Summer Term 2015
Fantastic Football Music For Life
By Ruth
Three people from Music for Life came and talked to us. First they played us a song which they played along to a backing track. It sounded really beautiful. After they played that, one of the people, Mike came up and talked to us about the trumpet. He told us that it was from the brass fami-ly. He also showed us a trombone and he helped us see that a smaller instrument makes a high-er sound and a bigger instrument makes a lower sound. We were really amazed when he showed us a red plastic trrumpet that had been made us-ing a 3D printer. It even sounded like a real one! Some children had great fun trying to make a sound on the instruments. The visitors were amazed at how
well they did. Then we were shown a violin and a cello which is the 2nd biggest instru-ment in the string family.
Again we were shown how the smallest instru-ment made the highest sound. He also showed us how the sounds were made using the bow and strings
Finally the last person came up with the saxo-phone and told us that the saxo-phone is in the woodwind family group. She said that the alto saxophone is the best for beginners. She also talked to us about the clarinet and the flute. They ended by playing 2 more songs which we all really enjoyed. We had a great time lis-tening to them and we all learnt quite a lot.

On the afternoon of 21st of April 2015 Mrs Chesworth and Mrs Parsons transported 8 boys to play in a football tournament at Bishop Heber High School, Mal-pas. The 8 boys names were Ethan Goldthorpe (team captain), Red Morgan, Dylan Cotgreave, Tristan Weetch, Bob Vaughan, Will Beddows, Danny Mosford and Matty Bailey. It was an ex-citing game as they played on the new Astro-Turf pitch recently put in by the Heber. The first match they played was against Farndon which they drew 0-0. Their next match was against Clutton which they won 2-0 with goals scored by Dylan and Red and their third game was against Tattenhall B which they won 2-0 with goals again by Dylan and Red. The last match of all was with Malpas which they drew 0-0. This took us to the semi-finals
against Tattenhall A where they
played 8 minutes each way. They
drew 1-1 which meant it went to
a Golden Goal. This means that
the first team to score would win.
Just before the end of the 4
minutes play, Tattenhall scored
from a corner so we didnt make
the finals. Mrs Parsons said, the
boys played magnificently. Well
done you should be proud of
yourselves.

PGL Fun
On the 14th April Class 5 went to PGL. We spoke to Lily and Zach about the fun they had there. On the way they went to Ludlow Castle where they spent time sketching the castle, going up the tower and looking at the views, playing in the dungeons and having lunch.
Once they arrived at PGL they met their leader Dobby and the real fun began. They built a raft and went on the lake in it, shot arrows in archery , went down a zip wire, did rifle shooting, the trapeze, abseiling, rock climbing, aero ball (like playing netball on a trampoline), built a den, followed a treasure hunt called Passport to the World and did the low rope challenge.
Zach really enjoyed the archery as he could see he was getting better and he also thought the zip wire was real-ly good fun. Lily thought the raft building was the best and she was the wettest girl by the end of the challenge. She thought that the trapeze would be really hard but was actually quite surprised at how easy it was!
When asked what the funniest memory of PGL was
they said Danny losing his trousers in the mud course!
He also seemed to enjoy putting mud down his top. We
have all enjoyed learning some of the songs they sang
and looking at the photos. We cannot wait until we go
to PGL!

DHL Lorry Visits School
Three people Kevin, Gary and Tom came to do a
talk about being safe around big vehicles. The
DHL lorry they brought weighed 44000 kilograms
the same as 7 elephants, was the same height as
a tall giraffe and it was about 16 meters long. You
realised how big the lorry was when you saw the
size of the
wheel against
people. They
told us that we
need to be
safe around
lorries and oth-
er big vehicles
as the driver
has so many
blind spots and the lorry is also really powerful
and fast. To show us how powerful they are Kevin
drove over a cone which ended up really flat. Two
people went in the lorry and then to show the
blind spots the whole class was hidden next to
the lorry. Mrs
Vaughan was
quite shocked
when she was
sat in the lorry
and couldnt see
her whole class
as they were in
a blind spot! He
also showed us that when the driver has the mu-
sic and engine on he couldnt hear the class who
were shouting stop as loudly as they could. After
that we found out that the driver can only drive 4
and half hours before he has a stop and that the
lorry is always on the road using 550 of fuel in 12
hours! At the end we all had an exciting treat. It
was a goodie bag which contained a lorry ruler, a
slowdown sticker, a pencil, a pen, colouring cray-
ons, a note book and a key ring. It was a really
interesting visit and I am sure we will all be much
safer around large vehicles now.

