. In the event of his/her failure to do so, his first entrance into the ring as an exhibitor shall be construed as his acceptance of the rules of the show involved and of the NEHC and MHC and shall ipso facto render him/her subject to said rules.

85. Walk-Trot Pleasure Classic 10 & Under Open to all seats: Hunter, Saddle Seat, and WesternOpen to riders 10 years of age and under riding horses/ponies. To be shown at a walk and trot/jog only. No child entered may have competed in any other class requiring entries to canter or lope.

86. MHC/SSHC Walk-Trot Pleasure Classic 11 years & OlderOpen to all seats: Hunter, Saddle Seat, and WesternOpen to riders 11 years of age and older riding horses/ponies. To be shown at a walk and trot/jog only. No person entered-may have- competed in any other class requiring entries to canter or lope.

88. MHC Saddle Seat Pleasure ClassicHorses shall be shown in a full bridle and flat English-type saddle. Martingales or tie-downs are prohibited. Horses to be ridden at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Judge may ask for an extension at the trot. To be judged on manners, performance, and substance. Judge will walk the line and ask all horses to back.

89. MHC Western Pleasure Classic Horses/ponies to be shown in proper Western tack with no limitations as to status of rider. To be judged on performance, quality, manners, and suitabili-ty. To be shown at a walk, trot/jog or alternative gait, and canter or lope. Judge may ask for an extension of any gait and may repeat a gait at their discretion. Judge will walk the line and ask all horses to back.

90. MHC Hunter Pleasure Classic Open to horses of a hunter type ordinarily used for pleasure purposes with no limitations as to status of rider. To be shown a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required. To be judged on manners, performance, quality, presence, substance, and sound-ness. Judge will walk the line and ask all horses to back.
