Check us out on Facebook and on the web at trcmaine.org/brownvillehistorical What’s Been Going On? Here’s a recap of what’s been going on at the Parish House Museum and with the BBJ Historical Society this summer: Ken Hatchette’s new book, More Than a Train Yard and a Whistle Stop: The Canadian Pacific Railway in Brownville Junction 1886 to 1963, will be available soon. It is currently with the publisher. There is an order form for prepublication orders in this newsblip. Currently, we have sold more than 85 copies of the book! THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! We are finally at a point where we are taking bids for the installation of a heat pump at the museum!!! Our notforprofit application was submitted a couple months ago. It could be some time before we know that status of that application. We have been cleaning up, clearing out, rearranging, organizing, and documenting the 4200+ items in the museum all summer and it will still be a project that won’t be completed for a long time! The Summer Newsletter What’s in the most recent newsletter? An article about Elmer Ames from the Bangor Daily in 1950. Mr. Ames lived in Brownville Junction (then, Henderson) before the railroad came, helped build the railroad yard and worked on the railroad! Great story! More information about Ken’s new book. An interesting story from Ruth Bain Port that accompanied her book order. A rare photo of Brownville Junction taken from the top of the CPR’s water tower in 1921. and more… If you wish to become a member to receive our newsletters, a membership form is included here.
