Mauro and Daniela are the descendants of farming and wine making families from La Morra and Monforte. The history of the Veglio's is long in the Langhe, and like most families in the region they started out as a “contadini”, or farmers, who sold their grapes to the local cooperative. The continuation of this was unsatisfactory to Mauro and Daniela, as quality was more important than quantity.

Under the guidance and encouragement from the Veglio’s neighbour and friend Elio Altare, Mauro soon gained confidence and began to bottle his production starting with a Barbera. In the meantime, Elio was becoming famous (Gambero Rosso 2005 Wine Grower of the Year) and so were the Arborina vineyards, noted for their elegance and perfume. Their first Barolo 1992 was released in 1996. Organic viticulture is practiced with minimal or no chemicals used in winemaking. Today annual production totals 5000 cases with wines ranging from Barbera, Dolcetto, Barolos and a special red blend called L’Insieme, where proceeds are donated various social causes. Mauro's wines are consistently rated alongside the best of his peers. The wines have received excellent ratings by Stephen Tanzer, Rorbert Parker, Gambero Rosso, Decanter and Wine Spectator. www.mauroveglio.com

Mauro Veglio Barolo DOCG 2009

Veglio’s 2009 Barolo is especially ripe, deep and fleshy in this vintage. Juicy dark cherries, flowers, mint and cloves meld together in the glass. This attractive, open-knit Barolo is an excellent choice for drinking over the next handful of years. All the elements are in the right place. The 2009 is an overachiever in its category. I see it as an excellent restaurant wine or by the glass Barolo. Anticipated maturity 2013 – 2017

93 Points Robert Parker (Apr 2012) - The 2008

Barolo Castelletto is the biggest and richest of these wines. It shows plenty of Monforte character, with layers of mint, menthol, spice, eucalyptus and dark red fruit. The tannins are firm yet there is plenty of muscle in the fruit to provide balance. Layers of fruit build beautifully to the insistent, focused finish. Barolo DOCG 2006 “Vigneto Gattera” The Gattera vineyard holds Mauro's oldest vines, which were planted in 1952. Between the 4 Crus of Mauro Veglio, Gattera produces "Classic" Barolo: in the beginning it is evolved and warm with aromas of sun dried peaches and apricots with warm tannins that are decisive, but not aggressive. These dry characteristics come from the south, south-western exposition of the vineyards.

90 Points Robert Parker (Feb 2010) – “The 2006

Barolo Gattera shows a touch more warmth, openness and stuffing than the Arborina. Fragrant red fruits caress the palate, while sweet spices add complexity on the long finish. This is a beautifully balanced, mid-weight Barolo from Mauro Veglio. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2021.”

Gianfranco Alessandria took over managing his family's farm in 1986, after the passing of his father. He continued the practice of selling the grapes from the 5.5 hectares of vine yard land his father had amassed. At the end of the 80's at the urging of his cousin, Mauro Veglio, he began to bottle small portions of his wine.

He produces stunning wines of great integrity - high quality, full bodied and powerful yet refined. Never resting on his laurels, he strives to improve the quality each year. Gianfranco’s first Barolo was produced in 1993 which was awarded “Three Glasses” by Gambero Rosso. Since 1997, Gambero Rosso has awarded his top cru “San Giovanni” three glasses. All his wines have also received tremendous ratings from Wine Spectator, Decanter and Stephen Tanzer.

The vineyard is situated favorably right across from Bussia, an area renowned for Barolo wine production. Annual production is approximately 4000 cases. The winery produces a range of wines from Barbera to a red blend called L’Insieme which a portion of the proceeds from this wine are put into a fund from which donations are made each year to a worthy cause. www.gianfrancoalessandria.com

pine and smoke are some of the nuances that emerge from the 2008 Barolo San Giovanni. This is a relatively open, accessible vintage for the San Giovanni. Located in the heart of Prosecco production, Valdobbiadene in the Veneto region, the Adami Family has been producing consistent, high quality prosecci since the turn of the century. Solid roots of effort and tradition have given the life blood to a plant exuberant and full of fruit. Following grandfather Abele and father Adriano, the youngest generation, Armando and Franco, both of whom graduated in Oenology, have brought to the house of Adami refined technological specialization in the art of producing the fine spumante wines typical of Valdobbiadene.

