BELONGING
We welcome new disciples to our
parish communities. If you live
within our parish boundaries, which
is our mission field, then you are
already a member. It is still
important that you register at the
Parish Oce or during registration
weekends so we can communicate
with you throughout the year. We
are here to help you meet Jesus
Christ, grow in holiness, and fully
participate in a life of prayer.
Please call or stop at either parish
oce, or speak with Fr. Schuster.
We are disciples together!

ASSUMPTION OF THE
BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary,
having completed the course of her earthly life, was
assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.
-Pius XII,Munificentissimus Deus, 44.
This year the Assumption falls on a Saturday and
would not have been a Holy Day of Obligation. We
will still offer a Mass at each parish. Mary, our
mother, reveals to us our ultimate destiny in this
special feast. We all hope and pray that by the
saving power of Jesus, we too will be found worthy
to be joined to our bodies in the resurrection. This
feast reminds us that our bodies are also sacred.

Our search for a new principal is underway. Please keep praying and asking the
Holy Spirit to guide this process. On Monday, July 27, we made the announcement
about Mr. Marc Vandenhouten’s departure. Then we posted the job on two useful
platforms. Within 24 hours we had 6 inquiries. Today we have 10 applicants. On
Thursday of that same week, we held a meeting with the Parish Trustees and the
members of both School Boards. The Superintendent of Schools for the diocese,
Mr. Todd Blahnik, joined us for this meeting. We discussed what we are looking
for in our next principal. An interview committee was formed. Each member of
the group was given some homework to do, such as pre-screening candidates
and reading résumés. Our first two candidates were selected for an interview.
The interview committee began their work this past week. The larger group had
another meeting on Wednesday to see what other updates there were. We now
have more initial interviews scheduled, and are pursuing the second round of
interviews. The first round was done virtually, the second round will be done in
person at our schools.
Ultimately, the interviewers from the School Boards will make two final
recommendation to Fr. Schuster. Fr. Schuster will have a final conversation with
the two finalists. He will consult with the Parish Trustees and conduct a formal
background check. Then, through much prayer, Fr. Schuster will choose our new
principal and make an offer.
Once we have a principal who accepts our offer, we will invite him/her to visit us
for a weekend of Masses. We will introduce that person to our teachers,
parishioners, and school families. Keep up the prayers!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
SEMINARIAN COLLECTION 2020
A spiritual family needs spiritual fathers. That is why the 15th
Annual Seminarian Collection: Hope for the Future, Help them
Today is so important. By now you most likely received a letter
from Bishop Ricken requesting your help in supporting our
local seminarians. Please return your generous contribution to
this collection, using the pledge card and return envelope you
received in the mail. As a Diocese, we anticipate costs of
$1,000,000 this year for tuition, room and board, health
insurance, support of the O.ce of Vocations and the work of
Fr. Mark Mleziva and Fr. Adam Bradley. To make your gift today,
visit www.catholicfoundationgb.org/give
Why are young men attracted to the priesthood today?
The mystery of the Mass and its rich traditional elements
draw them in to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
They want to be part of the healing of this broken world.
They are experiencing intimacy in prayer and they have
heard the voice of the Good Shepherd.
They knew good priests who were true spiritual fathers in
the lives, and were attracted to the joy of the priesthood.
They are looking for fraternity, community, and friendship
like that of the early disciples.
6TH GRADE GRADUATION INFORMATION
The evening begins at 5:30pm with a presentation and a prayer at
the grave of Tessa Gilley in the cemetery. The Mass begins at
6:00pm and the dinner will take place outside near the church
around 7:00pm.
If you are able to help in any way with this event, please feel free to
reach out to Julie Zirbel at 845.1115
