Chapter: 4( Linear Equations in Two Variables)
Assignments for the month of May
( 16th May to 31st May)
Instructions: 1. In the following attachments, solutions of chapter 4 ( NCERT)
are given. Complete the chapter in your class register.
2. After finishing NCERT, practice the Home Assignment (given in
the attachment) of this chapter in your homework copy.
Home Assignment: Chapter: 4
Linear Equation in two variables
Class: 9
1. Draw the graph of the equation , 2x-3y=6
2. Give the geometric representation of 2x-1=x-3 as an equation in i) One variable
ii) Two variable
3. Express the following linear equation in the form of ax + by +c =0 and indicate the values of a, b, and c : x=4y+7
4. Write any four solutions of the linear equation x=2y-4
5. Give the equations of 4 straight lines passing through the point ( 2, 3)
6. Draw the graphs of equations 3x-2y=4 and 2x+3y=6 in the same graph and find the coordinates of the point where two lines
intersect.
7. If the line 2x+ k y = 5 passes through the point ( -2, 1)
Find k.
8. Is (2, ½) a solution of linear equation x=4y? Justify.
9. ( 0,-3) and ( 4, 0) are solutions of linear equation:
a) 3x+4y=12
b) 4x-3y=12
c) 4x-3y=12
d) 3x-4y=12
10. Represent the following situations in the form of a linear equation in two variables:---
a) Weight of a table is two and half times the weight of a chair.
b) Displacement of a body is equal to the product of time and velocity of the body. [Take velocity as constant (10
units) and displacement and time as variables ] c) A part of monthly expenses of a family on milk is fixed i.e. Rs/- 700 and remaining varies with quality of extra milk
taken at the rate of Rs/- 25 per litre. (Take extra milk as x litre and total expenditure on milk as Rs/- y).
11. Write a linear equation representing a line which is
a) Parallel to y axis and is at a distance of 2 units on the positive side of x axis.
b) Parallel to x axis and is at a distance of 3 units above the x axis.
12. 2y=3 expressed as linear equation in two variables is :-
a) X+ 2y=3
b) X+2y+3=0
c) 0x+2y-3=0
d) 0x+2y= -3
13. Draw the graph of linear equation 4x-3y+12=0.
Also find the area of the triangle formed by the line and the coordinate axes.
