Style ConverterAccuMark V8.1.2

Changes have been made to the Style Converter to make it easier to correct the

pieces that have errors during conversion. Styles with warnings or errors can beautomatically saved to a new folder during conversion. In addition, a csv file withall of the errors and warnings can be generated.

A new button, Inspection Options, has been added to the Style Converter. TheInspection Options button displays a dialog with options to save the styles thatgenerate warning or error messages during the conversion process or the gradecomparison process. When these options are enabled, the styles areautomatically saved to folders in C:\ads. If these folders do not exist, they are

created automatically by the system.

When the Inspection Options are enabled,after the conversion ends a dialog displayswith the summary information. The systemprompts whether or not to save the pieces.When OK is selected, the styles are copiedinto the paths specified in the dialog.

After the conversion is run initially, thesefolders can be renamed to \ads\styldir and the

conversion can be run on only the problemstyles. The resulting csv file will then onlycontain information on the problem styles.

If there are a large number of styles to convert (more than 2,000), it is helpful touse wildcards and convert the styles in groups, rather than all at one time. Inaddition, if the converted styles result in more than approximately 25,000 pieces,MSDE or SQL should be used for the storage of the AccuMark data.

After the system copies the styles to the folders, the Results dialog displays.Selecting the Report Results button displays the csv file in the applicationconfigured to display that type of file, for example Microsoft Excel. This allowssaving the information for use at a later date. If there are a large number of

styles being converted, it may take several minutes for each of the steps tooccur.

Using the sort option in Excel, the reports can be sorted to group styles with thesame error. These styles can then be corrected as a group. The followingsection of this document explains how to correct styles depending on what erroris given.

Errors Reported by Style Converter

When running the Style Converter, error conditions may be found that requireediting of the style files. The errors relate to missing or changed data, or datathat is not supported by the AccuMark. Warnings may also be given to simplynotify that a piece of information may have changed during conversion, such asthe Piece Description being truncated.

Below is a list of potential errors and the steps that can be taken to correct thevarious problems. Some corrections can be done in the AccuMark or MicroMarkand some must be done in the MicroMark prior to conversion.

Intersection error while grading piece xxx

Intersection errors can display as an Error Message or a Grade Checker Error.Intersection errors can exist on the basesize or on graded sizes. They can becaused by problems in the conversion, orby incorrect data. In either case, thepiece should be brought into PDS to becorrected.

If the error is for the base size, the piecemay need to be traced, or some otheraction performed to correct a flaw in theperimeter. If the error is on a gradedsize, grade rules may need to be editedor changed to correct the problem.

Piece modification has invalidated a corner angle

Seam allowance corners are created by the system using the shape of the piece.Occasionally the shape of a piece cannot be used to create a seam corner type

that has been previously assigned to a point. It could be that the shape haschanged, and that corner type can no longer be created, or, that the AccuMarkdoes not create the corner in the same way as the MicroMark. In either case thepiece should be brought into PDS and the missing corner type reapplied or thepiece shape edited and the piece saved. In the picture below, the piece receivedan error because the AccuMark could not create corner successfully.

Unable to store, 2 F points required

Occasionally MicroMarkpieces have 2 Grain lines.The error, Unable to

store, 2 F points requiredis given in this case. Tocorrect this problem, oneof the Grain Lines shouldbe removed from thepiece in MicroMark PDSbefore converting.

Failed MicroMark grading

The Failed MicroMark grading displays if Update has not been performed onthe styldir or gdrldir folders. If this error occurs run Update on styldir or gdrldirand re-convert the styles. If Update has been performed, there may be a missinggrade rule referred to in the rule table, or the rule table may be corrupt.

Invalid matching lines

The AccuMark requires that thematching lines are parallel or

perpendicular to either the G0 line orthe F line (line with 2 F attributesassigned). In the example picture tothe left, matching line 1 is not parallelor perpendicular to the grain line, GO(line with arrow symbol).

Rule Table missingWithout the rule table, the conversion cannot create new grade rules for theconverted AccuMark pieces. If this error is received, simply located the rule tableand copy it to the \ads\gdrldir folder. If the rule table does not exist as aMicroMark file, change the rule table referenced by the style to an existing table.

MicroMark sizes missingVariation sizes are not currently supported in the Style Converter. If the error,MicroMark sizes missing is given, then a synonym table is referenced by thestyle. To correct this problem, the synonym table can be removed from the Style

Description, or the synonym table can be edited to include only the altered sizename, size name and 0.

Missing OPP Grade Axis

Some grade points on MicroMark data may have an OPP attribute. This requiresan OPP Grade Axis. If grade rules have an OPP and no OPP Grade Axis isdefined, the error Missing OPP Grade Axis is given. The piece can becorrected in the MicroMark before conversion, or in the AccuMark afterconversion.