This term our Fergus Factor was
awarded to Jessica Arden. She told
us that she is really proud of her self
and was very surprised. She also said
she was really happy to have it and
said it was very shiny. Her family
were really happy and excited when
she took it home. She thinks she got
it because she is really brave. She
says she keeps it on the sideboard at
home so that everyone can see it.
Every term the Fergus Factor is
awarded to someone from our school
who is really brave and works hard.
Fergus` parents gave the school the
award to give out in memory of how
brave Fergus was when he was ill.
Well done Jess.

On a very windy and cold April morning Mrs Chesworth and Mrs Parsons took a Year 3 and 4 hockey team to Deeside ramblers. The team was Annabel Cotgreave, Ruby Cotgreave, Ben War-rington, Ryan Hodkinson, Casper Armstrong, Freya Diamond and Callum Rodway. There were sixteen schools competing who were divided into 4 groups and our school were in group D with Duddon A, Manley A and Eaton. The team played Duddon A in the first game and
won 2-0. In the second game they played Eaton
and won 1-0 so that left them to play Manley A
who had also beaten their other two teams. Bick-
erton needed to win their game against Manley A
to reach the semi-finals but unfortunately Manley
got one goal so we lost 1-0. This meant that we
came 2nd in our
group leaving
Manley to go
through to the
semi-finals.
We played well
and everyone
enjoyed play-
ing.
Hockey
On Wednesday 20th May we were entered in a Tri-Golf
competition at Helsby Golf Club. The team was,
Gemma Dulson, Ruth Ivanova, Zach Pearse, Luke
Pearse, Charlie Klass, Niamh Ridyard, Chloe Wilson
and Joe Browne. When we arrived we had our packed
lunch while watching people playing golf. We were
supposed to start at 1:00pm but some schools were
late so we didnt start until 1:20pm! We were in group
A and we had to complete 5 different activities using a
golf club and a ball. Some of the activities we did were
these: we had to hit a coloured cone and we were
awarded with a different amount of points depending
on which colour we hit, hitting a ball over cones to land
before some white ones and hitting cones in order.
There were 15 schools in total but we were against
Dee Banks, Overleigh, St Oswalds, Saighton, Christle-
ton, Huntington and Delamere. We came 7th and
earned a total of
336 points which
was amazing as
none of us had ever
played golf before!
We all had a really
fun time and it was
a great experience.

Class 1 have really enjoyed their topic on
bugs and have been watching stick insects
and searching
for worms for
their worm
farms.
As part of the
topic Class one
re-enacted the
story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar for
their parents. All the children painted food
for the performance and Xavi (the caterpil-
lar) pretended to eat it as they told the sto-
ry. All the children wore head bands that
they had made which were either butterflies
or caterpillars. Everyone also said a little bit
of the story. At the end the Hungry Cater-
pillar turned into a beautiful butterfly
(Fifi). After acting out the story they sang a
song which
they all did ac-
tions for. Well
done class 1.
We are sure
your parents
really enjoyed
it.

The Infants had an Ugly Bug day as
part of their topic A Bugs Life where
they all they all dressed up as bugs like
ladybirds, bees, spiders, butterflies
and grass hoppers. They had an Ugly
Bug Ball and had music, games and
dancing. Class 1 also made fruit kebabs
and 3D grasshoppers and had an amaz-
ing photo shoot. Year 2 made spider
web pictures based on the Anansi sto-
ries, made bugs out of anything, wrote
invitations to the ball and tried a bit of
peach and honey. All the Infants and
their teachers had a great day and
they loved showing off their outfits in
assembly too! Mrs Vaughan said the
children looked amazing in their outfits
although I am sure they were teasing
me with the amount of spiders I had in
the classroom! We had a fab day.

