Hip, Hip Hooray! A word of welcome from the President
Hip, hip, hooray, it’s our Birthday – this will be our 10th Show! As one
of the youngest Shows in South Australia, we’re happy to invite you to
celebrate with us on Sunday 30th October. We are hoping to make this
a day to remember by hosting many new attractions as well as bringing
back old ones. New features include sheep races, a ute muster, scarecrow,
wool and floral art sections.
Other features include our Show Announcer, Barry Martin from radio station 5MU, and
the hall and marquee packed full of produce, art, photos, flowers, handicrafts, cooking, pot
plants, literary and colouring-in competitions.
This year our Lucky Gate Prize will be 2 nights stay at a B&B kindly donated by Harriett’s
Cottage Accommodation.
The Callington Show has evolved since the first Callington Miners’ Fair in 2002 and in
recognition of outstanding service in these formative years by Roger Farley, Christine Hillier
and Sonia Matheson we have much pleasure in awarding them Life Membership.
During the last year Gemma Paech and Monique du Cane represented the Callington
Show in the Southern Country Shows Rural Ambassadors Award. Both came second in their
respective group.
It is quite amazing how much work goes into planning, organizing and running a Show. To
the Committee and the many people involved, a very big thank you. Also the sponsors and
prize donors are to be commended for their generosity. We couldn’t exist without your help.
If you have never been an exhibitor, provided a display or manned a stall, we would love for
you to become involved with this year’s Show. If you have participated in the past, we look
forward to your involvement again this year. And most important of all, we look forward to
seeing you on the day as we enjoy the 10th Callington Show.
