Amiel LindenbaumWhere’s Amiel? That’s a question people have been asking for as long as I can remember. I have a credo of always going the ex-tra mile and never backing down from

an adventure. Life is made richer by the remarkable experi-ences we have along the way. As a surfer and skier, this phi-losophy has taken me from rugged to resort. Whether it’s in the

mountains, islands, jungles or deserts, my goal has always been the same; get out there, get lost, always stay safe and always come back with incredible sto-ries. My best are the ones about escap-ing riot police in Jakarta and standing on tanks in the Kremlin while getting caught in those countries’ revolutions. Now as a father of three boys and the responsibility of keeping kosher, I am keenly aware of the challenges of putting together a fantastic family adventure. Where’s Amiel?I am here, available to share my ex-pertise to help you to get out there and build your own. Together we can craft your next great adventure tale.

Kristina MillerI love a good adventure while also being able to make a difference in my travels! I have been traveling extensively since I was seventeen, to thirty+ countries including stints living in Ireland, the

Czech Republic, Fiji, Peru, and all over the United States. For the past decade I worked in humani-tarian development all over the world in-cluding years work-ing with indigenous

communities in the Amazon rainforest. My specialties include volun-tourism, study tour trips, and travel to remote destinations. The face of travel is chang-ing with many travelers having the de-sire to give back to the places they visit around the world. Using my connec-tions and expertise I can connect my clients with various charitable volun-teer activities (from working with wild-life tracking in Africa, teaching school kids for a few days, or connecting them with projects based on their profession-al expertise), my clients can experience off-the-beaten path communities in very different ways from conventional tourism. Let me help you plan a vaca-tion like none you’ve ever experienced!

You hear it all the time. I am going on an adventure vacation. What does that mean? What does that mean to you? For me, an adventure vacation might be on a safari, in a tented camp with an en suite bath-room, fabulous meals outdoors, and a lodge that washes my clothes every day. For the younger generation it could be the same sa-fari, but in a small tent, with the bathroom out back, cooked food over a campfi re, and travel in a truck. Each of us reacts to the word differently and in today’s world, adventure travel is available for every life style and physical ability. Whether you want to go white water rafting on the Colo-rado River, climb Kilimanjaro, heli-ski off a mountain in Utah, hike down a trail in New Zealand, scuba dive off the coast of Belize, sleep in a yurt in Mongolia or just fi nally visit a country that’s been on your bucket list for years, the decision is totally yours. You can take an adventure cruise, perhaps to the Antarctic or the Galapagos, travel-ing in style and comfort. The options just get better and better as the travel industry adapts to the needs of the traveler. We are more curious than ever, more interested in the world around us. We have more lei-sure time and, with the help of the Internet, want to visit more exotic places. Why not? Why not now? Your Post Haste Travel advi-sor is here to help you with that decision. Call us and let us book your next adventure. In April I had the pleasure of joining other Virtuoso advisors meeting with the Mayor of Barcelona and other dignitaries. It was an opportunity to hear the latest news from this exciting city in Spain!

