Church-wide Mission Project In November and December we have the opportunity to share in the Club 180 Mission Trip by collecting hy-giene and food items. Jimbo Watson and the Mission Team from Smithwood Baptist will be taking these sup-plies to Club 180 when they go on the Mission Trip the
last week in December. Some examples of food items that are needed are peanut butter, crackers, canned vegetables, soup, etc. Crockpots would also be appreciated. Thanks for your participation in this im-portant project as we strive to be on mission with Christ in the world!
Please join us these next weeks as we celebrate the Christmas season with opportunities to worship
through music, giving and fellowship.
Carols and Classics Sunday, December 11th at 6:00 pm
Our sanctuary choir, accompanists, soloists and children’s choir will be joined by Knoxville Symphony players to present beautiful and worshipful
carol arrangements, Christmas anthems, and choruses from MESSIAH.
Service of Lessons and Carols Sunday, December 18th at 6:00 pm
This beautiful worship event will include communion and will be in place of our normal Christmas Eve Service.
Christ is Born Sunday, December 25th at 10:45 am
Christmas morning celebration in worship. A very special, warm, family worship time with church family and the entire community.
This is one of the best times all year to invite neighbors and friends to come visit and worship with you.
To the saints at Smithwood:
Thank you all so much for your kind words of encouragement, apprecia-
tion, and affirmation as we left Smithwood to move to our new assign-
ment in Wilmington, NC. We deeply appreciate each expression, wheth-
er through a spoken word, a card, or a gift. The “Mayberry” sendoff
with the ensemble singing “good old 14A” and Sammy Sawyer as Bar-
ney Fife was wonderful! We will always cherish our time with you, and
look forward to hearing about the wonderful ways that God will work in
and among and through his people at Smithwood. Keep on loving God,
loving people, and making disciples! May God continually bless and
empower you to bear witness to Christ as you proclaim him through
both word and deed and to live as his people in the world.
Grace and peace,
Mark & Jo Ann Gaskins

This Week’s Guest Preacher, Dr. David Crutchley
Dr. Crutchley is originally from South Af-rica and is the Dean of the Religion Divi-sion and a Professor of Religion at Car-son Newman University. He has also taught at Southwestern Seminary and Southern Seminary, as well as being a guest speaker and lecturer in numerous educational international settings. Dr.
Crutchley previously served as both interim pastor and pastor at Smith-wood, where he is dearly loved. He and his wife, Carol, reside in Jeffer-son City, Tennessee, along with their granddaughter. They also have two sons, Russ and Matthew.
We welcome him warmly and enthusiastically to Smithwood once again.
LOTTIE MOON 2016 CHRISTMAS OFFERING Our Goal: $14,000
Week of Prayer — December 4-11
Starting in 1888, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® was established to empower the international missions efforts for Southern Baptists. The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (LMCO) provides critical funding for Southern Baptists’ international missions efforts. An annual goal is set by the WMU Executive Board in consultation with the International Mission Board’s executive staff, allowing Southern Baptists to send and equip missionaries around the world.
The offering is named for Lottie Moon, a missionary to China whose letters pleading for mission support still resonate today. She died Decem-ber 24, 1912, after living a life of total sacrifice to God and the people of China.
Your giving enables missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God.