Terrific Topic Display
At the beginning of the second half term we
had a topic display evening where the school
was open for everyone to come and look
round - the classrooms were packed with
lots of parents, grandparents and children
all evening.
Everyone looked like they were enjoying
themselves. In the hall there were a few
snacks like biscuits, flapjacks, banana crum-
ble biscuit, juice and tea. It was nice to hear
everybody talking about how impressed they
were with their childrens work. Each class-
room also had lots of activities to do as well
as lovely displays. Here are some of the
things each class did: in class 1 they were
threading beads to make worms, in class 2
there was Lego boat making and the task
was to make a boat out of Lego and see if it
floated, in class 3 there were bee bots and
loads of topic books and Egyptian work, class
4 had a game called polydron where you con-
nect shapes together and there were topic
books and drawing and in class 5 there were
topic books, a game called bop it and frac-
tion cards.
It was a lovely evening and everyone enjoyed
it. A couple of comments from parents were
it was lovely too see all the beautiful work
in the classrooms and the art work is so
good it is like Heber art work.

A Visit to See The Queen
As a newly appointed Chaplain to the Queen, Canon Davenport went to the Royal Garden Party and he told us all about his exciting visit in assembly! He went down to London and on the morning of the Garden Party he arrived at the Palace and unlike many others he went straight through into the court yard! In total there were 7800 people at the event. Canon Davenport and his friend had a walk around the grounds and gardens which were very big and it took a long time to walk round the whole of it. He said they were very beautiful. Canon Davenport then went near the steps of the terrace as he had been asked to, with all the other 36 Chaplains, and there were 20-30 Gentlemen in Arms and some Yeoman of Guards who all looked very smart. At exactly 3-59pm the Gentlemen in Arms took their hats off just before the Queen ar-rived.
Canon Davenport told us that the Queen walked to the middle of the terrace and the National Anthem was played, which he found very moving as the Queen was there. The Queen actually spoke to Can-on Davenport and asked him if he liked it in the countryside to which he said yes and mentioned Bickerton! Later he went in the Royal tent with about 60 others to have tea. He spoke to Princess Alexandra you cannot start a conversation but can answer. When it came time for the Queen to leave everyone clapped.
Canon Davenport said the Queen taught him that
you should make everyone feel special as she did
him and like God does all of us.
The memory of this day will never leave Canon
Davenport and we all enjoyed hearing about it.

Everybody had a great
Sports Day and even the
sun came out! Class 4 and 5
got the afternoon going by
doing a line dance - every-
one was great and loved it!
We had lots of races such
as running, skipping, sack,
bouncy hoppers, obstacle
and egg and spoon. Georgie
did very well announcing
the races over the loud
speaker. We all raced real-
ly well and there was good
team spirit with lots of
cheering from the houses.
The winning team was
Beeston.
After sports day the Sum-
mer Fair began which had
been organised by the PTA.
There was a BBQ, bouncy
castle, nutella spoons
where you got a big scoop
of nutella and decorated it
with sprinkles, marshmal-
lows and strawberries, hair
braiding, a raffle, face
painting, a bottle tombola,
cake stall, beat the keeper,
jam jars, snail racing and
the Year 6s ran stalls. The
fair raised around 1400
which was really good. Well
done everyone and thank
you to the PTA for organ-
ising the fair.

Y5/Y6 Rounders Tournament
On 16th June 2015 Mrs Chesworth and Mrs

Rounders Tournament at Heber. Our team was:
Red Morgan (team captain), Dylan Cotgreave,
Matty Bailey, Jacob Diamond, Tristan Weetch,
Ethan Goldthorpe, Danny Mosford, Rachel
Johnson, Tamara Jones, Lily Gorman and Ruth
Ivanova. We played against Farndon, Tushing-

Farndon next but lost 3 runs to their 41/2, then
we played Malpas which was our best game and
we won. Last of all we played Tushingham

but as Farndon won all of theirs they were the
winners. (5th was Malpas, 4th Tilston, 3rd Tush-
ingham, we came 2nd and Farndon came 1st.)
We all really enjoyed ourselves and were proud
of our achievement. Mrs Parsons commented
the team played very well and we thank them
for their commitment in Sport that they have
given to Bickerton School as all of this team
now move on to High School in September.
Good luck!