In addition, accurate administration and efficient commercial organization enable to call upon the most prestigious specialists in Italy and abroad. This is how the family expresses the values of their land: sound work, harmony and respect for human relationships, a sense of hospitality, and continuity between past and present. Cartizze Dry NV - Valdobbaidene DOCG Prosecco Superiore

The Cartizze is truly the imitable embodiment of life’s beautiful moments. The growing area consists of 106 hectares between the steepest hill of S. Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol in the commune of Valdobiadene. The name “Cartizze” is derived from “gardize”, “gardizze” according to history, named after a medieval Spanish knight of fortune who retired into these hills after his years of battle.

The grapes from this region are harvested late when the berries shows the first sign of natural shriveling. It also has the highest sugar level of 24 – 32 g/l of all the Proseccos.

A celebrated "cru" of the Valdobbiadene hills, superbly and with innumerable facets, underlines the qualities of Prosecco. The fine and persistent bubbles elevate its clean and characteristic fragrance. The taste, elegant and sweet accompanies dry cakes well and is an ideal conclusion to a refined meal.

91 Points - Robert Parker (Aug. 2010) – “Adami’s

NV Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Dry Superiore Cartizze is a special wine, no doubt about it. Intensely fragrant pears, apples, orange peel and spices emerge from the glass with remarkable richness, complexity and sheer purity. This is one the finest Proseccos on the market.

This family winery was founded in 1925 by Amadio Fasoli, who planted vines and began

making and selling wine to the best taverns in cities surrounding the farm in Verona.

The tradition continues today with the Fasoli brothers Amadio-Franco and Natalino, producing

award winning wines from their certified organic vineyards. Their first foray into organic

cultivation came in 1980 and since 1984 all of their vineyards have become organic. In 1990

they were certified A.I.A.B approved.

Currently there are 40 hectares under vine producing 300,000 bottles of wines under the Fasoli Gino brand. The vineyards are situated in the lower Illasi valley near San Zeno di Colognola ai Colli and Illasi outside the city of Verona. These areas have a strong tradition of viticulture because of the nature of the land (partly clay and partly a mix of stones and sand) and the favourable microclimate: the wide, sunny valley is protected from the north by the Lessini Hills. The estate pays great attention to the quality of the grapes, cellar work and focuses on wines form the Soave and Valpolicella designations.

Highly regarded for their white wines, the estate also produces Amarone, red wines from international varietals, grappe and olive oil from the Lake Garda area. www.fasoligino.com

Corte del Pozzo is the new range of quality wines made by the Fasoli Gino Estate. The symbol they have chosen to represent this range is the old well that is situated in the heart of their courtyard. Built sometime between the 18th and 19th centuries they thought the well was particularly appropriate for two reasons. Firstly, it symbolizes the sharing of the harvest, secondly, the well has been a focal point for the community, a place where people came together to share the best water source. The Corte del Pozzo range has been created to meet increased demand with the organic grapes being sourced externally. They have chosen to work only with those vineyard owners with whom they have been working for many years, knowing people, microclimate, ground and grapes. Since the grapes come from different areas of Veneto, they have their own different characteristics and this gives them the possibility to produce expressive, typical wines of the area.

A family run affair since inception, Viviani wines are made with the utmost thought for tradition. At the helm, is the passionate and energetic Claudio and with his wife Sandra who handles the administration and export markets. It was 1992, when Claudio bottled his family’s wines instead of selling them bulk. In 20 years, they

are among the leading producers from the Mazzano appellation. The wines are highly sought after by wine enthusiasts, served by the best restaurants worldwide and have received critical acclaim from wine journalists. A recipient of numerous “Tre Bicherri” (3 glasses) awards, their Amarone wines are a jewel amongst the World of Amarone – rich, sumptuous, opulent with elegance, freshness and sophistication.

