T-shirt printing - Intro to Design Sofie Eggers Hansen For you who have been to the subject Intro to design in the autumn you can easily try again. You'll be challenged! Are you new to the profession and do you want to see if design and sewing is something for you, this is the ideal opportunity to test your abilities and yourself in this discipline. You do not need to have tried sewing or design in advance. Here you will learn all the basics, regarding to sew on a sewing machine. Then we will work with the design of super nice prints for t-shirts, and of course print on t-shirts for ourselves. You will get a lot of inspiration and get to try different techniques. The essence of dance Kasper Nielsen Do you like to dance, would you like to know more about dance or are you interested in what dance is all about? In this class we will be dancing a lot of different dances from around the world, and consider the similarities as well as the differences, trying to find and practice, the essence of dance. The essence of this description is: lots of dancing, anyone can join. Music Helle Møller Scholten

We are going to play ”cover-songs” in different styles. So you will work with pop, rock and latin - both new and old. The group is open to everybody, but it is important that you are willing to sing and play percussion. Stencil art Lasse Snorgaard In the subject Stencil art we will work with some of the more modern styles in art, and some of those we see a lot around the greater cities around the world. It will mainly be stencils, how to make them. How to work with spray cans, graffiti and doing spray art.

11

Improvisation theatre Lone Hee In improvisation theatre there is only one rule: you cannot say No! This subject of drama has the game and the unprepared in focus. Whether you’re a drama queen or just curious this subject will challenge you. To make theatre and drama without a lot of preparations gives you training in spontaneity, creativity, humor and your ability to cooperate.

12

1B Classes

Introduction to outdoor life Lars Johansen If you want to experience different kinds of outdoor-activities this subject might be for you. We will examine the diversity of animals and plants surrounding us and hiking, climbing-activities, playing games and cooking on open fire (buns and pizza) are all issues we will deal with.

13

Music Henrik Bülow

We are going to play ”cover-songs” in different styles. So you will work with pop, rock and latin - both new and old. The group is open to everybody, but it is important that you are willing to sing and play percussion. Jewellery shop Maria Solon In this period we are going to make jewels in all sorts of ways. You will be working with bracelets, necklaces, earrings. We will be working in different materials, among rubber, silver and so on. You don’t need to be experienced. Everybody can join in; you will learn it by doing it. ☺ Stunt Kasper Nielsen A subject all about making physical effects look convincing on film. The subject will mainly contain elements from martial art and parkour, and we will be practicing the sequences again and again until they are spot on. "Stunt" is a good choice for students who wish to act in the Kung fu movie in the following period, but you can also join if you just feel like working with these subjects, with no intention of being a moviestar.

14

1C Classes Run for your life Kasper Nielsen Many fail after a short time when trying to get into a routine of regular running. What does it take to stay motivated for running on and on? We will be working with different types of running but also strength training, flexibility and corestability training will be part of the course. The main goal however, is to get into a training routine that can last your entire life. Film classics NN Here is your chance to see some of the films which are considered to be classics. When we have seen the film you have the opportunity to review it yourself – did it touch you? Were you scared or sad? Or didn’t you feel anything? We will discuss the cinematic strategies and devices, and maybe we’ll find out what moves us and what doesn’t. Personal growth Søren Ernst Lüdeking In this subject you’ll get tools that can help you to grow. You should be ready to work with you self. You should be ready to reconsider your view on life. You should be ready to be responsible for your own life. Important changes in your life start in you self. We’ll look at the basic principles we build our lives on – find your basic values. We work to improve our relations to other people and we try to find out how we can contribute to the world around us. The teaching will be planned from Steven R. Covey’s book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”

15

16

1D Classes Leather Maria Solon In this period, we will be making small items in leather. For example, small purses and pencil cases. We will start from the beginning, by dyeing the leather and then cut the models you’ll like. Finally we will be sewing it by hand. You don’t need any “leather skills” in advance, you just need to be curious and have a wish for learning how to work with leather. In the next period, you can choose this subject again, and make bigger things, such as bags and so on. ☺ Vocalworkshop - experiments and improvisation Helle Møller Scholten

Look for you inner tenor, the seductive diva, the aggressive rock singer, and the hidden witch. We have all of them inside us! This workshop is for every one who would like to explore the infinite possibilities of the voice. We will work with canons, circle songs, part-singing, improvisation and mouth percussion. Badminton Dorte Fugleberg We will start by playing with the featherball, and through that find the technical and tactical elements we will work on. A subject where experienced players and rookies alike, will be able to improve their skills. Secret art Lasse Snorgaard This class will be an adventure in creating art – the only problem is that you do not know what art you are making or why you are doing it. At the end of the class you will get all the answers but before that you will paint and create art without knowing why.