Class 4 went on an amazing
trip - it was to Castleton.
We were all so excited for
days before we went and
loved every minute of being
there. When we all first got
there we did some mapping
of all the places we were go-
ing to visit.
We walked up Mam Tor and
saw the broken road which
had been caused by rain
washing the mud from un-
derneath the road away. We
also walked up Winnat Pass,
visited Purcell Castle and
Treak Cliff Cavern where we
saw stalagmites and stalac-
tites. We were all very
tired after the walks.
At night we watched Nanny
McPhee and Paddington and
we had some juice while we
were watching it. It was
great fun and relaxing after
our tiring days! We all had
amazing bedrooms that
where so cosy. Also during
tea time there was amazing
food. You had a starter,
main course and dessert.
It was a brilliant trip. We
are now making special
books on Castleton as a
keepsake.

Mrs Morley visits Carcassonne
Recently, Class 5 teacher, Mrs Morley, trav-elled all the way to Carcassonne in the South of France for 7 days to learn all about what they do there and also to learn lots of French. On the first day, Mrs Morley participated in a special treasure hunt through the ancient part of Carcassonne, speaking French to find out where selected photos were taken. It must have been fun and it looks like our teacher en-joyed this day a lot. The following day, she visited the beautiful vil-lage of Villegailhenc where she did a treasure trail to find out about the village. In the after-noon, as every afternoon, Mrs Morley spent time in the classroom improving her French and learning lots of ideas to help teach us. In the mornings of Monday through until Friday, she took part in language lessons and exciting games. On the Tuesday, Mrs Morley visited a French school for the whole day in a class of year 6s. She watched the teacher teach the lessons and then ate her lunch with the head teacher! How exciting! During the afternoon, she showed a picture of Bickerton School to the children, read them a story and then played lots of fun games. In the evening of Tuesday, Mrs Morley had a cultural experience and did wine tasting at the vineyards. She learnt lots of amazing French dances, visited a boot shop then went shop-ping at the local supermarket. Later she played
Petanque, (which is also called boules) and Mrs Morley enjoyed it a lot! Lots of bands were playing music for free and it was called Fete de la Musique. She enjoyed that a lot too!!! She visited the Mayors office and the Roman urns, which Mrs Morley found extremely fasci-nating as the urns were not behind glass cabi-nets but were being used as umbrella holders! Mrs Morley said she had a lovely and fantastic experience. It was intense and hard work but it was super! We are glad you had a wonderful time Mrs
Morley and we look forward to you teaching us
all what you learnt.

On Thursday 9th of July, local primary schools sent their brilliant art work to Bishop Heber High School as part of the Hebers Arts Evening. The theme was art through music. One school had Viking art, one carnival of ani-mals, one even did pop art and others
did art based on instruments! Our school did Mendelssohns Midsummers Night Dream which included woods, fairies, trees and even dragon flies! It looked stunning.
There was also music and drama acts
performed by Heber pupils, there were
some ex Bickerton pupils like Lucy
Bourne and Yasmin Palmer who were
fabulous.

Class one had a super exciting visit to the Whitchurch Fire sta-tion!! They were there for the morning and they did some really cool stuff!
They sat inside the fire engine and saw all the equipment in the truck! They learnt how the fire engine could not travel up steep places, but how the fire car could. They pretended to put out a fire - how cool is that!! Becky told us that only 7 peo-ple could fit in the fire truck at once. They had a talk with the Fire Men and they told them that there were 18 people working at the fire station.
T r i s t a n s dad showed them the equipment that the fire men had to wear: a hel-met, a fire suit and a pair of fire boots. The chil-dren also got to try on a helmet! Then, a few at a time, they climbed in the fire en-
gine and put the siren on, it was very loud! They learnt how to call 999 and if they were on fire that they jump down and roll. It sounds like class
one had a great day!
The Infants had a fantastic time at St Oswalds Church finding all the different things that they might see in a Church and learning what they were used for. They also sketched all their favour-ite objects. They admired the beauti-ful stain glass windows and were all amazed at the stunning statues of an-gels hanging from the church roof. They also loved the gleaming gold cross on the back wall of church. They saw the ropes that were pulled to ring the bells and found out some of the things that went on in the Church.
After that they went to High Street Church to compare. This Church is only 20 years old and is a modern building. The chil-dren were fascinated with the
Baptistery which was under the stage. They real-ised that although the Church looked very differ-ent they still had a lot of the things that are im-portant to Christians e.g. crosses, a font, Bibles. They enjoyed looking around and finding the same objects. Next the Infants went to Llangollen to experience a ride on a horse drawn boat down the canal. Their boat was pulled by a horse called Stanley. They loved watching the horse pull the boat. While they were on the boat they ate their dinner. They were going to spend some time sketching but sadly it was rain-ing. They all said they had a great time.