The vineyards are located on the highest hillside hamlet of Mazzano – about 350 – 450M above the valley floor, a municipality of Negrar in the historic Valpolicella Classico zone. Claudio Viviani and the generations of Vivianis before them have spent many challenging hours planting, pruning and toiling in their vineyards. The area is well ventilated with low humidity favored for drying the grapes to produce Recioto and Amarone wines. Gambero Rosso has noted that Mazzano is an extremely fine wine territory and compares it to a “Premiere Cru” status as a hypothetical classification of Valpolicella.

The Viviani Family’s aim is to express the full potential of their property by employing sustainable viticultural practices by phasing out of synthetic treatments for the vines. Currently 10 hectares are farmed with an estimated annual wine production of 80,000 bottles. Three levels of Valpolicelle, 2 Amarone and a Recioto are produced.

"Claudio Viviani is one of the great Valpolicella growers. His wines are consistently high in quality, thanks to his hard work and sincere enthusiasm. . – Gambero Rosso

Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC 2008 – “Campo Morar” A lively and intense wine, brooding and a little closed at first before aeration reveals explosive flavours. A single vineyard Classico Superiore aged in 50% new oak barriques. The Superiore is somewhere between Valpolicella and Amarone in style, made from partially dried grapes, aired in the Viviani’s windy storage house for one month (as opposed to three for Amarone). The first Valpolicella Classico to receive 3 glass award from Gambero Rosso for the Mazzano appellation.

Its colour is deep, intense. Layers of delicate cassis, blackberry and cherry give way to the rich intensity of blueberry and blackcurrant. Pleasant floral hints add finesse to the aromatic bouquet, with reminiscent of tobacco and hazelnut. On the palate it is very well rounded and lingering, with velvety tannins that emerge smoothly on the finish. A great Valpolicella, a pure expression of its noble terroir. 670 cases produced

Fine notes of eucalyptus, toffee, liquorice and chocolate chips follow straight after. On the palate the rich and noble flavour of chocolate fades into the velvety texture of mocha. Bacci Wine Estates are producers of world class Italian wines from Tuscany. In 1983, the first estate – Castello di Bossi was purchased as an investment and a side business by Marco Bacci & his Family, a textile and clothing manufacturer in Florence. With a dream of owning the best 3 appellations in Tuscany and a passion to produce world class Tuscan wines, Marco’s dedication and love to Tuscany prompted him to devote full time to the business of wine 1995. Today, wine is produced from the family’s 4 estates in Tuscany: Terre di Talamo in Maremma, Castello di Bossi & Tenuta di Renieri in Castelnuovo Berardenga, Siena and Renieri in

Montalcino. All the estates embrace modern technology, while at the same time respecting the traditional character of the lands of Tuscany. Although not certified yet, organic viticulture is practiced with the latest development of solar power usage for the winery. We will continue see exciting wines coming from these estates as Marco along with his consulting winemaker Alberto Antonini (one of Wine Spectator’s top 4 Consulting Winemaker and formerly with Antinori) are committed to produce world class wines. www.bacciwines.com Decanter Magazine

named this family winery as one of Italy’s 10 most exciting producers back in May 2003.

CASTELLO di BOSSI is located in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, on the road that leaves the old Chiantigiana road, at Pianella, and ascends to Brolio amidst evergreen forests and long rows of vines. It has a rich history dating back to the 9

th

century, with the Piccolomini Family from Siena as the last owners of the estate before the Bacci Family acquire it in 1983.

The name Bossi would seem to derive from the money chest which the Roman army would carry to its encampments to pay the soldiers; the word probably refers to the boxwood, a rare and prized wood at that time, from which the chest was built.

