Ski liFtS For pedeStrianSThe ski lifts in Châtel open in summer provide an effortless way to reach the peaks and starting points of walks…

From the village centre, the Super-Châtel gondola lift takes you up to an altitude of 1,650m. From there you can continue on the Morclan chairlift up to 1,970m and a breathtaking panorama… a viewing table there tells you the names of all of the peaks. The Morclan is also a paragliding take-off area…

From Pré-la-Joux, 6km from the village, the Pierre-Longue chairlift takes you directly to the village of Plaine-Dranse in the mountain pastures. From there you can continue your walk by taking the rochassons chairlift, and you can even get to avoriaz by using two other chairlifts…

With the Portes du Soleil Multi Pass, pedestrians can use all of the ski lifts operating in the summer in the Portes du Soleil. it is also possible to use the four lifts in Châtel (Super-Châtel gondola lift or Morclan, Pierre-Longue and rochassons chairlift) when you buy just one return ticket.

mtb trial parkThis man-made trial mountain biking area at Pré-la-Joux is made up of various features which blend in perfectly with the natural surroundings. With one rule for all and different routes for each level, this bike skills course is both fun and instructive, plus it’s absolutely free and open to everyone.It is of course recommended that you wear a helmet.

tHe mountain bike parkThe Châtel Bike Park is a special area dedicated to mountain biking fanatics in the Pré-la-Joux sector, which is reached via the Pierre-Longue and/or rochassons chairlifts.it has around twenty downhill trails at all difficulty levels and a number of fun zones. These include 6 north Shore zones, a Kids’ Shore and a Drop Zone with a Live Park where you can video yourself and share your videos with your friends.Please note: a suitable mountain bike, helmet and protective gear are compulsory.

as part of a global concept designed to protect and educate using sustainable development methods.

The Chablais extends from the shore of Lake Geneva to the highest peaks in the Portes du Soleil, covering an

area where man has long been present and where the history of the earth has been a major force in shaping the history of humanity. The traditional buildings, land

use, mountain pasture farming tradition and the natural resources of the Évian and Thonon mineral waters are all

waLksdiScovery activitieSMorclan themed trail: a walk discovering the local fauna, flora and habitat, accessible using the Super-Châtel ski lifts (included in the Multi Pass).

Water trail: running between the Lac de Vonnes in Châtel and the Lac de Morgins in Switzerland, this walk features ten information boards in the shape of a water drop. The topics covered include water, water tables and water in the mountains.

Bird trail: information boards at the Col de Bassachaux providing an introduction to the mountain birds found in Châtel.

Dranse riverside trail: for walkers and cyclists! This trail which runs along the riverside from Pré-la-Joux to abondance is nearly 16 km long and accessible to everyone: families, sporty types, children and pushchairs.

The route is mostly flat and runs through areas of ecological interest, offering pretty riverside views and a chance to see the local heritage along the way…

in short, it gives you a glimpse of another side of the abondance Valley.

Smugglers' Way audio trail. Follow in the footsteps of the smugglers and customs officials who once played cat and mouse in this mountainous border area between France and Switzerland.

To hear these colourful adventures, go to Châtel Tourisme or the old Customs house to obtain a battery to activate the audio terminals and a copy of the illustrated route guide for the walk.

Lac de Vonnes (private lake)Family-friendly fishing lake, all angling techniques: open from 13 May to 3 September and then weekends only from 3 September to 5 november. opening hours: from 13 May to 30 June: 6am to 12pm; July and august: 6am to 11am; September to november: 7am to 12pm.
