What is it ??

• The Sugar Learning Platform is a computer environment composed of Activities designed to help children from 5 to 12 years of age learn together through rich-media expression.

• Sugar is the core component to provide every child with the opportunity for a quality education.

• It is currently used by nearly one-million children. • Sugar provides the means to help people lead fulfilling lives

through access to a quality education that is currently missed by so many.

How is it used ?

It is been done by the use of USB stick which is having the os , now the sugar on a stick can be used on any computer. Sugar on a Stick starts up where you can boot any computer from a flash drive with the Sugar OS, and have an exploratory operating system.

Why to use it ?

• Hundreds of tools for discovery through exploring, expressing, and sharing: browsing, writing, etc.

• A discoverable learning platform: it uses simple means to reach to complex ends.

• An emphasis on learning through doing and debugging.• Built-in collaboration system: peer-to-peer learning; always-on

support; and single-click sharing.

why should we apply it to SPSU?• As it is having the facilities of sharing so everyone can write,

share by single click.• Automatic backup of data so no need to specify for backup

again & again.• The Journal is a built-in portfolio assessment tool that serves

as a forum for discussion between children, parents, and teachers.

• Engages both teachers and students: empowering them with both the freedom to act and the freedom to be critical. Criticism of ideas is a powerful force in learning . Sugar provides a way for teachers and students to share.

Sugar OS @ SPSU• It could help in getting the quality education.• As it is portable so One's Sugar environment saved Activities are

available wherever one has access to suitable computing devices at library.

• According to our need at SPSU we can build our own sugar OS so to fit our needs.

• Sugar OS is easy to deploy and could be easily deployed in our computer labs.

• children will learn as a group, not as a collection of individuals.

How will we implement it• We can implement it by the use of USB stick having the OS ,

and we can use it on all computer so it provides easy user interface to users.

• The implementation at SPSU will help us to closely monitor the student performance.

• As it does not need much memory space i.e it can be installed on PC’s using a USB stick so it is very economical too.
