  • Potential Health Effects:

Acute: Mechanical irritation of the skin, eyes and upper respiratory system.

Carcinogenicity: This product contains respirable glass wool fibers which are classified by IARC in 10/2001 as group 3 (not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans) and by NTP as group IIB (reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen). Fiber glass wool has not been classified by OSHA.

SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES Inhalation: If inhaled remove individual to fresh air. Drink water to clear throat and blow nose to evacuate dust. If coughing and irritation develop, call a physician.

Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with large quantity of water for at least 15 minutes. See a physician if irritation persists.

Skin Contact: Wash with mild soap and warm water after each exposure. To avoid additional irritation, do not rub or scratch affected areas.

Ingestion: Emergency procedures not normally required. May be a temporary irritant to the GI system.

SECTION 5 - FIREFIGHTING MEASURES NFPA Rating: Health: 1 Fire: 0 Reactivity: 0 Other: 0

    Flash Point: None

    Flash Point method: Not applicable

    Upper Flammable Limit: Not applicable

    Lower Flammable Limit: Not applicable

Fire Hazards: Potential for fire or explosion none.

Extinguishing Method: Use water, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Special Firefighting Procedures: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing. Dense smoke may limit visibility in enclosed areas.

Fire or explosion Hazards: Resin, paper or plastic facings will burn causing dense acrid smoke. In fire conditions, vinyl faced products give off hydrogen chloride, a highly irritating gas.

SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Clean-up Procedures: Pick up or shovel larger pieces of material into waste container taking care to minimize dust and fiber generation. Vacuum clean-up is preferred. If sweeping is required use a dust suppressant.

Personal Precautions: If dusty conditions exist, wear a facemask approved for use with dusts such as 3M 8210, N95 or equivalent.

Environmental Precautions: This product is not regulated under RCRA Hazardous Waste Regulations. May be disposed in landfill. Comply with all federal, state and local regulations.

  • SECTION 7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE Storage Requirements: Store in dry area protected from the elements. Vacuum nuisance dust. Use a dust suppressant if sweeping is necessary.

Special Sensitivity or Incompatibility: Hydrofluoric acid will react with and dissolve glass.

Handling Precautions: Assure proper respiratory protection if dust potential exceeds PEL/TLV.

SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION * Heat-Up Precautions: During initial heat-up of high temperature insulation products to temperatures above 350°F, an acrid odor and smoke may be given off. Adequate ventilation should be provided to protect against harmful fumes. In confined spaces, occupants should wear self-contained breathing apparatus during this period.

Engineering Controls: Maintain sufficient mechanical or natural ventilation to assure fiber concentrations remain below PEL/TLV. Use local exhaust if necessary. Power equipment should be equipped with properly designed dust collection devices.

Respiratory Protection: When over PEL/TLV wear an approved facemask such as 3M 8210, N95 or equivalent, to protect against respirable glass wool fibers. Concentrations of fibers that exceed the recommendations of the mask manufacturer will need a higher level of respiratory protection, such as a half mask respirator with appropriate dust filters.

Eye Protection: Wear safety glasses with side shields, goggles or face shield when working with raw fiberglass.

Skin Protection (clothing): Long-sleeved shirts, long pants and lose fitting clothes. Wash work clothes separate from other clothing.

SECTION 9 - PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES Physical Form: Yellow or amber fibrous product, slight phenol formaldehyde odor. Some products have vinyl, fabric, or foil.

Melting Point: >1300°F Specific Gravity: Variable

Solubility in Water (H20): Insoluble Pure/Mixture: Mixture

SECTION 10 - REACTIVITY Stability: This is a stable material.

    Conditions to Avoid: None

Hazardous Decomposition Products: Thermal decomposition of the resin may include carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, carbon particulate and traces of hydrogen cyanide.

  • SECTION 11 - TOXICOLOGICAL/ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION LD50: N/Av LC50: N/Av

Toxicological Hazards: See the Emergency overview on page 1, Section II.

Ecological Hazards: No data available for this product.

Teratogenicity, Mutagenicity, other Reproductive Effects: None known

  • KINETICSTM FLMLIFT SLAB FLOATING FLOOR ISOLATOR

DESCRIPTIONFLM Floor Lift Mount consists of a resilient decoupler, cast housing, and leveling bolt. The housing incor-porates two opposing side lugs for carrying concrete rebar. The leveling bolt is screwed into a threaded opening in order to lift or “jack-up” the concrete slab into final position i.e., floating the floor. Together with Perimeter Isolation Board (PIB), poly sheeting, and perimeter sealant, FLM becomes a complete floor isolation system.

    CREATE QUIET

KINETICSTM FLM offers designers a simple, adaptable tool for assuring high-quality noise control from the floating concrete floor.

APPLICATION Create any airspace between the isolated slab and the structural deck by simply changing the length of the leveling bolt. Additionally, the top of the casting may be extended with an adapter to allow for any thickness of floating concrete slab. High load areas are handled either by adding extra mounts or by us-ing higher capacity isolators. FLM mounts are laid out in accordance with submittal drawings provided by Kinetics.

FEATURES• STC 69/IIC 61 with 4" floating slab and 2" airspace over 6" concrete deck• Various load capacities offered in either fiberglass or rubber isolators• Easy to adapt for wide range of airspaces• Standard mounts available for 3" and 4" thick concrete slabs• Adapters available for thicker concrete slabs• Engineering assistance and submittal drawings offered• Factory installation and supervision available
