Membership News Christmas Decorations Believe it or not the holiday season is just around the corner. The Cham-ber has been checking bulbs on Christmas decorations to get ready celebrate the season. The tree will be getting all new lights and fresh paint will brighten up the Christmas Card Lane signs. Snowflakes will adorn the streets to bring the cheer of the season to all who pass through Berne. The Chamber has funded these festive items through Swiss Pride and donations specifically for Christmas. Unfortunately the funds for our Christmas decora-tions is falling short. Installation and removal of decorations is one of our largest expenses of the year. If additional funds are not raised the Cham-ber may need to make the difficult decision of cut-

ting back on decorations or not install-ing some at all. If you wish to join Swiss Pride Individual Membership or make a donation to Christmas Decora-tions please contact the Chamber, Sheree Barkley at 589-8080 or [email protected].

Delbert Sprunger Family honors the Chamber with flag donation

Eirck (Rick) Sprunger donates a Bern Canton flag and an au-thentic Swiss flag to the Berne Chamber of Commerce. The

flags belonged to Delbert and Irene (Zuercher) Sprunger. Delbert was Executive Director of Berne Chamber of Commerce from 1989-1992. Delbert was successful at moving the Cham-ber from his basement to an office space where the public was welcome to stop in and receive information about Berne. We appreciate the Sprunger family in honoring the Chamber with

these treasured flags.

SWISS VILLAGE OPENS WESTENFELD REHABILITATION WING

Swiss Village Retirement Community opens Westenfeld, a short term rehabilitation wing, offering private furnished suites. Westenfeld is the latest level of increased care devel-oped by Swiss Village to address the changing market needs. The unit has the capacity to care for 14 rehabilitation clients. Services provided will include physical, occupation, and speech therapies related to modalities required to address post-hospital stays. Swiss Village’s rehabilitation team is committed to helping patients achieve their recovery goals. The therapists at Swiss Village are experts in adult rehabilitation and work one-on-one with individuals focusing on treatment plans devel-oped by their physicians. “Swiss Village has offered skilled care to residents for many years,” said Daryl Martin, Swiss Village Executive Director. “The demand recently for short-term rehabilitation services has been increasing.
