It was with great joy that we received word, this past weekend, of Bishop’s Zubik’s announcement of the name of our soon-to-be parish, Our Lady of Hope! As you may recall, this was the name chosen as the first selection by the parishioners of
our parish grouping a few months ago, after an extensive consultation process.
A copy of the Bishop’s letter is contained on page 4 of this bulletin and on our parish website. In addition, the website includes the canonical decree naming our new parish. The decree is posted in the vestibules of our four churches as well.
One of the tasks asked of us before the parish was named, was to have a logo ready for envelopes and other paperwork purposes. Parishioner Lynette Kelley sponsored the services of a graphic artist from our area to produce possible logos for all five names, including one that would work with all of them. The new logo is also contained in this bulletin, along with examples of how it might look on letterhead.
While it is my intention that we all engage in a creative process in terms of appropriate statuary and/paintings of Our Lady of Hope sometime early in the New Year, this is a great logo to begin with and use in our parish communications. You will notice the four circular points on the cross represent our four parishes joined as one. Thank you, Lynette, for providing this service for us!
Bishop Zubik has given special permission for earlier Christmas Eve
Mass schedule takes that permission into account as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Our Lord. In addition, please be aware of the Mass schedule for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception this week. Although the dispensation from Sunday Mass and Holy Days remains in effect, we will conduct the full Holy Day Mass schedule as listed, with the 4:00 PM Vigil Mass at St. Valentine Church being livestreamed.

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself
from You. Amen

LIVE JESUS
Inspiration for the week
Prepare the way of the Lord! The message of John the Baptist becomes the calling of every baptized disciple of Jesus Christ. Each one of us is asked to prepare the way of the Lord. Given the humble means of our lives, how can we do this?
It certainly does not require we stand on street corners announcing God’s future coming! We can more readily take up the task of our lifework by clearing our lives of unnecessary, distracting clutter. By creating solid and deep spiritual lives., we can heighten our awareness of God’s presence and help people point to and discover God’s presence around them.
By conducting ourselves in holiness and devotion, we can speak volumes to those we meet. Not by preaching actual words, but by living lives that communicate the comfort God wants His people to know.
As the world sometimes frantically unfolds around us, we can be people of patience who show others that it’s okay to wait for
God’s gift to come. Conducting our lives in this manner, we will know the peace that comes from doing what we have been asked to do.
