Let us return to the Eucharist with joy!

Excerpts from the “Letter on the celebration of the Liturgy during and

after the COVID pandemic to the Presidents of the Episcopal

Conference of the Catholic Church”, by Robert Card. Sarah, Prefect

We cannot be without the Christian community, the family of

the Lord: we need to meet our brothers and sisters who share

the sonship of God, the fraternity of Christ, the vocation and the

search for holiness and the salvation of their souls in the rich

diversity of ages, personal histories, charisms and vocations;

We cannot be without the house of the Lord, which is our home,

without the holy places where we were born to faith, where we

discovered the provident presence of the Lord and discovered

the merciful embrace that lifts up those who have fallen, where

we consecrated our vocation to marriage or religious life, where

we prayed and gave thanks, rejoiced and wept, where we

entrusted to the Father our loved ones who had completed their

earthly pilgrimage;

We cannot be without the Lord’s Day, without Sunday which

gives light and meaning to the succession of days of work and

to family and social responsibilities.

As much as the means of communication perform a valued service to the sick

and those who are unable to go to church, and have performed a great service

in the broadcast of Holy Mass at a time when there was no possibility of

community celebrations, no broadcast is comparable to personal participation

or can replace it. On the contrary, these broadcasts alone risk distancing us

from a personal and intimate encounter with the incarnate God who gave

himself to us not in a virtual way, but really, saying: “He who eats my flesh

and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him” (Jn 6:56). This physical

contact with the Lord is vital, indispensable, irreplaceable. Once the concrete

measures that can be taken to reduce the spread of the virus to a minimum

have been identified and adopted, it is necessary that all resume their place in

the assembly of brothers and sisters, rediscover the irreplaceable preciousness

and beauty of the celebration of the liturgy, and invite and encourage again

those brothers and sisters have been discouraged, frightened, absent or

uninvolved for too long.

"Reflect upon the providence

and wisdom of God in all

created things and praise Him

in them all."

St. Teresa of Avila

We celebrate the Feast Day of

St. Teresa on Thursday,

October 15th.

Boxes of Joy from Cross Catholic Outreach

Box of Joy is an annual Christmas gift ministry organized

by local Catholic schools, parishes and groups across the

United States and facilitated by Cross Catholic Outreach.

By packing Boxes of Joy with toys and other gifts,

participants bless children suffering from extreme poverty

by sharing the joy of Christmas and planting seeds of

hope. (https://crosscatholic.org/box-of-joy/)

SHS will be participating in this service project during the

month of October to bring smiles to other children, ages 2-

14. We will provide gift boxes and a list of possible items

to place in the box. Your family can fill the box and label

it for a boy or girl. A $9.00 check made out to Cross

Catholic Outreach should be attached to the cover of the

box to cover the cost of shipping. Do NOT seal the

shoeboxes with tape, but feel free to secure the box with a

rubber band or a ribbon. All boxes will need to be turned

in by Tuesday, November 3rd, to allow us time to prepare

for shipping. Consider bringing a smile to others and to

yourself! Contact the school office if you would like to

participate in this project.

Studies

My name is

Anthony Iannece,

but just call me Mr.

I. I am very proud to

say that I have been

a Crusader for over

8 years. I am

originally from New

York and was a

teacher out there for

several years before

moving to Reedsburg. My wife, Alicia, and I have three

beautiful children: Liam, Noah, and Josie. Liam and Noah

attend SHS as a second grader and a kindergartner. We

have a very lovable labrador named Obi that loves to visit

the school sometimes. I am a big fan of anything outdoors.

My favorite aspect about Sacred Heart are its students.

They make everything worth it. I am blessed to teach them

and support them, even beyond Sacred Heart School.

UPCOMING ELECTION INFORMATION

The right of US citizens, age 18 or over, to vote is both a

privilege and a responsibility. It is important that we

exercise this responsibility and vote in the upcoming

November 3, 2020 election. There are three options for

voting.

Absentee Ballot by Mail: The procedure for this was

detailed in a bulletin item two weeks ago. That

information is available at www.myvote.wi.gov. Your

clerk must receive your ballot by 8:00 P.M. on Nov. 3,

2020. Carefully follow the directions that come with the

ballot. You must sign the outside of your return envelope.

You also must have a witness sign the outside of your

envelope.

In Person Absentee Ballot: If you live in the City of

Reedsburg this is usually an easy and efficient way to cast

your vote. Just go to the City Clerk’s office any weekday

from October 20 – October 30 with your photo ID and

complete an absentee ballot there. The clerk will sign as

your witness. The Reedsburg City Clerk is on the upper

level of the City Hall.

For anyone outside the City limits, go to

www.myvote.wi.gov to find your clerk. You may contact

them for information on where to go and the dates they

offer in-person absentee voting.

Vote at the Polls Nov 3rd : Polls will be open 7:00 a.m.-

8:00 p.m. In Reedsburg voting is on the lower level of

City Hall. For other municipalities, check

www.myvote.wi.gov.

No matter which way you choose to vote, you will need to

provide picture ID, e.g., unexpired Driver’s License or

State ID. If you don’t currently have acceptable ID, now

is the time to get it. A complete list is located at

https://bringit.wi.gov.

For questions call the Wisconsin Elections Commission at

866-868-3947.

If you are registering to vote or have moved, you will need

official documentation of your current residence, e.g.,

driver’s license, utility bill. Other acceptable

documentation may be found at www.myvote.wi.gov.

If you are not registered to vote, you have time to register

prior to the election (see www.myvote.wi.gov) or you may

register on the day of the election as long as you bring

proper documentation. If you need assistance or have

questions you may visit www.myvote.wi.gov or call 1-866-

868-3947.

“Lead Me, Lord”

This week’s recessional hymn

is an uplifting song based on

Matthew 5:3-12; 7:7, 13; and

John 14:6. The chorus asks

the Lord to ‘be our way, truth,

and life’. The premise of this

hymn is asking the Lord to

lead us on correct paths as we

journey towards His

kingdom. It's a great frame of

mind to have as we exit after Mass.

We appreciate everyone's understanding and cooperation

as we continue to navigate through the pandemic. We also

appreciate those who have offered their time and abilities

to help provide music for the mass by singing or

playing. If you are interested in cantoring or playing the

piano/organ for Mass please contact Andrea at the parish

office or email [email protected]
