Discovering Hope in These Harrowing Days (1st Half)Using Paul’s letter to the church in Thessalonica, we shall learn how to find and maintain hope in troublesome times. We may be surprised to learn what God has done for us, to assure us that God can and will supply us with all the hope needed to carry us through every situation that arises. Will follow up the last half of classes with Revival, God’s Challenge to His Church Today Led by Dr. Bob Ginn Sessions: Both Classes will last 13 weeksBring your Bible
Introduction to ApologeticsA 7 week class on Common Questions Non-Believers ask and ways to respond. The emphasis will be on how to give basic answers to questions, and information on how to go much deeper if the non-Believers have interest. There will be time for discussion as well as some simple practice on how to use the information you have learned.Led by Gloria GinnSessions: 7 weeks
Armor of God by Priscilla ShirerAll day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But His battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you’re tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you.Led by Kim McCullenSessions: 13 weeksCost: $10 for book
DivorceCareDivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Don’t go through separation or divorce alone.Led by Tina EstleSessions: ongoingCost: $15 for book
Classes begin Wednesday, January 9
GriefShareIf you are grieving the loss of a loved one, this study will help you move from mourning to joy as you learn grief is different for each person. The Disciple-Making ParentYour children will either live forever with Jesus or apart from Him. Too many growing up in Christian homes will not follow Christ as adults. Do you have a strategy for parenting in today’s hostile culture? The Disciple-Making Parent will give you confidence in your journey. We will also spend some time creating sacred moments for you to use at home. This class is also for Church family who help disciple others. Led by Susie ReederSessions: 10 weeksSeveral books will be used in teaching this class. You can purchase them on your own if interested.
Come join us for a variety of special guests, music, video presentations, worship and wonderful fellowship as we praise
God for all He has done these past 10 years.

Pastor’s Perspective I have recently taken up the game hide-and-seek again. Our grandchildren
have a ball playing with the adults in their lives. We adults might get a little too much pleasure from scaring them when they find us. The seekers count to a certain number and then shout “ready or not, here we come!” This traditional warning is apropos as we begin a new year. Ready or not, 2019 is here. None of us can know what the future holds. Given the flurry of ministry related activity at the close of 2018, we are likely to experience our share of changes and challenges – expected and not – in this New Year. While we don’t know what 2019 will bring, we can be sure of some pretty significant things as we replace last year’s calendar with this year’s.
We know that God is still on His throne, working out His plan and purpose in this world. We know that God’s promises to us – both in this life and in the next – still hold true. All of them. We know that nothing will happen to us this year apart from His permissive will or beyond His grace to endure. We can be relatively sure that some of us or our loved ones will go home to be with the Lord in 2019. We know that we are all one day closer to Jesus’ return and the end of this world as we know it than we were yesterday. And we know that the New Year will bring all of us new opportunities to live out His calling in our lives until He does return. Oppor-tunities to grow in our relationship with Him, to share Christ with the folks He has placed in our lives, and to serve others in His name.
Early 2019 will bring us the 2020 Vision Committee’s report that they have been developing for over a year now. Their charge has been to determine what our church needs to do to more effectively accomplish our mission to make disciples in the future. My message this coming Sunday will address that same theme. As I think about 2019, my thoughts are less about me and any personal goals and more about being faithful to my calling as pastor of this church. I want Snyder Memorial Baptist Church to be all it can be for Christ. I announced last Sunday that I will be preaching through the Bible in 2019. I will lay out three specific challenges for all of us as we begin this New Year. Together, we can have a great year advancing God’s kingdom here.
See you Sunday! ~ John