Year 6 did a play called Robin Hood
and the Sherwood Hoodies. It was so
funny and we all laughed lots. Every-
body was great with their lines and
the songs were amazing! They had
worked so hard.
Mrs Morley and Mrs Chapman were so
happy and everyone was outstanding!
There were so many jokes and Danny
especially made us laugh with his.
A great performance Class 5 well
done!
Our Amazing Year 6s!

Recently Year 6 from Cheshires Church
Schools went to Chester Cathedral for a leav-
ers service.
When they got there they all sung lots of lovely
hymns as people from each school carried down
a banner. I thought ours stood out the most
because it had all of our values and hand prints
on, whereas the other schools had pictures on
their banners of the children that were leaving.
There was also a High School that did a role
play about Jesus calming the storm. It was to
show us that we dont need to be worried as
God is always with us even when youre feeling
lost. There were also readings from the Bible
read by children from different schools.
My favourite part of all was seeing the banners
as they went down, the role play of the older
children and also the lovely hymns!
Gemma thought the message was that even
though the school
looks big and you
think youre going
to lose your way,
remember God is
always with you.
She also loved the
singing as it filled
the Cathedral.

Everyone was so encouraging and when I abseiled down my friend gave me a big hug for bravery. Tip: Always have the confidence to try harder!
Rachel One of my lasting memories of Bickerton will always be the fantastic sports days because I love the thrill of the races and I enjoyed winning them in the infants! I also love the summer fair, stalls and BBQ. I will also remember the first day of school and my best friend Squirmy the Worm. He and all the teachers made me feel safe and helped me enjoy my time in class 1. Tip: Keep your friends close, try not to argue with anyone and enjoy your time at primary school because this wonder-ful time will not last forever.
Charlotte One of my lasting memories of Bickerton will most certainly be whenever we had a worry in class 1 we would tell Squirmy or the worry stone or say what we did at the weekend. I will also re-member when we were let into the celebration garden and played a good game of hide and seek behind the bushes and trees. We had lots of fun! Tip: Work hard at this amazing action packed school and have loads of fun!
Tamara One of my lasting memories of Bickerton is when I was in year 6 and we went outside looking for birds. Millie and I tried to call a turkey!

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Ethan My time at Bickerton has been epic and that is just summing it up! All my friends are so kind and I have loads of fun with them. One of my lasting memories will be PGL and the chal-lenge mud course. I will remember when I walked into the classroom on my first day on 3rd March 2014 and all the smiles I had on my face because everyone was so friendly. This is the best primary school on the planet. I also loved Young Voices singing and dancing the night away. Tip: Have loads of fun, enjoy all the moments you have with your friends but be good and never ever stop smiling!
Matty One of my lasting memories will be in Class 1 when we had a worry or upset we would get the magic pebble out and pass it around the circle and say what we did. I will always remember in Class 2 Mrs Boothby would take us into the celebration garden to play and have lots of fun. Tip: Work hard in this fabulous school and get educated but also have tons of fun because before you know it you will be at high school.
Ruth One of my lasting memories will be the rounders tournament and we came 2nd. I will remember PE when Mrs Parsons made us run and she would have her little fun with us! The best parts of the day are assemblies, break times and after school clubs, especially athletics. Tip: Enjoy your days in school, always have a smile on your face and have fun learning and playing with friends!
Gemma I will never forget the first time I saw Mrs Latham and the way she would welcome me everyday as a gorgeous google and she would let us tell our fears to squirmy the worm. Another thing is that everyday Mr Sweetnam and any member of staff will always say good morning to you when you come in in the morning. Bickerton is like a sec-ond family, standing up for you and always wanting to see you smile. Tip: Have loads and loads of fun and remember Bickerton as your family and friend, not your enemy.
Millie One of my lasting memories will be in Class 2 when every Fri-day someone will take Barney home and every week you hoped it would be you. Week after week you watched other people get it and out of nowhere your name came up and you were so excited as you wanted the best weekend with Barney the Bear!
Zach One of my lasting memories will be when I went to Lud-
low castle and found a bird skeleton in one of the higher
towers!
Red One of my long lasting memories at Bickerton will be playing football in a storm in May on the school field it was the worst rain we had had all year. It was me and Dylan against everyone else and somehow we drew 11 all. I will always remember jump-ing 1 m 7 in high jump at athletics in year 5 and winning the competition.
Dylan One of my lasting memories at Bickerton will be repre-senting the school by playing sport which has developed my skills massively. I will always remember the way that Mrs Latham met us in the morning with a smile on her face, and was always ready to cheer us up.
Christy I will always remember all the residential trips that I went on, especially PGL. That was the most fun and daring adventure filled with abseiling, the mud course and lots of other fun things. Tip: My advice would be have lots of fun but know when to stop.
Bill I remember at PLG I was very frightened because it was my first night away from my parents.

