PRESIDENTS REPORT

Hello everyone and welcome to our Annual General Meeting (AGM). My name is David Thies and

I have been President of Sunbury Little Athletics Incorporated for the season 2014/15. I have been

involved with Sunbury Little Athletics for the past 6 years and on the committee for the last 4. I

encourage any parent to come and join the committee as it is a fantastic experience and we have

a great group of people.

us for work in WA.

Our canteen team did an outstanding job this year so a massive thank you to Vikki Sheppard,

Allison Kellet, Tracy Sparks and Belinda Clarke. Their efforts made a massive contribution to our

club raising a massive total of just over $7000!!!

There is a special thank you I need to pass on and that is to one of our athletes who not only

competes each week but also officiates at events and now coaches our athletes 2 nights a week!

A big thank you to Alex Chillingworth, an awesome effort and very much appreciated.

Finally a big thank you to our parent helpers. Without everyone’s dedication this year would not

have run as well as it did.

We have a lot of sponsors this year and would like to thank them very much for their financial

contributions or Goods and Services. Some of our major sponsors are:

Rams Western Region, Snap Fitness, Sunbury Bowls Club,

Flag of India, Bumble Beanz, Sportsco, Sunbury Cycles,

Bakers Delight, Mcdonalds, Subway and O’Shannassy Meats

This year our membership increased by 30% and we almost hit our target of 200 athletes. The

year started with Cross Country in which we hosted 2 events, one of them being our Open Day.

We had around 200 athletes attend from around Victoria. From Sunbury we had around 35

athletes compete in the Cross Country Season.

The summer season started in October and we were straight into it with a presentation for Junior

Mabia for winning at the Australian Championships. We then hosted the Region Multi Event at

Sunbury which was a fantastic day and a great success. Sadly our own Multi Event was washed

out (twice). Thank you to everyone that helped on the day as it was a massive effort.

We then moved onto Region Relays with a massive 37 team entered. It was a huge effort to put

those teams together so a big thank you to Steve Rodwell as well as Lou Stepanoski for assisting.

Then there was the running of the day and thank you to our Team Managers Justine Haxby and

Jeanetta Rodwell for the day going off without a hitch. Of the 37 teams 8 made it to State Relays.

Our Christmas Family Fun Day was a great day and money raised from the raffle and the dress up

theme went towards our donation to the Royal Childrens Hospital.

We had 5 athletes compete at State Multi at Moe, Georgia Stepanoski (43rd), Byron Lynch(25th),

Jett Rowe(42nd), Sebastien Bell-Bartells(8th) and Brennan Wilkins(2nd). Well done on making the

long trip!

A few weeks later we had Region Track and Field where we had 37 athletes compete. It was the

first time for most of the U7 and U8 to come to a big event and they did extremely well. From the

older kids we had 15 make it to State Track & Field coming up in a couple of weeks.

Again thank you to our Team Managers Justine Haxby and Jeanetta Rodwell for running the two

days flawlessly.

This year we have had a couple raffles to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital. The

committee also decided to donate dollar for dollar on what we raised. I am proud to announce that

Sunbury Little Athletics will be donating $1,500 to the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.

Overall it has been a fantastic year for athletes with many PB’s being achieved and records

broken. We will now move into the cross country season starting in April/May. Keep an eye on

the website/team app for details as it gets closer.

As the 2014/15 season comes to a close I encourage all members to become actively involved in

the club and help to secure its future success. We have a great bunch of children who are trying

their best at each event each week and we need enthusiastic parents to get involved to become a

volunteer or join the committee to help with the club in going forward and achieving great results.

Finally a big thank you to my committee for all their help and hard work during the year. A special

thanks to Emma Lynch for all her hard work as Secretary and also to Robyn Thies for all the data

entry and being Treasurer.

SECRETARYS REPORT

My name is Emma Lynch and I have been the Sunbury Little Athletics Secretary for the Season

2014/2015

Firstly I would like to thank David Thies for a fantastic year as president, without Dave’s dedication

this season would not have run as smoothly as it has. I would also like to thank all the members of

the current committee this season, your passion and enthusiasm has made it a great year and

your support has been invaluable.

It has been great to see some long standing Centre records broken this season and of course all

the PB’s by the athletes on a weekly basis.

Congratulations to those athletes who have competed in the State multi, Region relays and

Region track and field events this season. To those who have qualified through to State Track

and Field Championships this March congratulations and the best of luck to you all.

I would like to thank all our sponsors this year Rams, Snap Fitness, Sunbury Bowling Club,

Sunbury Mc Donald’s, Bumble Bee café, Sportsco, Flag of India, Sunbury Cycles, Bakers Delight,

and Subway. This season we were also successful in receiving a grant of $2000 dollars from

Sunbury Helping Hands to go towards our new timing gates, and a $1500 dollar grant from Hume

City council, for running and education costs.

