welcome to uAF!What an exciting time this is as you begin your college career. Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning invites you to discover what learning opportunities await you each summer and winter break. Choose from over 200+ classes and come closer to finishing your degree whether it is a required course or one that gets you into Alaska’s great outdoor classroom.

A four-year degree should take four years. Sometimes this is very difficult to do and going to school in the summer and during winter break is a great way to make this happen.

Summer Sessions covers 14 weeks beginning the middle of May and extending to the middle of August. We begin with MAYmester, a two-week compressed session, where students can earn up to three credits. This is followed by two six-week sessions. Classes usually meet four days a week, which means every week has a three-day weekend to enjoy the Alaskan outdoors. It is possible to complete up to 17 credits each summer. Please note that during the summer, financial aid is available for qualified students.

Summer Sessions & Lifelong Learning is not just about summer. WINTERmester is a compressed session held the first part of January. One of the advantages of WINTERmester is that it counts toward your spring course load and can lessen the number of courses you take during the spring semester. You can also use spring financial aid to cover the cost of the WINTERmester course.

We challenge you to be a part of an exciting educational adventure be it during summer or winter and hope that you will join us!