ADVENTURE WITH FRIENDSBy Phyllis Samowitz, Disney SpecialistSome people can measure their travel adventures in heights, depth and length. Others measure ad-venture for daring challenges. As Spring is in full bloom, holidays just behind us, a refl ection of this year’s memorable adventures was on my mind and this one was quite close to home. Walt Disney World provided the backdrop to our friends’ reunion, bringing together families from Connecticut and California and mine from South Florida. For those Floridians, jaded by the usual and customary 3 hour jaunt up the Turnpike, this does not appear to be very adventurous nor very extraordinary. But if you have ever tried to coordinate 10 people’s interests, including the birthday of a 7 year old, teens and adults alike, we know that this can be a diffi cult task. So creating a new scenario became my mantra in planning a trip for those who “have seen this and done that”. I started with the hotel, choosing the Animal Kingdom Lodge with Savannah views for everyone. From the moment that everyone arrived into the resort, the African theme transports the guests to another continent. The design here is not animatronics but rather authentic craftsmanship and wildlife. The highlight is that animals, including giraffe, zebras and 28 other African species, are roaming through four different Savannah areas. Guests here enjoy private viewing areas, tours with naturalists, native music and storytellers, all creating an atmosphere that transcends the Orlando vibe. The grounds are meticulously cared for and the exclusive amenities can include a Sunrise or Sunset Adventures. From standard rooms to Concierge suites, the whole family can enjoy this oasis of authentic Africa from the music to outstanding, authentic food choices. Also new at Walt Disney World this year, is the introduction of MagicBands, a bracelet that literally opens up your stay with the wave of your hand. No longer will each guest be reaching for key cards, credit cards, paper FastPasses, dining reservations on pieces of paper and battling for spots at parades, character meet and greets or fi reworks. Now MyDisneyExperience App can be downloaded right into your phone and everything you plan from home, for every person in your group, can be managed, added and changed fl awlessly. The best part are the new experiences that Disney keeps adding. For example, for our large group, a dream would be having a private spot to enjoy the “Celebrate the Magic! Castle projection and fi reworks over Cinderella’s Castle in the Magic Kingdom. Having battled the crowds on previous trips, standing guard for hours for an area that all 10 people could occupy, this magnifi cent option gave us the perfect ending of a magical day. We had a lovely dinner, did a couple of amazing rides while everyone else was staking out spots, and then, calmly, with a swipe of our wrists, entered a new world to enjoy the enchantment of a Rose Garden view of fi reworks. At Epcot, the Flower and Garden show transformed the park into a showpiece with thousands of fl ora and garden exhibits and more than 60 character topiaries. There is a butterfl y garden, demonstrations by master gardeners and exhibits of drought resistance plantings. Added to your sighted pleasures, Disney placed dozens of specialty food/wine stations. These food tastings are scattered throughout the World Showcase and are a cause to celebrate all the senses. Gourmet outdoor kitchens dot the lake as you can slowly eat and drink your way around the world. Also, just introduced, a private after hours experience, aptly named, Epcot After Hours, now allows guest a post-fi reworks experience featuring cultural cuisine in four different locations. In the Animal Kingdom, take advantage of the Wild Animal Trek, a small private hour’s long experience to get up close and personal with the park. Or how about the Backstage Safari or Wild by Design, three hour behinds-the-scenes guided experiences. Coming up soon, will be the ever popular Star Wars weekends at Hollywood Studios. For the fi rst time ever, Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself will be Grand Marshall at the parade. From Dining with a Disney Imagineer to drawing classes with an Animator, new adventures at a much visited, beloved Floridian destination can be your ticket to a new ADVENTURE!

One of my greatest ad-ventures to-date was a recent three-week journey from the Ara-bian Sea to the Himalayas across the In-

dian subcontinent. We started out at the luxurious Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, a Virtuoso property, which was the pinnacle of my hotel stays around the world. While in Mumbai we took a ferry boat to the nearby Elephanta Island and explored the Colaba neighborhood. A homestay in a village out-side of Nasik gave us the opportunity to ex-perience village life in a comfortable setting and taste the wines of the local vineyards of India’s wine region. Our next stop was the World Heritage Site Ellora and Ajanta Caves like something straight out of an Indiana Jones movie. As a central hub, a stopover in Delhi gave us the opportunity to explore the historical sites of Old Delhi and then hopped on a train to the ubiquitous Taj Mahal in Agra, defi nitely a must-see for any world traveler. Next stop Khajuraho home to a very interesting, but little-known temple complex. The absolute highlight of this jour-ney was our stay in Bandhavgarh National Park where we followed the alarm calls of spotted and barking deer, monkeys, and peacocks to fi nd tigers. Having the high-est density tiger population, Bandhavgarh offers the best chance to see wild tigers in India and you can even explore the park from the back of an elephant. Ask to see the hidden Vishnu statue while in Bandhav-garh—that’s a highlight in itself. Of course no travel in India is complete without the culture-shocking city of Varanasi, the holi-est city for Hindus. Streets built centuries before vehicles means you rub shoulders with passing cows, Hindu holy men, and riverside funeral pyres make Varanasi over-whelming for the senses but a boat ride to make puja on the Ganges can be a peace-ful experience. And then fi nally up to the Himalayas, a whole other world from the rest of subtropical India. Sunrise from Tiger Hill over the Himalayas where you can see three of the world’s highest peaks including Everest and the nearby Kanchenjunga was spectacular, and Darjeeling with its tea plan-tations and distinctly Buddhist feel make for nice respite after a whirlwind trip across one of the most unique and adventurous travel destinations;Kristina MillerTravel Advisor