Music Performance
On Tuesday 7th of July Bickerton guitarists and some of our piano and keyboard players put on a spectacular display for the whole school and parents to watch and listen to. There were 8 guitar players: Tristan, Emily, Billy, Alex, Beau, Christy, Alicia and Daisy and the pianists were Rachel, Charlie, Harry, Son-ny and Emily. The pianists played solos and the guitarists played 5 songs, some altogether and some in little groups. The songs were called Budapest, Green On-ions, Im Not the Only One, Thinking Out Loud and Uptown Funk.
Ian the teacher of guitar said, the guitarists at Bickerton worked hard and put on a great concert for the rest of the school. We had a great mixture of abilities on stage, from those who have been learning for a few years, to
the people who have had ten weeks! Weve even had some help from the audience for the last song (Uptown Funk). Well done all of you, we all really enjoyed your perfor-mance, whether it was the keyboard, piano or guitar.

Canon Davenport came to the Infants to teach them about a Christening in more detail after they had seen the font in St Oswalds. First Canon Davenport explained what a Chris-tening was, saying that it is welcoming a baby into the Church family and the parents and God parents make promises before God.
He then chose 3 Godparents and a Mum and Dad and put them in position by the font. Next they named the baby (little doll) Rose Lily and Canon Davenport showed the children what happened during the
Christening and why things were done. Canon Davenport even showed the children his alb (special white robe) and gave the Godparents cards to remind them of their promises and a Certificate and Candle to the parents.
The children really enjoyed taking part in the Christening and they all learnt a lot about this special Christian sacra-ment.

On the 29th June at lunch time our local community police officers, Nick and Sha-ron came in to have a chat with the school. First they chatted to class 1 and 2 an-swering all of their ques-tions. After that they went
into Class 4 and any of the Juniors could come and talk to them about any concerns they had or ask questions. It was good to have a chat and Nick and Sharon were really friendly and said they would come back soon.