17

Danish Danish language & culture Lone Hee Subject for all the international students. Welcome to a new country! Denmark is going to be your second home for a semester. In this subject you will learn some basic Danish language, and also learn about the Danish culture, the mentality and humor. This introduction will help you to be more familiar with all that’s Danish, and hopefully make you feel very much at home here.

18

2A + 3A Classes Music tour Henrik Bülow and Helle Møller Scholten In this class we will learn how to plan, organize and carry out a music tour with a large band consisting of singer, backing group, wind and rhythm section. Prior to our performances we will have worked hard practicing, listening, and discussing music. You will have read different musical expressions and gained a greater understanding of music and its importance in our lives. Gala dresses & fashion show Sofie Eggers Hansen Here is your chance to immerse yourself in a major clothing project. You can work with larger pattern design, or directly on a doll and we can get the shiny substances tulle and chic corsage, beads and sequins. Attention has been up to design and sew gala dresses. We got lots of time in this subject and will be able to get around several large and small issues. We just need to work through and have fun. You will have learned a lot of sewing crafts and in return you will get for example a nice, personal gala dress - a dress that nobody else has. If you are not just for dresses, so it is also possible to create other festive clothes. We end the period with creating a beautiful fashion show with the creations of this spring. You learn how a fashion show is built up with scene choreography, music and styling of clothes and models. Sports Dorte Fugleberg and Kasper Nielsen A lovely long period with lots of sports. We will be playing soccer, tennis, beach volley, basketball, as well as lesser known sports like ultimate, intercross, shooting, boxing, along with others, depending on what the team finds interesting. Focus will be the vast variety of sports, the possibilities and differences. We will also be going out to meet other schools, visit different clubs and invite

some of these to UHR

19

Outdoor life Lars Johansen Outdoor life is for those of you who are keen on experiencing different activities in the outdoors. The long period during the spring, offers a great possibility to have a deeper look at the diversity of animals and plants in the region. It also offers time to work with activities such as treeclimbing, seakayak, orienteering and fishing. We will learn different methods of cooking and try out different ways to make shelters.

20

2A + 3A (continued) Classes

Theatreproduction (based on text) Lone Hee In this subject we will make a theatre production as close to a professional production as possible. We start by finding out who is going to have which functions: actor, prompter, light- and sound-engineer, director, make-up artist, costume designer and so on. Then we do sight reading. We will read three manuscripts and discuss their qualities before choosing one of them for production. And then it begins – the work of producing a theatre performance – there are lines to be rehearsed, action on stage to exercise, lights to put up, sounds and music to find, costumes to make, wigs to alter, make-up to try, PR and program to make – so that in the end we have a product that we are proud to show the world. You don’t have to have theatre experience. As long as you wish to join, and have the guts to be a part of the production, there’s room for you. Icons in mosaic/Icon art Maria Solon Icon is the Greek word for picture. Icons are being called windows to eternity, or to “kingdom of heaven” where you look inside god’s kingdom. You will be presented to icons throughout history, and it goes back a long way. Then we will start creating our own icons, not painted like most of them, but we will make them in mosaic. You don’t need any skills in advance, but you need to desire being creative and have an interest in religion.

Lasse Snorgaard We all know icons from commercials like Apple, Coca Cola and Gucci. Then there are famous posters, record covers and quotes, and finally world famous art pieces from Da Vinci, Monet and Picasso. This is some of the subjects we will work on in this class, but we will mix them all up and create totally new art out of very well-known pictures and images. This will mainly be done on canvas, but can also be done as sculptures.

