POWER UP YOUR CURRICULUM Tue. & Wed. July 17 & 18 (2-day workshop) CSCOPE Technology Integration Academy (#TI120717-F01) CSCOPE users will become equipped to weave the new Technology Applications TEKS into the curriculum system to address Student Performance Indicators and lessons. Participants will become familiar with a wide variety of online resources including online databases, simulations and virtual labs; the use of interactive whiteboards; concept mapping and Web 2.0 tools; and assessments for student-created projects. Strategies to address the needs of the one or few computer classroom as well as the 1:1 student laptop environment will be discussed. Fee: $200

This workshop will present several free resources for teachers to continue to explore channels of communication, assessment and feedback through web-based tools. Fee: $50

(#TI120724-F01) Google Apps for Education offers a free, user-friendly set of customizable tools that enable teachers, administrators and students to create, collaborate, share and publish documents and projects. July 27 Free Web-Based Resources for ELAR and Social Studies Classrooms (#TI120727-F03) Online learning can sometimes fail to engage students who are used to highly stimulating online media such as YouTube and FaceBook. However there are many excellent free tools that can provide educators with access to engaging, exciting new environments for digital learning. This session will provide an opportunity to display useful free tools readily available for teachers to take advantage of in order to enrich the learning experience. Fee: $100

June 26 Collaboration in the GT Classroom (#TI120626-F01) Participants will become familiar with several free online tools that allow students to collaborate with peers and experts on classroom assignments. Tools will include blogs, wikis, collaborative documents, and educational social networking sites. Time will be given for participants to develop an activity to use in their own classroom. Thu. June 28 Wiki Web-Based Lessons in the GT Classroom (#TI120628-F01) Create a wiki (a collaborative web-page) to host a lesson for your students. Web-based lessons can be used to help students think deeply and creatively about classroom content. A wiki is an ideal tool for students because it allows them to easily access information online and share their findings with their peers. Each participant will create their own web-based lesson to use for an upcoming curriculum unit. Note: Six (6) GT hours will count toward 30-hour certification but not in lieu of Curriculum and Instruction - Day 3. These hours may also count as 6 GT hours for recertification. Mon. June 11 iPads Basics (#IT120611-F01) This is an introductory class on using an iPad for all things productive, learning and collaboration. In this class we will discuss basic operation features, finding useful apps and identifying helpful instructional strategies to use with iPads in the classroom. Tue. June 12 iPads and iMovie for Creating Video Projects (#TI120612-F01) iPads contain both a high definition camera and a powerful video editing system combining into one slim package. July 23 AM QR Codes in the Library (#DR120723-F01) Harness the power of QR (Quick Response) codes to disseminate information, enhance resources, and promote activities in the library and around the school. This workshop will cover: What are QR Codes?, What purpose do QR Codes serve?, How they are used in the library?, How to generate QR Codes?, and How to read them?. ADVANCED COURSES & CERTIFICATION Final Cut Pro X June 25-27 (#TI120625-F01) Aug. 1-3 (#TI120801-F01) This three-day hands-on course introduces students to the primary feature set and basic interface of Final Cut Pro. In this course, you learn to perform basic editing functions while familiarizing yourself with the Final Cut Pro interface. This class is designed for anyone looking to edit professional-quality video using Apple's innovative Final Cut Pro software. Understanding of the Macintosh OS and basic computer navigation is desired. Look forward to hands-on, interactive instruction designed to maximize your understanding of the full functionality of Final Cut Pro. July 17 Collaborize Classroom Certification: Discover the Advantages (#TI120717-F02) Budget cuts, larger class sizes, and higher teacher-to-student ratios require teachers to develop effective strategies to more deeply engage their students. Collaborize Classroom is an online discussion tool that can help to save time, cost, and increase student participation. Collaborize Classroom allows teachers to take their curriculum beyond the boundaries of the physical classroom to increase student participation and involvement. The Collaborize Classroom certification workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to successfully integrate online discussions into daily instruction and execute best practices of blended learning. Attending this session will help you become a distinguished Certified Collaborize Classroom Educator. Participants will receive 6 hours of CPE credit provided by ESC-20, then a certificate from Collaborize Classroom upon completion of a required assignment. Aug. 8-10 (Wed. thru Fri.) Google Certified Educator Preparation (#TI120808-F01) This 3-day session will provide training and support for participants wishing to apply for Google Certified Educator status. Attendees must have a basic understanding and/or experience using Google Apps. Each day will cover two separate apps with opportunities to take exams. There are a total of 6 exams you must pass before you can apply for certification status. Apps tested are Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sites, GApps admin, and other tools. ESC-20 will provide support and guidance, but only Google can approve you as a Google

