Recreational Fires

The Ohio Revised Code and the Ohio EPA have set regulations regarding recreational fires. A recreational fire is used for the pur-pose of cooking food for human consump-tion, pleasure, warmth, or recreational purposes. Please, only use well-seasoned fire wood; the burning of yard debris and trash is strictly prohib-ited. The maximum pit or fire ring diameter is 3 feet by 3 feet, and the fire can be no greater than 2 feet in height. It is also important to keep in mind that the fire should be at least 25 feet from com-bustible materials and structures, with a fire extinguisher, working garden hose, or buckets of water provided at the site.

Congratulations on your promotion to Lieutenant Brett Wenzler!

Congratulations on your promotion to Full-time Firefighter, Jason Evans!

Congratulations on your promotion to Major Matthew Sturgeon!

The next Community Clean-Up Day will be September 23, 2017.Location information will be announced at a later time.

• Please call Republic Services 1-800-543-1339 for bulk pick up. For the personal safety of Republic Service Employees, it is required to have all furniture wrapped in plastic. • You are required to obtain a permit before any construction work is performed. (Fence installation, driveway, decks, sheds, etc)

Please remember that trash cans cannot be placed on the curb more than 24 hours before or after your trash collection day and bulk pick up waste cannot be placed on the curb more than 48 hours before your pick up day. All trash and recycle bins must be stored behind the front line of the home or in an enclosed building.

Grass cutting season is upon us again. Proper disposal of yard waste is tremendously important to prevent water pollution problems. It is unacceptable to place any waste, be it yard or other waste materi-als on the street, in drainage ditches or catch basins. Clippings may be disposed of with your regular trash. The City of Riverside re-quires that all grass clippings be placed in either containers or bags for regular garbage pickup.

Numerous volunteers helped with making this event a success in-cluding, City Staff, City Council, Riverside Jaycees, Riverside Citizens, Hope For Riverside, Stebbins JROTC, Stebbins Students, Flight Lline Coffee, and Riverside Chamber of Commerce.

On March 23, 2017, the City held an appreciation dinner for those who have volunteered. The guest speaker was re-tired commander of the 88th Wing of WPAFB and now the President Elect of MVMAA, Cassie Barlow, who received the Key to the City from Mayor Flaute and colors were presented by our own Stebbins HS JROTC.

On Saturday April 22, 2017, the Planning and Program Management Department sponsored a Community Clean-Up Day at Rohrer Park. During this free event, residents were able to bring unwanted house-hold items such as trash, furniture, tires, mattresses, etc. to be dis-posed of. The event was a great success; 353 Vehicles participated in the event. We collected 484 tires and filled 20 roll off dumpsters that totaled 83,420 pounds of trash! Montgomery County Environmen-tal Services sponsored a Household Hazardous Waste collection and were able to collect/remove 18,502 pounds of household hazardous waste from the City of Riverside.

Plans for June include an interesting and in-formative tour of the Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. The entertainment for our carry-in is still pending. We will be traveling to Melody’s in New Carlisle for our dine out, details about transportation will be announced later. Come join us for good food, fellowship and celebra-tion of the first day of summer.

July brings summer and an Americana theme for our carry-in. We will be heading to MCL Cafeteria for our dine out.