21

22

2B Classes

Ball-games Dorte Fugleberg In this class we will be working with the major ball-games: basketball, volleyball, handball and indoor soccer, with basic ball-skills as the foundation. Which games we will be playing the most, is up to the teams priorities. But we will be doing team-games only, because that is what the ball is all about. Martial arts & moviemaking Lasse Snorgaard and Kasper Nielsen This class will give you the chance to try out different types of martial arts, and at the same time you have the chance to become a movie star, in the Kung fu movie production starting next month. We will focus on self-defense, techniques and coordination, and would you like to be a part of the movie, there will be a main focus on training some outstanding scenes for it. Leather Maria Solon It’s now we will be working with the bigger projects. You will be able to make your very own school bag or other things if you feel like it. You don’t have to make your own design; we have some models to use. It’s possible to choose this subject, even though you didn’t choose it in the last period, but you won’t be able to work with bigger projects.

23

Song writing Henrik Bülow You should choose this subject if you would like to lose yourself in song writing and composing. You don’t need to have any experience but it’s important that you would like to write songs and create music. It’s important that you are ready to play/sing the songs that you write and compose during the subject. You will get the chance to make studio recordings too.

24

2C Classes

Comic Life Sofie Eggers Hansen Comic Life is a computer program, which is a very quick and easy way to work with making comics and picture stories. You will have a number of challenges where you must solve various tasks based on different themes. We are going to take some photos and also scan drawings into the program, and then manipulate their expression and compose them resulting in exciting stories. The themes can go in artistic, informative and classic comic direction. The subject requires that you have a laptop computer, and that you are willing to work alone, as well as in groups. Run for victory Kasper Nielsen In this subject we aim for better condition specifically targeting a race. We will be working towards better time per kilometer for your preferred distance, and will be working with nutrition, rest and training, during preparations and up to the actual race. Rhythmic choir Helle Møller Scholten

Rythmic choir is for everyone, who likes to sing and explore the voice. We will work on vocal tecnichs, breathing, common sound and pulse. The repertoire will be wide: swing, rock, african, gypsy songs etc.

25

26

All-day period

Stretch Sofie Eggers Hansen The design class is this time going to work with stretch fabrics. You will be taught in different sewing technique, machines and about the special circumstances that exist when working with stretch materials. This is your opportunity to learn to design and sew for example t-shirts, blouses, dresses, shorts, loose pants, skirts, etc. In the period you will have time to sew several models. It's easy, fast and anyone can join. And the patterns are good to have afterwards if you want to sew in your spare time. Workout, workout, workout Kasper Nielsen A week stuffed with all kinds of specific physical training. There will be very little contact with ballgames, but lots of inspiration on training for all occasions and goals. If you like to sweat and push yourself to the limit, you have found just the right subject. Adventurerace Lars Johansen Teamwork, logical thinking and physical activity are all core values in adventureracing. We will start out with teambuilding and fundamental skills and then we will try out different types of races. During the week you and your team will have to set up a race for others. There are no limitations as long as you are willing to participate in the activities. Concept art Lasse Snorgaard In the class Concept art every thing you know about art will be challenged. Instead of working with paint and brushes we will make art based on concepts or weird ideas – and the materials will be sounds, movies, acting, smells, feelings and many other things. Get ready to turn art upside down.

27

28

3B Classes

Jazz & improvisation Henrik Bülow We will listen to different kinds of jazz music and try to become aware of the fundamental tone language. Then we will work on the theoretical basis of jazz. We will study the composition of different scales and get to know some rhythmic and melodic figures in order to put together a solo. In the end we will play some jazz standards with the possibility of improvising. It will be possible to learn to play some of the wind instruments of the school (alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and trumpet). Jazzvocal Helle Møller Scholten What is the special feeling and freedom in jazz? We are going to listen to recordings of some of the world’s best jazz singers. What do they do? Why does it sound different from rock music? How can we get inspiration from them? In jazz there are a lot of classic songs that are recorded again and again by different artists. It is some of these standards, as they are called, that you are going to sing. Everybody is going to be a soloist, and we are going to co work with the ”jazz and improvisation group”. So you will also try singing with a backing band. Teambuilding Kasper Nielsen ”A team is a group of people pursuing a common goal, they would not be able to achieve alone” Teambuilding is about “the group”, as a unit and as a gathering of individuals. To build a team means creating an environment where every members full potential is used to reach the goal, and which everybody enjoy being a part of. In the teambuilding course there will be some theory on group dynamics and goal setting, and a lot of “hands on” challenges.