Certified Educator. Participants are responsible for the $15 per exam fee, which is not included in registration fee. You may choose to take the exams during this session or at a later time. For more information please contact Adrian Gutierrez at [email protected] Fee: $300 ROBOTICS June 7-8 Robotics, GIS, GPS Train-the-Trainer Camp (#TI120607-F01) This is a 2-day train-the-trainer workshop for schools interested in offering robotics summer camps or robotics club for students. Participants completing this course will receive student workbooks, teacher activity guides, and online resources in a step-by-step curriculum. Combine robotics, GPS (Global Positioning Systems) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in a program that is challenging and fun! Learn activities to use with students like programming, geo-tracking, navigation and map making. The Lego Mindstorm Education NXT base kit & Garmin eTrex Legend H will be used during this training. CAREER & TECH EDUCATION Tue. June 5 Career Safe-OSHA Training (#CT120605-F01) Within the CareerSafe® Online presentation we will discuss the statistics of injuries faced by this demographic, the percentage of youth who are currently employed, and the level of safety training young workers are currently receiving through classroom instruction. The CareerSafe® Youth Safety Initiative strives to provide safety training for students nationwide per OSHA standards and regulations. Fee: $35; Free to CTE Coop and Perkins SSA members

Wed. June 6 AchieveTexas: Creating a Local College and Career Ready Culture (#CT120606-F01) Career and Technical Education plays an important role in creating a local culture of college and career readiness. This session will introduce the four dimensions of college and career readiness and specifically address the opportunities for CTE programs. Strategies to prepare students for the four dimensions will be shared. Additionally, a current goal of the AchieveTexas College and Career Initiative is to promote the integration of College and Career Readiness Standards in all CTE course standards. To enhance the integration, AchieveTexas is developing crosswalk documents illustrating the integration of the CCRS in CTE courses. The crosswalks will illustrate the importance of CTE in the integration of academics and career preparation skills in a way that the standards and skills can be applied to the real world. This session will conclude with highlights of the crosswalks and uses for instructional planning and professional development. Fee: $75; $35 for CTE Coop members; free to Perkins SSA members Thu. device. This workshop will cover basic instructional features on the iPad as well as Apps that may be useful to a wide variety of CTE students. June 12-14 NCCER Instructional Certification Training Program (#CT120612-F01) The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) offers certification training for CTE Educators to become an NCCER Certified Craft Instructor and for school campuses to become NCCER accredited training facilities. This 3-day training will assist CTE educators in understanding the national standards for offering NCCER certification to students, how to prepare your program, classroom/lab, and school/campus to successfully offer NCCER certification opportunities for career and technology education students, and how to successfully connect with business partners; a required element of the NCCER facilities accreditation process. Upon successful completion of this training program, participants will be NCCER certified and well on their way to having their facilities NCCER accredited. This training is particularly targeted toward CTE Agricultural Science teachers and CTE Trade and Industrial Educators, but other interested CTE educators are welcome to participate. Tue. July 10 Advanced Technical Training (ATC) Workshop for all CTE Clusters (#CT120710-F01) The Advanced Technical Credit (ATC) Program gives high school students a chance to receive credit at participating community colleges across Texas for taking certain enhanced technical courses during high school. The statewide articulated courses and their equivalent college courses are listed in the ATC Course Crosswalk. All the participating community colleges have agreed to offer students credit for these courses, provided the college offers the course and the student meets certain criteria. For a high school to offer an ATC course to its students, the teacher of the course must meet the ATC teacher

requirements, go through ATC training and teach the high school course so that it is enhanced to meet the content of the equivalent college course. ATC courses are only offered in technical or workforce areas - courses in academic areas such as English or history are not offered as ATC courses.
