May Board Meeting Summary
Our Board of Trustees met on May 15 at 7:00pm with all members present. As always, we opened with prayer,
had a brief check-in period and read aloud our Affirmation and Board Covenant.
We approved and blessed tithes as follows: CASA $250 (our Partner in Service), Middleway House $150
(nominated but not selected), Unity World Ministry $300, Unity World Headquarters $150, and Great Lakes Unity
Regional Conference $150. Scott O’Bryan presented the Treasurer’s report and it was discussed and approved.
As part of our ongoing intention to grow as leaders, we focused for 20 minutes on reading and discussing
“leadership wisdom” from our Board Training Manual. We have set the intention to make this part of each board
meeting.
Focusing on our mission to be a center for spiritual growth for our community and the world, we reviewed ideas
from our recent Board Training for creating an intentional “Path to Spiritual Growth” for our membership. The
group will continue brainstorming via email in the weeks to come as we create and implement this program.
We discussed a proposal to offer Tai Chi classes here at Unity and Rev. Lauri was tasked with discussing revisions
the board proposes.
We agreed that for safety reasons, we need to purchase a storage shed for our lawn mower and other yard tools.
Dan Piekarsky and Roy Capio will shop and make recommendations. Final approval will be made via email.
We approved setting up a security door (intercom and buzzer) on the main door on the lower level for the United
With Love Preschool. This approval is contingent upon the preschool raising the funds from parents and other
donors.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18th at 7:00pm in the Cady Room. We closed with prayer at
9:00pm.