I recently returned from another trip to Kenya. Needless to say this Africa destination is my fi rst love. I LOVE SAFARI and none better than in Ke-nya! This visit started with the Kicheche Camps, lo-cated in conservancies in the Maasai Mara. I was there to learn more about Kicheche, as their guest. The camps are strategically located in the heart of the Kenyan wilderness resulting in excellent game view-ing, birding galore, various terrains, and the best food

and drinks in Kenya. There are glorious sunsets and sun-downs. The carefully selected hosts at each lodge bring a sense of home to each camp, each with their own specialties. My favorite was Kicheche at Ol Pejeta. Great game view-ing, food, information and highly rated guides. Kicheche headquarters escorted me and provided excellent insight into the many projects of their Trust. The plan to go package is a listing of the various projects and needs in the local communities, medical, educa-tional, and community involvement, so you may carry donations if you wish. The cultural experiences were awesome. We met, talked and shared with the locals in each com-munity. I learned so much from my visit to the Community Center & Medical clinic. Most importantly this new concept of Conservancies in the Mara is designed to insure the fu-ture and protection of wildlife as well as the fl ora and fauna; responsible tourism; com-munity support – both fi nancially and other wise through development of schools, com-munity resource centers, computers, medical clinics and employment of local residents.I visited and delivered general medical supplies to the Medical clinic and school supplies to one of the locally sponsored schools located in the remote areas of the conservancies. Items were provided from my homeowners association and City Commissioner Coleman of Lauderdale Lakes. Items were selected from a list provided by Kicheche of needed items. Each day began with a 5:30AM wakeup, great coffee or tea and cookies, then a 6AM game drive. During free time we ate great meals, got a spa treatment or just enjoyed the surroundings. A bit of caution; the location of the tented accommodations means much pri-vacy, which translates to walking or hikes (escorted in the evening and early mornings) to and from the reception areas. Evenings are spent around the fi re before dinner discussing the day’s events. Then off to bed, lulled to sleep by the night sounds of the wild elephants bumping the tents, hippo grunts and grazing at your steps or the roar of lion from afar. Mornings bring the constant chirping and sound of birds! The bush breakfast or riverside breakfast after a walking safari awaits those who wish. The vehicles are well equipped with poncho, blankets and rainwear for comfort on the drives. I spent the next 9 days on safari with clients. I joined my group at the new Hemingway’s, Nairobi…a new 45 suite hotel just outside of Nairobi, yet close to the tours and Karen attractions, and to the soon to be com-pleted by-pass around the city. The garden view is magnifi cent! A welcome basket of fresh fruits and fully stocked mini – bar awaits your arrival. After an evening of entertainment we departed for three days in Amboseli where Mount Kilimanjaro was in all of its glory, even through the rain storms. The elephant, buffalo, lion, hyena, rhinos, and hippos all came out to greet us. Then on to Lake Nakuru. The Lake has enlarged in leaps and bounds! New roads carry us around the lake. The birding is not as colorful as on previous occasions; re-portedly they have moved to Lake Naivasha for more alkaline waters. But the game view-ing was still good. My stay at the Sarova provided to be a good choice and is inside the Park. Unfortunately Rhino are being killed in the park. Kenya is on high alert for poaching of elephant and rhino. Then back to the Mara and the newly renovated Mara Serena. It is beautiful with a wonderful full service Spa and wellness center. Game viewing is at its best. We saw all of the big Five several times over. A Bush Breakfast is an experience as you wan-der down the Mara River watching the crocs and listening to the hippo. Suddenly there is a glimpse of a Maasai waiting in the bush to es-cort you a bit further. Where in the World are we going next?

Searching for the unique and once-i n - a - l i f e time experi-ence? This adventure is sure to raise your con-

Reach out for the trip of a lifetime; trekking to the gorilla’s habitat with researchers, spend time with the gorilla family, trek li-ons with your personal lion guide and re-searcher, relax in 5 star accommodations with a glass of wine after your day of ad-venture. “Bucket List”?? This far exceeds the meaning…there are fewer than 800 gorillas living in the wild and YOU will have the chance to visit with these gentle beasts in their natural homes; the forests and jungles of Rwanda and Uganda. The small group of adventurers is open on a fi rst come/fi rst serve basis – there will only be 4 couples (8 people) plus myself experienc-ing this incredible adventure. I am suggest-ing April 2015 or early November 2015 for this itinerary. Please contact me for more information as I put together this amazing experience. Please contact: Candace [email protected]

We will be staying in Havana, Santa Clara and Cienfuegos and meeting with members of the Cuban Jewish community. We will be interacting with other Cubans as well. We look forward to a wonderful trip and a bet-ter understanding of this island country and the challenges faced by its people..In October Jim and I, along with Hanita and Morrie Schreiber, are fl ying to Bangkok for the start of our 16 day Viking Memo-ries Of Mandalay cruise along Irrawaddy River, from Mandalay to Yangon in Myan-mar. We will be aboard the Viking Man-dalay, a traditional Burmese river boat, perfect for exploring all of the fascinating sites along the legendary Irrawaddy River.

