Rev. James R. Carter, Senior Pastor
Scripture for Silent Meditation and prayer Revelation 4:1-4, 8 (ESV)After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads....And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

Then he loaded the animals two by two, and the rains came tumbling down! And way, way back in the long ago, the whole world simply drowned. But God sent a rainbow, the colors of His love divine; yes, God sent a rainbow a Rainbow Valentine! Away, way back in the long ago, forty days and nights it rained, and way, way back in the long ago the passengers complained. Then the Lord looked down from heaven on high and the sun came out to play. And way, way back in the long ago, the raindrops ran away. Away, way back in the long ago, Noah looked around for land, and way, way back in the long ago, a mountaintop looked grand. Then the animals danced out two by two and the dry land felt so good, that way, way back in the long ago, they parked that ark of wood! And God sent a rainbow the colors of His love divine; yes, God sent a rainbow, a green and blue, yellow too, a rainbow gift for me and you: a Rainbow Valentine!

† reading of the ScriptureS Acts 2:40-43 (ESV)And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.