Day 2 by Joe Brown
I woke up in the morning and talked to my
friends while we waited for Miss G to call us
down for breakfast. In the meantime, we got
changed out of our PJs and showered. Then
it was time for breakfast. For breakfast I
had a delicious cooked breakfast of bacon,
sausage, hash brown and beans.it was very
yummy! I also had some orange juice for a
drink.
After breakfast we had some playtime out-
side on the climbing tree while we waited for
Mr Sweetnam to get the art work for our
drawings. After a while playing, we had to
draw and watercolour the Youth Hostel or
the climbing tree. I did the Youth Hostel.
Soon after, we had finished our drawings, we
had lunch. I had a cheese sandwich, salt and
vinegar crisps, an apple and a slice of choco-
late cake. It was yummy.
The, after lunch, we did our activities in Cas-
tleton. We did shopping for sweets with Mrs
Tudor, mapping of the streets with Mr
Sweetnam, perspective art of the street
with Miss Briscoe and a people questionnaire
survey with Miss G. then we went back to
the Youth Hostel for tea.
After that, we had tea - I had curry for the
main course and fruit salad for dessert.
Then we had to go upstairs and get changed
into our PJs. When were ready, we went
down stairs and watched the first part of
the film called Paddington. It was really fun-
ny! Then we went to bed.
Day 1 by Molly Tudor A long, 2 hour journey from Bickerton to Castleton was hysterical. We sang The Wheels on the Bus for 10 minutes straight, and Lullah had a huge bag of Maoam sweets, AND 4 packets of fruitella! I en-joyed the bus ride a lot, especially when Lullah and I invented a song [actions too!] When we arrived at the hostel, we ate our desired lunch [ I wanted mine so much that it most proba-bly would have shown up in the mirror of ERISED-Harry Potter], and went outside to play. Then we split into groups, and had to find all the places that we were going to visit, but nobody found Broken Road. Once wed puzzled over the maps, we drew a map of the grounds. Everybody thought Miss Gs pig was hilarious. Then we went to our rooms [after we finished laughing at Miss Gs pig!] to unpack. I spent 3 minutes carefully shoving all my stuff into the cup-
board, because I spent 15 minutes having a panic attack when I couldnt find my glow-in-the-dark skeleton onesie, but Id thought it was a pair of leg-gings and didnt realise until I practically searched and knocked over my pile of trousers. After meeting on the landing, we went for a walk into Castleton. We walked for about half an hour, and had a good look round. We saw the fudge shop, and we were all sad that Mr Sweetnam looked at a notice on the door that said the fudge kitchens were closed! When we got back, we had tea. I had Tomato Soup, Jacket Potato and Fruit yogurt. After tea we had to change into our PJs, dressing gowns and slippers to watch Nanny McPhee. It was really funny! When Miss Briscoe turned the DVD off we were all sad because they all wanted to keep watching, but I was glad to go to bed.

Day 3 By Millie Smith Yawnit is Sunday, time to get ready for the big walk. I stumbled out of my bed half awake, half asleep. I listened to the boys next door but I couldnt understand what they were saying over a strange snoring in the room that in was sharing. Which I later found out was Emily, or Molly I re-ally dont know. Next it was breakfast and I had cereal, bacon, sau-sages, beans and a pain au chocolate. I will miss this great breakfast when Im back at home. After a while I had got ready to go to Treak Cliff Cavern and we had started our walk. Half an hour later, we had arrived at Treak Cliff Cavern and we had met our tour guide, he was called Ben. In the cavern we saw stalactites and stalagmites we also saw a scary shadow of a witch!
Next we went up Winnats Pass. It was really steep and windy. We kept on having to have a rest. Then we had lunch in a field and I realised that I really liked waking steep hills. Then we walked Mam Tor and it had spectacular views but was so windy Mr Sweetnam fell over. Then we walked back down Mam Tor to see Bro-ken Road. Half of the road had fallen down the hill. Also on the way an American lady stopped to talk to us and stroke Jacks hair. Then we walked back to the hostel for a well-deserved tea which tonight, was jacket potato and yoghurt. Next we got ready for bed and Molly made us all laugh with a particular funny joke, then we went downstairs to watch Paddington, it was really funny. Then we all went to sleep.
Day 4 By Luke Pearce On Monday, I woke up sad. It was the last day in Castleton. I de-cided to strip my bed, get dressed and tidy my room. Charlie, Bob and Joe did an excel-lent job of tidying up. Then, we had break-fast and set off to.. Peveril Castle! Inside, there were medieval toilets, prison cells and even very old stairs which you could walk down and go into the pit! We took selfies, pictures of the castle and the view from it on our cameras and iPads and shared
some of them on the school website. Then we walked back to the hostel, had lunch, put our bags on the coach and drove back off to school. When we were back at school, year 6 and Reece were playing rounders. We sat in a circle and handed out sweets to each other and gave two pieces of fudge to Georgie and Reece, any way all the par-ents arrived soon after and taken us home. That was the end of our residential.
Presentation to Parents
Class 4 did a wonderful presentation to their parents to show off their work about Cas-tleton. Each group had made
a poster and talked about a part of their trip and then the children showed their Mums, Dads and Grandparents their amazing Castle-ton books. Everyone loved seeing and sharing the books and there was a l o v e l y buzz in the hall. W e l l d o n e Class 4.
