Descriptive Research

The type of research adopted for study is descriptive. Descriptive studies are

undertaken in many circumstances when the researches is interested to know the

interested in knowing the proportion of people in a given population who have in

particular manner, manner making projections of a certain thing or determining

approach cannot be changed every now and then. It is therefore necessary, the

researcher give sufficient thought to framing research.

Hyperuricemia (British English: hyperuricaemia) is a level of uric acid in the

blood that is abnormally high. In humans, the upper end of the normal range is

360 µmol/L (6 mg/dL) for women and 400 µmol/L (6.8 mg/dL) for men.

Causes

Many factors contribute to Hyperuricemia, including: genetics, insulin resistance,

hypertension, renal insufficiency, obesity, diet, use of diuretics, and consumption

of alcoholic beverages. Of these, alcohol consumption is the most important.

Causes of Hyperuricemia can be classified into three functional types:

increased production of uric acid, decreased excretion of uric acid, and mixed type

A purine-rich diet is a common but minor cause of Hyperuricemia. Diet alone

generally is not sufficient to cause Hyperuricemia. Purine content of foods varies.

Foods high in the purines adenine and hypoxanthine may be more potent in

exacerbating Hyperuricemia.

The principal drugs that contribute to Hyperuricemia by decreased excretion are

the primary antiuricosurics. A ketogenic diet impairs the ability of the kidney to

excrete uric acid, due to competition for transport between uric acid and ketones.

Causes of Hyperuricemia that are of "mixed" also ("double whammy")

type have a dual action, both increasing production and decreasing excretion of

uric acid.

Allopurinol

Allopurinol is a drug used primarily to treat Hyperuricemia (excess uric acid in

blood plasma) and its complications, including chronic gout.[1]

Allopurinol has been marketed in the United States since 1964. Allopurinol

is marketed by Prometheus in the United States as Zyloprim, while in other

countries it continues to be marketed by GlaxoSmithKline. Other brand names are

Allohexal, Allosig, Milurit, Alloril, Progout, and Zyloric.

Febuxostat

Febuxostat (INN; brand names Adenuric (EU) and Uloric (US)) is an

inhibitor of xanthine oxidase that is indicated for use in the treatment of

Hyperuricemia and gout. The drug is marketed by Menarini.

NSAID

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, usually abbreviated to NSAIDs or

NAIDs, are drugs with analgesic and antipyretic (fever-reducing) effects and which

Pune so respectively highest number hyperurecemic patients treated in Mumbai

so it clearly signifies that Mumbai has highest potentiality than Pune and Nagpur

In all 3 Major cities in Maharashtra, all doctors prescribe Allopurinol then any

other drugs for treatment of Hyperuricemia.

As per chemist survey Zyloric [ Allopurinol] made by GSK is most prescribe

brand

Market potentiality of Allopurinol for treatment of Hyperuricemia is higher than

any other drugs

Every study has a certain limitations. In my study, also there were certain

limitations which I could not able to solve.

The Research was conducted in very small area i.e. limited to only 3 major

cities of Maharashtra.

During the research period many other companies also doing same research

with the help of summer trainee that was the biggest drawback for me doctors

and chemist were not able to respond effectively

Some doctors and chemist were not supported to this kind of market research so

they fill questionnaire more careless manner so it was difficult to hold for time

The call timing of doctors was not proper and also all doctors clinics and

hospitals were scattered in different areas so travelling problem I had faced

during market research

My study is not recognizable for whole India as well as outside Maharashtra due

to the limitations