Joyce and Dan KleinMy husband and I just r e t u r n e d from two weeks in Central Eu-rope, one week of whichwas a Jew-ish Heritage

Tour on the AmaCerto along the Danube River. The cruise on the AmaCerto start-ed in Budapest and ended in Nuremburg, with stops in Bratislava, Vienna, Durnstein, Melk, Linz, Salzburg and Regensburg. In each city a Jewish Heritage Tour was pro-vided. We had the opportunity to visit synagogues dating back to the 12th cen-tury. You can imagine the vibrant Jewish communities that existed during the 16th to the 19th centuries and then today there are only a few functioning synagogues with small Jewish communities. We spent a few days prior to the cruise in Budapest and a few days at the end of the cruise in Prague. Having been to both of these cities soon af-ter the fall of the Iron Curtain, we could see how much progress has been made in both cities. Defi nitely a great destination!

Gae and Jim KravitTalk about the ultimate adventure...in the ultimate level of luxury, and you have our in-credible Seabourn Quest Antarctica voyage in February of 2014.We boarded our ship in Santiago, Chile, on a balmy 82 degree day and off we sailed to the land of penguins, icebergs and pristine environments.....the 82 degree weather, along with civilization, was soon far behind us! Antarctica is truly awe-inspiring...without any towns, cities or settlements; nature is free to play the star-ring role in this beautiful land at the bottom of the world. We spent 5 days actually on the continent of Antarctica and each day was another amazing experience. The Seabourn crew and staff did a superb job of moving us from the ship into rubber zodiacs, and then onto whatever landing area the weather had cleared for us. We were outfi tted with our parkas, knee high boots, waterproof pants and assorted layers to keep all of our body parts warm and cozy. We were never cold on the icy continent and were able to walk and explore with ease. Thousands of pen-guins were waiting for us. We were not per-mitted to approach them, but no one had told the penguins about that rule. They were inquisitive and fearless, a continual delight to all of us. We were almost within touch-ing distance of huge whales that breached right near our zodiacs and played with us, diving and surfacing as if performing for an audience. Bird life and seals were all around us, and the icebergs were beyond imagina-tion....beautiful, colorful and pristine. Re-turning to the ship, the staff again was avail-able to assist us in peeling off all of our gear, and we were treated to hot chocolate, cham-pagne, waffl e sticks and tender, loving care. The destination staff was incredible and we interacted with them throughout the cruise. The lectures, fi lms and conversations added a great deal to an already great experience. The captain even performed a wedding on one of our Antarctic landing sites for a cou-ple who were part of our destination team. The bride wore a veil with her parka and the captain brought champagne! Our return to Buenos Aires to disembark, after a stop in Stanley, in the Falkland Islands, was very tame as we were all Seabourn adventurers by that time. If you do have the opportu-nity to experience this voyage...run don't walk, it is a unique and very special experi-ence, and one you will remember forever.

My husband and I have always wanted to visit Boston. This city is considered to be a very European city, so we decided to see it on our own. I did lots of research of the most interesting places to visit, historical, cultural sites and “must see” sites. We were well prepared. It took approximately 20 minutes to get from the air-port to the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel by taxi. From the hotel you can walk everywhere and all the main sites are really close to Copley Plaza. The hotel was built in 1912 and renovated in 2012. You can see the amazing original ceiling and décor. Because we were here before December, the hotel was beautifully deco-rated: there were scented candles everywhere; a huge, Christmas tree was in the main hall, lots of bows and wreaths. The Fairmont has 4 fl oors and the 5th fl oor is where you can fi nd the fi tness center and SPA. The fi tness center has different equipment and you will have a nice panoramic view of the city. We had a spacious room, walk in closet, coffee table, fl at screen TV, beautiful bath and shower and of course a nice view of Copley Plaza, National Library and Trinity Church. If you need Internet, be ready to pay extra for Wi-Fi. I suggest booking a Deluxe Suite with the view or Theme Suite, because these rooms are more spacious. If you get hungry you can eat in a beautiful and very cozy restaurant, which is located on the fi rst fl oor. Spend one of the evenings near a fi replace with a glass of wine or champagne, with beautiful music, and a warm atmosphere. I was surprised to fi nd that Fairmont has their own beehives. Honey that is supplied by their own bees is used at the restaurant during preparations of diverse dishes. If you are celebrating a special occasion, you can rent a beautiful ballroom. We went into the city and spent a little bit of time exploring these beautiful, clean and narrow streets. You don’t need to have a car, you can walk everywhere you like or simply use public transportation, or rent a bicycle. If you would like to see all the main historical sites, walk the Freedom Trail. If you are interested in marine life, you will fi nd a lot of interesting information in the Boston Aquarium. I think everybody knows that Boston has one of the biggest Irish communities in the United States. There are many museums and historical sites throughout the city, great parks with small ponds, an ice ring in the winter time, funny sculptures or serious monuments. Don’t forget to take a picture with the famous bronze statue of the ducklings. I loved Boston, its history and charm. You can only understand a city if you try the local cuisine, walk the roads and visit historical sites, because only through the his-tory and local traditions will you truly understand the spirit of the place you visit.-Natallia KhoschynkaLuxury Travel Advisor

Why do you travel?