The estate covers 650 a hectare of which 124 is dedicated to Sangiovese vines, the main grape of Chianti Classico. There is a small portion of Cabernet and Merlot vines that were planted over 40 years ago. Their first wine, a Super Tuscan blend Corbaia (sangiovese/cabernet blend) was bottled in 1985. With classy style and a thousand years of history, Castello di Bossi crafts elegant yet powerful wines with unmistakable Tuscan character.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Production Method: The olives are harvest by hand, between November and December. After 12 hours after the harvest, the olives are pressed with a cold stone press at local olive mill. Tasting Notes: A blend of Frantoiano, Moriolo, Leccino & Pendolino olives provides a vibrant, rich green hue precedes a refreshingly crisp nose with generous fruit alongside more nuanced vegetal aromas, among which artichoke emerges clearly. The palate is supple and elegant, ending in a succulent, nicely piquant finish with excellent length.

The Bacci Family’s third estate TERRE DI TALAMO was acquired in 2000 is located in the southern part of Tuscany’s Maremma coastal area, facing the Argentario gulf. The winery itself covers 52 hectares of hill slope, with 32 planted to vineyards. In addition to Sangiovese, other varieties are cultivated

as well, in order to produce Morellino di Scansano and other wines: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Alicante, Vermentino, and Viognier. The wide range of soil types at Terre di Talamo has led to its being dubbed “minestrone soil” as it ranges with surface layers of well-drain rock, limestone and sandstone followed by abundant clay soils about one and half metres deep. The clay component keeps the soil cool and holds water reserves that ensure sound health of the grapes during the hot summers that are typical to this area. The vine roots transmit these complex characteristics in the soil to the wine, so that the wines produced at Terre di Talamo are notable for their slaty mineral notes and for a perfect balance between acid and alcohol.

Renieri is a stunning and beautiful winery estate in Montalcino owned by the Bacci Family. Located on the northeast quadrant of Montalcino, facing Mt. Amiata, the estate comprises of 128 acres of which 30 acres are under vine at the elevation of 350 – 420 metres. Yields are 1 kg per vine, equivalent of 1 bottle of wine. Nearby vineyards include Biondi Santi and Caparzo.

The soils at Renieri estate are predominately volcanic, with calcareous soils and stone interfigured with red clay and tuffs. The predominant varietal is, of course, Sangiovese. Other varietals include syrah, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and petit verdot. The Renieri home is a typical country farm house made of stones, and dates to the 1700s, while the winery, which extends over about 1000 square metres is almost entirely below ground.

The single fallen tree on labels for wines from this estate serves as a reminder of a tornado that ripped through Montalcino in 2002.

At the head of the Il Palazzone Estate is former Citi Group CEO and Chairman Dick Parsons; this high-powered businessman bought this estate when his wife suggested that a hobby would outside of work would do him some good. A passionate wine lover, Parsons loyally participates in the production of his wine at every stage despite a demanding business agenda. Working with famed oeneologist, Paolo Vagaggini (Ciacci Piccolomini, Nardi, Uccelliera), the wines have received critical acclaim from the wine community. Located on the western side of Montalcino, the estate is quite high in terms of altitude - roughly 480 meters above sea level. This altitude ensures excellent ventilation which is salutary for grapes, as it reduces mold production to a bare minimum. The constant action of the wind combined with the characteristics of the soil on the western side of Montalcino rein-

forces the character of the elegant wines produced by the estate. The vines themselves are over twenty years old and have therefore grown long root systems making them more resilient during periods of drought. These deep roots are able to reach minerals and components that are not present in the top soils and enrich the taste and aromas of the wines

Il Palazzone, or "The Big Palace" is a small, environmentally engaged estate that has been producing wine for over ten years. While the estate is roughly 20 acres, the land authorized for the production of Brunello di Montalcino is a mere 10 acres which end result is approximately 12,000 bottles per year and 700 bottles of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Currently state of the art winery building is under construction that will be powered by solar. Il Palazzone also engages itself actively in social media to connect and inform Il Palazzone wine lovers. Tweets are sent by Laura Gray, Estate Manager. www.ilpalazzone.com

Rosso del Palazzone Vino Rosso (VR) Year after year a small quantity of potential Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is left in the cellar. In 2007 they decided to blend this “loose” wine and make a Vino Rosso. Since it derives from several vintages, it has no vintage on the label. Rosso del Palazzone is made from 100% Sangiovese, grown on the slopes of Montalcino and is made entirely from the property’s own grapes. The wines have all spent over a year in large wood barrels. The result is a “baby” Brunello, with all the characteristics of Montalcino and Sangiovese, but with the fruit, freshness and approachability of a Rosso di Montalcino. This is a blend of 2007/08/09 vintage.

