Summer Facility MaintenanceThe Campus Recreation Center is scheduled to be closed August 11 through August 14 for facility maintenance and cleaning. The CRC is tentatively scheduled to reopen with regular summer hours on Friday, August 15. The basketball courts, studios and racquetball courts will be closed for floor refinishing August 11 - 24 & will reopen for regular use on Monday, August 25.

Riverview Fitness CenterThe Riverview Fitness Center (RFC) on South Campus will be closed this summer and will reopen for the fall 2014 and spring 2015 semesters. The RFC is open to all full time students, faculty/staff. Questions? Contact [email protected].

New Strength Equipment at CRC We are updating most of our strength equipment at the CRC this summer. This will include a new selectorized circuit and a few other pieces. We are excited to continue to offer the most state-of-the-art equipment and best user experience.

Pricing Changes Whether you are new to exercise or want to take your workouts to the next level, our personal training staff can assist you in reaching your goals. Our student personal trainers will provide you with the education and instruction you need to reach your health and fitness goals! Students, faculty/staff and CRC members can sign up for an initial 5-session package as an individual or with a partner. Once you complete your initial package you can purchase additional sessions with your trainer. See updated prices & options below and sign up today!

How do you sign up? Simply stop by the CRC (or Riverview Fitness Center during semesters) to fill out paperwork & make payment. Trainer availabilities are listed inside each packet so you can select what works best for you. We will contact you within 24-48 hrs to schedule your first session!

Youth Rowing Program

Our Outdoor Adventure Program aims to provide the university community with fun, safe, adventurous experiences, that will teach lifetime skills, teamwork, foster character, leadership & the adoption of healthy lifestyles. Participants of all skill levels are welcome on our trips! We also offer custom trips for groups as small as 6 people & team building program options for groups of 8 up to 50 people!

Team Building Programs We offer a team building experience customized to help each group meet their goals. Our leaders facilitate activities while allowing participants to shape their experience to make it meaningful for them. We follow a philosophy of Experiential Education which incorporates active engagement, challenge, reflection and integration of learning. Expect to play, laugh, move, question, celebrate, and learn. Common Outcomes include:• Enhanced teamwork• Leadership Development• Communication• Increased trust• Increased confidence• Improved problem solving skills• Renewed energy and excitement towards program or team

Group size can range from 8 up to 50 people. Programs primarily operate out of the Campus Recreation Center. We currently do not provide a high-ropes experience. Contact us to discuss options today!

Program Dates The Couch to 5k Program will meet for 9 consecutive weeks on Mondays, 5:30pm-6:30pm, 5/5 - 6/30 @ 222 Merrimack Street, Lowell, MA. No registration required!Note: The Monday, 5/26 (Memorial day) date will meet on Tuesday, 5/27 at 5:30pm instead.

Program Description - FREE!!!This summer Enterprise Bank, Middlesex Community College and Lowell General Hospital have teamed up to create a Couch to 5k program & they are inviting the UMass Lowell community to join in!

This will be a 9-week program where interested participants will meet once a week for a group workout and will be provided guidelines for 2 extra workouts each week that participants should complete to train for a 5k.

After meeting in the Enterprise Bank parking lot at 222 Merrimack Street in Lowell, MA, participants will walk down to the River Walk behind the UMass Lowell Tsongas Center to complete their weekly group workout. We are excited to help people get up, get moving and be ready for a 5k later this summer!

Ballroom DanceHosted 4th “Dancing With the UML Stars” in April & went to Tufts University competition.

Men’s BasketballIn it’s first season, competed in the NIRSA Region 1 League & participated in BU & UMass Amherst Tournaments.

CheerleadingIn their 1st year competing they won the National Championship at Jam Fest in Jacksonville, FL for their division & also took home 1st place at the Cheerletics competition in Massachusetts.

DancePerformed at a variety of shows on campus this spring & successfully hosted their 2nd Annual Kids Day Camp.

Men’s Ice HockeyCompleted successful season making it to the ACHA Colonial Conference championship game where they eventually lost to Norwich University.

Men’s & Women’s RugbyCompeted in Rugby Northeast & other local tournaments throughout the year. On 4/26, they hosted their annual Alumni Game followed by a pig roast and reception at the UMass Lowell Tsongas Center. The teams welcomed over 60 Alumni back to campus!

RecKids Summer Camp 2014 RecKids is a recreational day camp designed for children between the ages of 6 - 12 years old. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and fun environment for our campers. There are discounts available for UMass Lowell members. Parent Orientation will be held on Wednesday June 25 at the CRC and includes an information session, facility tour and staff meet and greet.

Shotokan KarateTravelled to Harvard in April to compete in the Team and Individual Kata and Kumite.

Women’s SoccerTravelled to New England College to compete in a varsity tournament against NEC, Plymouth State, NH Tech & Eastern Nazarene College.

Steppin’ in UnityHosted annual Step Show Competition and had a variety of local High School and University Step Teams perform. Team Blackout from Tufts University took home the $500 Grand Prize.

SwimmingCompeted in April at the Georgia Tech National Swimming Championships in Atlanta, GA.

TennisCompeted in two tournaments at Harvard and at the University of Rhode Island.

Men’s & Women’s Ultimate FrisbeeBoth teams travelled to Brunswick, GA over Spring Break to compete in the East Coast High Tide Ultimate Frisbee Tournament.

Underwater HockeyHosted a two-day pot luck tournament in May with over 50 participants.