Cannot find rule 1

Currently, pieces that have a 1 assigned to a point as a grade rule give theerror, Cannot find rule 1 during conversion. In this case, a different rule

number needs to be assigned to the point in MicroMark PDS. In the examplebelow, rule 404 is on the end of the shoulder line; however rule 1 is at thebeginning of the neckline. The piece does grade however in AccuMark PDS.

Warnings Reported by Style Converter

Piece was flipped, grain line realigned to maintain flip state

In the MicroMark, pieces can be saved in an orientation other than how the piecewas originally digitized. This can be seen in the MicroMark when tracking if theGrade Reference line tracks from right to left instead of left to right. To preservethe grading, the AccuMark G0 line is created in the same orientation as theGrade Reference line in the MicroMark. To preserve the orientation, the piecemay be flipped so that the orientation symbol (double arrow symbol) is not in itsinitialized position.

Piece with grain line converted to F Rotation will not rotate the same wayin AM marking as in MK marking

Piece message has been truncated

The Piece Message field in the MicroMark supports 32 characters. Whenconverting MicroMark data to AccuMark data, the information can be converted

to the Piece Category or Description field, depending on the preference setting inthe converter preferences. The Category and Description fields support 20characters; therefore any characters beyond 20 places are truncated.

Cut lines are not present in MicroMark piece. Sew perimeter is used forcomparison

If seam allowance was never defined on the MicroMark piece and the MasterBoundary is defined as the sew lines, the conversion will check for mismatchesby comparing the sew lines. In addition, the piece is saved with the sew lines as

the piece perimeter on the AccuMark.

Unavailable rules converted to 0 growth

If a MicroMark piece references a grade rule number that does not exist in thegrade rule table, the rule values are assigned 0.00 for the growth amounts. Thesame warning is displayed when the pieces are retrieved in PDS. The piecescan be fixed during File/Open.

Tangent rule not valid on points, replaced with 0 growth

Tangent grade rules can only be applied to notches. If a piece is converted thathas a tangent rule on a point, the rule values are assigned 0.00 for the growthamounts.

Grade Checker Error

After an error is found in the Style Converter, the pieces can be further examinedin PDS. Both the AccuMark version and the MicroMark version of the same

piece can be overlaid in the work area and compared.

1. Retrieve the MicroMark Style into AccuMark PDS2. Place the problem piece in the workarea3. Close Style/Model and close the MicroMark style4. File/Open and open the converted AccuMark model5. Bring the AccuMark version of the same piece into the work area6. Overlay the 2 pieces using Snap to Geometry7. Compare the results of the base or graded sizes

Sizes has variations and can not be converted

If the MicroMark Styles where saved with Variation Sizes, the Style Convertercompared the displayed Nest from the Variation size in MicroMark with the GradeChecker Nest, so that the renamed size from the Synonym Table has the sameperimeter, than the size which we convert into AccuMark.

As long as you use the Synonym table only for renaming sizes, the size yousaved in MM (which is the renamed size) and the size you get in AccuMark is thesame perimeter.

Here s/58 is the renamed size in MM, and the size in the grade rule table is size70, there are 0 variations for this, which means it is only used to rename size 70into s/58. In AccuMark the converted pieces are saved with size name 70.If now a real variation is used to change a size like you can see here:

the number of variations is bigger than 0, you get a error message in StyleConverter, that the displayed size has variations and can not be converted.Please refer to *.var., So you have to check your synonym Table, convert the Synonym table into asize code, and create the alteration rules which are necessary, to change thesize 90, to the displayed MicroMark size EEL/82. You get the size 90, for the

AccuMark Piece, but this size is not the same than your variation size Eel/82 inMicroMark.The Converter saved the sizes, like they are named in the Grade rule table.

Mismatch Problems Reported by the Style Converter

There are a few different ways the shape of the piece can differ after it has beenconverted from a MicroMark to an AccuMark piece. Locations of corners can

shift, curves can change shape or notches can shift or are occasionally missing.

Intersection Moved

In some cases, the intersection where 2 perimeter lines meet may shift. In theexample below, the perimeter point has shifted. A measure function in the StyleConverter Viewer can be used to measure the difference between the 2 shapes.

Curves Different

Sometimes the shape of a curve on a graded size can be different between the 2file formats. In the example below, the shape created by the intermediate pointsvaries on 2 sizes. One ofthose sizes is displayed in theStyle Converter Viewer. Thesection that is different ishighlighted in red. TheMicroMark piece is displayedin green and the AccuMark

piece is displayed in white.

The picture below displays both the AccuMark and MicroMark versions of thesame piece, graded in all of the sizes, as shown in PDS. If necessary, PDSfunctions such as Edit Delta can be used to refine the grading of the piece.

Changes in Notches

In some cases notch may move, be missing or occasionally there is an extranotch. In the example below, the notch has moved from its original position onthe largest size of the piece.

Overall Perimeter Changes

Occasionally the entire perimeter of a piece is displayed in red in the StyleConverter Viewer and the piece is reported as a mismatch. In the picture below,

the piece has a different origin, so the entire perimeter is offset from its originallocation.
