SUMMER AT HYPERION - Exposed to industry work experience - Enhanced technical writing skills - Gained practical experience with “Scheduling Program” - Introduced to technical vocabulary used in industry - Accomplished daily objectives set by Project management Team leaders Being involved in such an extensive project displayed the critical role that project management plays on the efficiency of project deliverables. In addition, the daily interaction with professional engineers allowed us to better understand the approach and ethics that must be employed by a project management team, in order to execute a multimillion dollar project such as this one. We want to thank the National Science Foundation and the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) program for providing this rewarding experience; additionally, we would like to thank the Bureau of Sanitation for opening their doors and creating a learning environment. Special thanks to Sam Alavi, Eduardo Perez and the project management team at Hyperion Treatment Plant for This summer Bernie and Angel had the opportunity to intern at the Hyperion Treatment Plant located at El Segundo, CA. There, they were part of a Project Management Office that managed and oversaw existing projects. As interns, they were gradually integrated into the Los Angeles Wastewater Integrated Network Systems (LAWINS) Project. A project that was started in 2011 with the objective of replacing the outdated control systems that facilitates plant operations through the city of LA.