It is through our sponsors support and community grants that we are able to renew and upgrade

our equipment and club facilities. To all the other businesses that donated goods for our Christmas

and Dinner Dance raffles, I thank you for your contribution.

Finally thank you to the children, it has been a great experience to see you all achieve your best

each week, and see all your smiles whether it be a PB or I’ve called you for your favorite event,

you all make it a meaningful and worthwhile experience. I would encourage members to consider

joining the committee or putting their hand up to help around the club.

I will be standing for the role of Secretary again, and I look forward to seeing you all again next

season.

REGISTRARS REPORT

This year we had 195 financial members at Sunbury Little Athletics, which was considerably

higher than last years which was 159.

We have had a few children that have joined from bring a friend day and from siblings who have

turned 5 during the season.

Next season we are going to try and make the patches that are provided by LAV a little more user

friendly, by either laminating them or printing them out to ensure that the barcodes do not get wet.

Along with the registrations I have spent most of the season on the oval taking photos of all the

children competing in various events, they are displayed here behind me and to anyone that has

access to facebook you can upload photos yourself to our Sunbury Little Athletics page.

I also created a small movie which was used at the Dinner Dance, a modified version will be put

onto the webpage shortly.

Thank you to all committee who have assisted me throughout the season, special mention to Dave

& Robyn Thies who always help me with the registrations online and payments made and to those

that have provided me with additional photos to print out aswell.

I will be standing again for the Registrar’s role and look forward to another fun filled year.

Treasurers Report

Sunbury Little Athletics financial year was from 1st March 2014 to 28th February 2015. The

financials for 2014/15 year are in the process of been audited by an independent auditor at this

time.

I took over Treasurer at the end of August from Senarath. I would to thank Senarath for being

Treasurer but due to his study commitments had to pass it on.

During the financial period Sunbury Little Athletic had an income of $45,716.55, with expenditure

of $46,557.36, leaving a loss of $821.21. The current closing ledger balance is $21,063.90.

This year our canteen was our biggest revenue raiser with profit of $7,031.75. A big thank you to

Vikki Sheppard for taking on this role.

The club also received a grant from Sunbury Helping Hand of $2,000 which went towards the

timing gates. The Hume Council has also given us a $1,500 grant which will go into next financial

year.

The biggest expense for the year was the purchase of the new timing gates, laptop and speakers.

The club also purchased new shot puts, discuses, fridge for canteen, starting blocks, new sign.

During the year we had some fundraising events being cross country open day, Region Multi,

chocolate drive, Bunnings Sausage Sizzle. The club also had a couple raffles which the proceeds

went to the Royal Children’s Hospital. The club raised $1,500 for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

We would also like to thank our sponsors for the year. Our major sponsor being RAMS. Other

sponsors being Snap Fitness, Sunbury Bowling Club, Flag of India, Bumble Beanz (our coffee lady

Michelle who does a wonderful job making our coffee each week). A special thanks to Lou for

organising our sponsors for the year.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions regarding the financial performance and management

of Sunbury Little Athletics Centre, either formally as part of the AGM or to me separately.

TEAM MANAGERS REPORT 2014/2015

The role of the Centre Team Manager is to encourage athlete participation in regional and state

events. To act as the main contact with Northern Metro Region and Little Athletics Victoria

Officials with team entries and to represent Sunbury by organising the athletes at these events

and the parents that are required to officiate.

The Team Manager is required to finalise athlete entries prior to the events as well as organise a

parent roster as requested by Northern Metro Region. When it comes to Region and State events

the Team Manager is required to be present at 7am for a meeting and remain there until days end

for the entire weekend.

This year we have had a number of committee members take on the role as Team Manager.

Without these people the days would not have ran as smoothly as they did, so we would like to

thank the following people; Emma Lynch, Trish Bell-Bartells, Justine Haxby, Jeanetta and Steve

Rodwell.

During the season our Sunbury athletes competed at the following events:

Northern Metro Mutli Championships.

Held at home at Sunbury, 56 Athletes competed.

Victorian State Mutli Championships.

Held at Moe, 5 Athletes competed.

Northern Metro Relay Championships.

Held at Coburg, 37 Teams, 67 Athletes competed.

Victorian State Relay Championships.

Held at Lakeside Athletics Stadium, with 8 Teams qualifying.

Northern Metro Region Track and Field Championships.

Held at Keilor, 37 Athletes competed.

Victorian State Track and Field Championships.

To be held at Lakeside Athletics Stadium with 14 Athletes qualifying.

During the year we have had some outstanding individual and team performances. We wish those

athletes that will represent Sunbury at the State Track and Field Championships all the best.

Thank you to all the parents that offered their help and support and fulfilled our Centre Duties at

the numerous events. These days would not run without you and your children would not get to

experience competing against other athletes from other centres.

Congratulations everyone on a successful season and we look forward to seeing you again next

year.
