The angelic powers appeared at Your tomb, the soldiers guarding it be-

came as dead men, and Mary stood at Your grave seeking, seeking Your

most pure body. But You made hell captive; You were untouched by its

night. You came to the virgin and granted life. O Lord who rose from

    the dead, glory to You.

    For the Apostle 4th Mode

Having learned kindness, and being always steady and sober, vested

with a good conscience as befits a priest, you drew out from the Chosen

Vessel the secrets of God. And having kept the faith, you have finished

the fair race, O Hieromartyr Timothy. Intercede with Christ our God, en-

treating Him to save our souls.

    Kontakion - 1st Tone - p. 251 - 253

For our salvation You took flesh and You sanctified the Virgins

    womb; You blessed the aged Simeon as You lay resting in his arms;

and having come to save us all, O Christ our God, to these troubled

times, bring Your lasting peace. Give strong and undaunted faith to

all Your people, O only lover of mankind.

The Reading is from St. Paul's First Letter to Timothy 4:9 -15 TIMOTHY, my son, the saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things. Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Till I come, attend to the public reading of scripture, to preaching, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophetic utterance when the council of elders

laid their hands upon you. Practice these duties, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress.

The Reading is from The Gospel of Luke 19:1-10 At that time, Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man named Zacchaios; he was a chief collector, and rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaios, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today." So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it they all murmured, "He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner." And Zacchaios stood and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have de-frauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold." And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost." VPK, Kindergarten & 1st grades - Brenda Roman - Jan 8 Last week we learned about Epiphany. All the kids learned the word and lis-tened to the story of the baptism of Jesus. (We read from the Action Bible and the kids loved it!) We then colored a picture of Jesus being baptized. We talked about all the different things and people in the picture as we remembered the story. For instance St. John the Baptist was wearing clothes made from camel fur! We finished class by making a dove from a paper plate. Jan 15 - Last Sunday we read the story of the wedding in Cana and learned about Jesus' first miracle of changing water to wine! We colored a picture of the story and talked about what we had learned and what was in the picture. We finished by performing our first miracle of turning water to "wine" by adding a packet of kool aid to a water bottle! Attendance: 8

2nd - 4th Grades - Jonna Myatt - Jan. 8 It was so good to see the kids again! This time we talked about Theophany and God's gift of water. The class put together a long list of Bible stories that men-tion water and we also learned about how we use water in the Orthodox church. Jan. 15 - We did a fun object lesson on the Ten Commandments. First we filled a balloon and watched it randomly dart around the room. Often people act like the balloon! It is easy for us to go this way and that and not know where we are going:) Next we taped the balloon to a straw. The straw had a long string going through it and one end of the string was attached to an icon of Christ on the wall. When we release the balloon, this time the balloon had a direction. It was propelled along the string to its goal! We can be like the balloon on the string if we follow God's rules:) Attendance: 6

5th - 6th Grades - Daphne Courey & Anastasia Theodorou We read about one of Jesus first teachings , the Sermon on the Mount. We learned what it means to be blessed and the values that Christ says are im-portant in life. When we trust in Jesus and obey His teachings we have the tools to meet all of our spiritual needs as citizens of the Kingdom of God. Attendance: 7

ZOE Hi to all our ZOE friends We had an amazing turnout for our January meeting in our church hall. A great way to start off 2017. The vegetable lasagna and Greek salad from Kel-sey's Restaurant in Rockledge was so delicious, Sonia's cakes were yummy, cookies delightfully fattening, and the movie 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin' that was filmed in Kefalonia, was such a big hit with out ladies and gents. We had over 40 in attendance. Our February meeting has been changed from the 2nd Thursday in February to February 23rd so we can help with things that need to be done for the fes-tival which will be starting the very next day. There will be lots to do, we need helping hands for a few hours. The March 9th meeting will be an outing to 'Exploration Tower' in Port Ca-

naveral at the price of $4.00 + tax for seniors. You will be on your own for transportation. The muse-um-like tour is hands-on and the view from the Tower by floors, is truly scenic. There may be a price break for over 20 attending but $4.00 stated from their website, seems reasonable.

Afterwards lunch will be at Zachary's Restaurant in Cape Canaveral, not far from the Tower. More info on all as the time gets closer, we will need a headcount for the Tower and restaurant well ahead of time. April will be a 'NO meeting' month since preparation for Easter/Pascha will be in order and families will be busy. More info down the road, but May and June will end on high notes for anoth-er exciting year for our ZOE get-togethers ...