In January 2014, Dr. Norman Grover and Dr. Gary Flax did a "second chapter" trip to Myanmar. Having seen the usual sites of Myanmar, this trip went to off the beaten track to locales in the western, northern and southern areas of the country......sailing down the upper Irrawaddy River from near the Chinese border in an all teak boat with 10 passengers; visiting the tattooed faced women of a Chin village in the far west near the Bangladesh border; and visiting the Golden Rock Pagoda in the southern state of Kayin. Great to see before mass tourism hits the country.

Do you love playing Bocce Ball?

Throwing balls toward a target is the oldest game known to man-kind. As early as 5000 B.C. the Egyptians played a form of bocce with polished rocks. While bocce today looks quite different from its early predeces-

sors, the unbroken thread of bocce’s lineage is the consistently common objective of try-ing to come as close to a fi xed target as pos-sible. From this early objective, the basic rules of bocce were born. From Egypt the game made its way to Greece around 800 B.C. The Romans learned the game from the Greeks, then introduced it throughout the empire. The Roman infl uence in bocce is preserved in the game’s name; bocce de-rives from the Vulgate Latin bottia, meaning boss. Mario Pagnoni, who wrote “The Joy of Bocce”, is hosting a cruise on Celebrity Cruises November 8, 2014, sailing 7 nights, roundtrip from Miami to the Western Ca-ribbean. Ports of call include Cozumel, Mex-ico-George Town, Grand Cayman-Montego Bay, Jamaica,- and Labadee, Haiti. The Celebrity Cruises ship Refl ection, has a large lawn area, unique to the cruise indus-try, where Bocce tournaments will be held during the cruise. Guests from around the country, those lovers of Bocce Ball, will be joining Mario on this fun fi lled cruise, and you can too! Contact Caroline Choos, at [email protected], or 413-301-5166 to

The ASTA Destination Meeting was recent-ly held in Merida, Mexico and Cathie Inman and I attended. We enjoyed being educated on the wonderful people and features of this area of the Yucatan Peninsula. This was a learning experience about the intriguing Mayan culture and their history. A semi-nar on the Hacienda program explained this interesting type of lodging - similar to a shared or private villa in other countries. We had the privilege of visiting Hacienda Petac – an amazing 7 bedroom hacienda build in the 17th century upon the remains of a Mayan site, now for private use. It has been magnifi cently restored with exquisite details, complete with a private spa and at-tentive staff. A panel of visiting chefs gave us an amazing education on traditional Ma-yan (not Mexican) cuisine. Then, the full day tour to Chichenitza offered an insight into the true Mayan life so long ago. All in all this trip was a wonderful exposure to another world of travel experiences to offer clients seeking a nearby exotic destination.

Perry CampbellMy daughter and I loved Thailand! It's a magical place and we really appreciate your help putting it together. We traveled from Bangkok to Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai and then down to Phuket. Each area offered something different but nothing beats the Chiang Mai area as far as I'm concerned. We were able to experience and see incredible things like standing on the bridge over the River Kwai then driving on to Tiger Temple to play with full grown tigers. We found the secret to having a wonderful experience there is to book the VIP tour which lasts about 5 hours with few people and costs more but trust me when I say you will not be disap-pointed. We walked tigers on a leash, bathed tigers, fed tigers and played with tigers from 2 weeks old to adult. We rode elephants through tropical jungles and into rivers with Patara Elephant Farm. We each were assigned our own elephant for the day and learned all about them. Their program is the best and my daughter loved it. We have never been to a place where you can experience so much one on one time with all kinds of animals. From monkeys to snakes to butterfl ies to tigers! Thailand offers a wide variety of experiences like visiting the long neck people of the Karen Tribe or watching Buddhist monks pray at 1000 year old temples, fl oating down the river at the fl oating market where local people sell fruits and veg-etables. We went to a Thai boxing match, a lady boys show, and a cobra/snake show. We had 1 hour Thai massages that only cost $15.00! The smells, the sounds, the natural beauty, it's all there and the local people are some of the friendliest you'll fi nd. We will never forget our trip as it was the trip of a lifetime.