29

Jewellery shop Maria Solon In this period we are going to make jewels in all sorts of ways. You will be working with bracelets, necklaces, earrings. We will be working in different materials, among rubber, silver and so on. You don’t need to be experienced. Everybody can join in; you will learn it by doing it. ☺ Kung fu movie Lasse Snorgaard Now it is time for special effects, magnificent battle scenes and ninjas. We will try out the Kung fu genre, and together direct, script write, film and combine cuts into a small movie that will amaze the world. Focusing on humor, funny shooting angels, and weird ideas we will give new life to jump kicks and the throw star. If you also had Martial arts and moviemaking, it is time to kick ass.

30

3C Classes

Explorers Lars Johansen In modern history many races for reaching special destinations have taken place. Who was the first to reach the poles, to climb the highest summit and who was the first to cross the oceans? During this subject we will get closer to these people, their histories and their motivation for reaching their goals.

Soccer Dorte Fugleberg Spring at UHR means soccer. We will be working on every aspect of the game. There will be lots of energy and high spirits during the lessons, which will make everyone at better team player, both on and off the field. It will be possible to challenge other schools/clubs for a match. Physical training Kasper Nielsen In physical training we will try out a load of different kinds of training, and learn how they affect the body. The training will be a mix of styles from both the “fitness-universe”, classical physical training and whatever the class feels up to. We will be covering strength training, cardio training and other relevant training approaches.

31

32

4A Classes Design - best of Sofie Eggers Hansen Here is the class which is the perfect ending of the design classes for you, who are a design - and clothing freak on UHR. We're talking about what we would like to do for the last time with design - it is clear that we need to get around many themes. Your teacher has the following ideas - which do you have? Recycle design - portfolio, we collect your best stuff in a nice folder - fashion photography, you in your own design - jewellery - hair accessories - rapid clothing functions in alternative materials - exhibition visits - fashion drawing - conceptual clothing design, working in the zone between art and design – design of shoes - Theory: fashion's role in modern society - different design than clothing design, etc. Soccer Dorte Fugleberg Last chance of the year to work with soccer at UHR. The technical aspects will be the focus, mainly passes, turns, shots, tackles and takedowns. This will be combined with lots of matches, so the field will be steaming with positive and sweaty energy in the summer heat. Mixing Henrik Bülow We’ll work on some of the songs and compositions from the school year. Using some of the basic techniques we’ll try to uncover the secret behind the perfect mix. What makes a man? Kasper Nielsen What makes a man a man? Which personality traits, skills and knowledge are they expected to have? This subject will largely be dependent on, but also trying to put into perspective, the ideal images of the students. The aim of the class will be, to analyze and obtain the desirable qualities.

33

4B Classes Sea kayak & water activities Lars Johansen This is the last opportunity to experience sea kayak. It is a short period where we are playing games and having fun. You don’t need any skills on forehand. If you haven’t had the experience or you just are keen on water activity, this is the place to be. Yearbook Maria Solon The most important publishing of the year! And the most read! In this class we will find out exactly how your yearbook is going to be, and then make sure it will be the most fabulous yearbook – ever! There’s to be idea creating workshop, layout, organizing the writing of profiles, collecting everything and producing the actual book. Rhythmic choir Helle Møller Scholten Rhythmic choir is for everyone, who likes to sing and explore the voice. We will work on vocal techniques, breathing, common sound and pulse. The repertoire will be wide: swing, rock, African, gypsy songs etc. We will work with canons, circle songs, part-singing, improvisation and mouth percussion. Movieediting - Kung fu project Lasse Snorgaard It is now the time to edit the final movie. The many scenes have been shot and now they are waiting to be cut, edited and made into final scenes in the movie. We also need to do the music the effects, animations, subtitles and create a cool soundtrack. So if you have a good computer and like to work on it – this is definitely a class for you.
