Summary Report on World Space Week Celebrations 2019

World Space Week (WSW) is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the

betterment of the human condition. The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1999 that World Space

Week will be held each year from October 4-10. These dates commemorate two events:October 4, 1957: Launch of

the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, thus opening the way for space explorationOctober 10, 1967: The

signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activites of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer

Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies.

Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) a Statutory body of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) celebrated

the “World Space Week 2019” during 9th

to 10th

October 2019 at Mylavaram with the collaboration of the

Lakireddy Bali Reddy College of Engineering, Mylavaram. Through the celebrations it was planned to propagate

the benefits of Indian Space Program to the majority of Scientific, Academic and General Public and to spread the

awareness about the space technology that will simulate the young minds and reap benefits for future generations.