Tasting Notes:. This versatile wine is an excellent wine “a tutto pasto” i.e. suited to all courses, in particular vegetable soups, cheese and first and second courses featuring red meat. It has a remarkable price:quality ratio.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil IGP Toscana Il Palazzone Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made exclusively with olives grown on the estate at 1,476-1,640 feet above sea level. Harvesting before the olives fully mature, generally mid-November, results in a smaller yield but higher quality oil. This process ensures the deep green color and magnificent artichoke bouquet of the oil.

During picking season the day's harvest is taken to the press each evening, where the olives are cold pressed. Il Palazzone works with the prestigious award-winning press, Frantoio Franci. The olive oil is filtered by gravity through natural cotton before being bottled. Approximately 700 bottles are produced each year.

Indicazione Geografica Protetta means that the oil is guaranteed and government-certified as being entirely Tuscan in terms of quality and origin. The sticker on the neck of the bottle has a bottle specific code. To verify the traceability procedure, log on to http://www.oliotoscanoigp.it/ita/tracciabilita.html

Tasting Notes: A blend of Olivastra, Corregiolo, Leccino & Moriaolo olives. Deep green colour with golden hues. On the palate, it boasts a magnificent grassy artichoke bouquet, a light fruit flavour with gentle spicy notes and a

VIGNA FAVAZZA – Etna Rosso DOC 2010 Etna vineyards grow on sandy lands of volcanic origin, rich of skeleton, in which the plants sink their roots for many meters nourishing themselves with micro-elements, important for the complexity and flavour of the wine. It is a wine produced by pure grapes of Nerello Mascalese, cultivated in an old vineyard at “alberello” in Feudo di Mezzo between the centres of Solicchiata and Randazzo with an average age of 80 years. There the vineyards grow with a slow maturation, allowing the production of wines unbelievably elegant, that combine delicacy, austerity and wideness.

TASTING NOTES Sweet candied cherries; flowers and spices flow effortlessly from this mid-weight, ethereal wine. This offers superb balance in an understated and totally compelling style. Sweet notes of mint and herbs reappear on the finish, adding a further layer of complexity. 300 cases made

ALMA3 ROSSO Toscana IGT 2008 A new direction in Super Tuscan wines where no international grape varietal is added to the blend, only indigenous varietal. These grapes are cultivated in a vineyard in the west area of the province, on a clayey, ferrous and calcareous land, rich of skeleton and characterised by a particular morphological composition, in a typical Mediterranean climate with a great exposure to the Arno river valley.

TASTING NOTES Alma3 is a modern wine, with an aroma and taste typical of this land. Great personality where the vivacity of the Sangiovese is married with the fruit and the juiciness of the Montepulciano. Colorino completed the bouquet, giving aroma's complexity and color deepness of the wine.

About Vendemmia Group Inc.

Aiming to provide the most amazing wine experiences, we are purveyors of fine boutique wineries focusing mainly on small award winning producers from Italy. Captivated by regional epicurean delights and culture together with a palate of fascinating grape varietals, these wineries provide products of high quality and outstanding value, wines of balance and integrity, wines that have something interesting to say about their provenance.

Since our wineries that we represent tend to be small and usually family affairs, sustainable or organic viticulture is utilized, not because it is the latest fashion, but rather because that is how the best wine is often made. The results show in the bottle, over and over again.

Our wines are available at private wine stores, selected BCLDB Signature stores and fine restaurants in British Columbia.
